Hi Klee,
Not a dumb question at all. Apparently it is a lot more common than drs think to O twice. Do you think you may have O'd twice? Do some googling - there are some recent interesting studies on this and it appears western medicine needs to adjust its knowledge of O. O can happen days or even weeks later - not just 24 hours as some have suggested!
My DS was concieved on a 60 cycle where I attempted to O twice- he was the second O - the first one wasn't good enough!!!! I was having cycle tracking done at the time - I was told I O'd on the basis of the ultrasound because I had a corpus luteum - (it was smallish!) - but then the Dr changed her mind when she got the BT results back - I had more ultrasounds - which showed there were no follicles get ready for O and then whammo - I suddenly found myself UTD - 10 days later!!! even though the FS said it couldn't happen because in her opinion I was simply not O'ing at all! Yes - when I read those studies about O'ing twice - I definitely know what they mean about Drs needing to adjust their knowledge.
I have just had a weird cycle where I might have O'd twice. I had EWCM at the time I was expecting it and had all the usual signs that I O'd around CD17 - bloating, pains etc - then about 10 days later I had EWCM AGAIN - and more O signs, bloating, pain etc.
I didn't get two AFs - just a delayed AF - IT WAS 10 DAYS LATE!!!!!!! I had rotten bloating and PMS from the time of what would have been the first O - all the way through what would have been the second O to when AF arrived. The fluid retention this cycle was just rotten- may be something to do with the double dose of progesterone.
I have PCOS so my O can be all over the place anyway. I am just happy if it happens at all.
I am currently having acupuncture to keep my O'ing more regular than what is usually the case with the PCOS. My acupuncturist says that it is actually not unusual to O twice.
Hope this gives you some insight in order to answer your question.
