    Smile Taking the next step...

Ok, so I saw my FS for the first time yesterday and DH and I are off to get the usual array of tests done... his swimmers, my bloods confirming O, rubella vaccinnation etc etc

She's also sending me for an ultrasound and a transvaginal sonosalpingography... has anyone had one of these procedures?

I'm thinking it's the same as a lap and dye, however they use saline and go up my hoohar, rather then using the dye and going through my bellybutton... is this right??

    How much is the procedure?

Any information you can share would be greatly apprecaited!!!

    TIA

    Nic xo

Yeah I think thats where they do it under ultrasound so no need to get a general anethetic and have the pain a laparoscopy brings. I think they advise you to have some panadol or nurofen as some people find it painful but most people don't just a small percent. I have no idea how much it costs. I had mine done under GA and lap and it didn't cost me anything but I have never had a scan where I haven't had to pay.

I think the saline thingy gives them a better look at your uterus etc than a regular ultrasound and helps to diagnoes physiological problems. I'm not sure that they can check if they tubes are clear with that.... I've never had one myself.

Good luck! Hope the tests go well.

elocin-sounds like the procedure i had done just before chrissy last year, they recommended 2 naprogesic tabs before having it done, cost around $450,the liquid they use is the expensive part ,take a pad i bleed & also some of the liquid dye leaks out.Good luck with it all,it is usually done between certain cycle days .

    Thanks girls!!

As I thought, it's basically the same as a lap and dye, but they use saline.

I have to call them on CD1 to book the procedure on CD9... af is due around the 2/3rd of March.

It's about $600 (poor DH nearly had a heart attack when I told him )

nic find out from medicare how much they would normally charge as you get 80% of what is the recommended price. most places will charge more than the recommended price so you may not get 80% of that back.
