Well we have decided to TTC#2 around June next year,
thinking about it, i thought we had been ttc#1 (we wernt trying but not stopping either) for about 6-8months, but after thinking about it, we had been ttc#1 for 2+yrs, i have been off the pill for 2yrs and was forgetting to take it reguarly for 6+months prior. But we were talking about TTC#1 properly for about 6-8months.
Im now freaking out, does this mean its going to take forever to concieve another child if at all??
I know Lachlan is a "miracle" child, but is he really a "Miracle" considering we have been "trying" for so long??
Do we have a chance to give Lachlan a brother or sister in the future??
Should we be TTC#2 sooner, considering the past.
We wont be charting, but just like we did last time, i tested when i o'd and we dtd.
Help, some advice and support about what we can do would be great, PLEASE!!
It sounds like you have perfectly normal fertility to me and every chance in the world to give Lachlan a sibling.
I have read that it is perfectly normal for it to take up to 2 years for couples under 30 to concieve. Don't know why - just how it is. Doesn't mean that anything is wrong. Some doctors don't investigate until you have been trying for 2 years if you are under 30. If you have been trying for 12 months without success and your over 30, doctors are more willing to intervene because of that ticking clock - 6 months if you are over 35.
I'd say TTC when you are ready. You are both young - have proven fertility, so chances are everything is fine. If you are concerned, of course, seek medical advice.
I am all for the not charting. That is my approach - although I do take general note of CM for timing purposes - although I don't tell DH. Currently trying to give our DS a sibling.
All the best and I hope this helps. No need to freak!
TICKLISH
I wouldn't be too concerned. Like ticklish said it is not considered a problem at your age to take up to two years to conceive. Your fertility can also change from one lot of TTC to another, for instance it took me 3 years to conceive in my late 20's/early 30's then it only took 9 months to conceive at 40.
I agree that your fertility sounds pretty normal When AF returns you'll know your body is ready to go again (altho you can ovulate & fall pregnant while breastfeeding without any AF!). And you know that your DH has the swimmers to make babies, so don't stress too much.
Our situation was different, but I had similar fears. I have (had?) PCOS and had no cycle for 10 months, so had to go on meds to fall pg with Tallon. However, 3 months into breastfeeding, even though it was around the clock still, AF turned up, and my cycle was like clockwork from then on. I did chart when TTCing, coz It gave me something to do LOL, and we also wanted to try for a girl this time So I reckon the pregnancy, if anything, improved my fertility (fell pg 2nd attempt with NO meds this time! and still breastfeeding!).
Thanks Ladies for your responses, makes me feel somewhat better.
Rick has an underactive thyroid gland and is on meds for this. We found out after having Lachlan that the meds he is on causes infertility in quite a high % of people who take them, especially since he has taken them since he was 17 and has to take them for the rest of his life, and is on quite a high dosage.
I guess that another (prob the main reason) why ive freaked out.
But im glad to hear how "normal" it is to ttc for up to 2 yrs before conceiving, makes me feel "normal" iykwim
I think what we will prob do, is when we start ttc (whenever that'll be) after 6months if nothing at all, we will seek med advice, prehaps get Rick checked out.
Im feeling much more confident with reading your replies, thankyou
