    Hey CC

I had all of those tests at the six-month mark. It does seem overwhelming but try not to be scared - it's good that your GP is being really thorough so that, as you say, you can rule things out. Information is power and there are so many things that can help in the unlikely event that there are issues.

The ultrasound will be to check out your uterus (including the thickness of your entrometrium/lining), ovaries (make sure there's no cysts, see follicles etc), fallopian tubes and all the other internal girly bits. The technician will ask you if you want to have an internal as well as an external, and while it's entirely up to you I recommend you say yes so that you get more detailed pictures. It's a bit uncomfortable but not too much worse than a pap smear. Don't be worried if they don't say anything or frown a bit while they're poking around, legally they can't tell you anything so ignore their expressions!

The blood tests are to review all hormone levels. Do you know what day in your cycle it's scheduled for? If it's CD 21 (most likely), it'll be to see if you've ovulated and all that good stuff. Sometimes if your progesterone (or other levels) are low it can result in mid-cycle spotting and so forth. They might even check your iron levels to make sure you're not anaemic.

Your GP will explain everything to you in a follow-up visit so stay away from Dr Google as much as possible!

Best of luck and hang in there, this is a positive step in your TTC journey. Will you post back and let us know how it went? xxx

PS DD - good luck for your results too hon.
