    Taking multivitamins

    Hey girls,

I just wanted to ask this question...

I was taking Folate tablets 3 months ago and was taking them as instructed on the bottle (with food).

I then started to take Elevit instead but because the instructions don't mention having to take it with food I haven't been and for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing bad heartburn. My Mother insisted that I go see a doctor because I might have a stomach ulcer that is causing the heartburn but over the last 4 days I have been taking the Elevit AFTER I ate my breakfast in the morning and since then I haven't had any heartburn.

My question is has anyone else ever had heartburn problems when taking Elevit or any other vitamin tablets? I know that with some medications you have to take the tablets with food and I was wondering if Elevit was the same. I'd actually love for that to have been the reason why I was suffering from the heartburn because then I might NOT have an ulcer afterall and I really didn't want to have to take medication to get rid of the ulcer for fear that we would have to stop TTC while I was taking the medication.

I had heartburn when I took Elevit too, but I changed to Blackmores Gold Pregnancy & breastfeeding fairly early in this PG & besides the normal PG heartburn & reflux I haven't had a problem.
Maybe because Blackmores have a heavier coating?

I didn't have heartburn but Elevit didn't agree with me at all It made me feel foul and blocked me up from all the iron in it. I much prefer Blackmores or Natures Own. I actually use Natures Own Pregnancy and Breastfeeding vitamins as they are much cheaper than others on the market, you only need one tablet a day and they contain pretty much the exact same ingredients

Thanks for the replies ladies I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one having problems. I think I'll stick with Elevit because it only seems to be the heartburn and now that I'm taking it with food it doesn't seem to be messing around with me as much.

I do think that there should be some kind of instruction on the box though explaining how you should take it and what side-effects there may be! I even checked the Elevit website and couldn't find a section explaining these things.
