i fell preg (deliberately - through frozen embryo transfer after years of IVF) when DS was 10 months old. the worst part of the first three months was not being able to feed him his dinner etc because one look at his mush and I'd be hurling! and then he'd cry and get really upset

but we moved interstate so the first trimester flew by for us and I coped a lot better this time round than with DS, despite being sicker. You just do what you have to.

But now i'm 25 weeks and its hard. he wants to climb on me and have me lift him and it's just so hard for me. I can't clean up his toys all off the ground cos it kills my back etc my belly is really big so that gets in the way too. The housework has gone downhil big time cos i'm tired.

However, I don't feel DS doesn't get my attention. He's nearly 15 months (will be 18 months when bub arrives) and can play on his own a lot. He's been walking for a few months now so i don't need to supervise him as much etc so I do get the lay on teh lounge and just watch him play iykwim.

I think it would be a little tougher if he was only just starting to move and get into everything he shouldn't ...

Anyhoo, what i'm trying to say is go for it. You won't 'neglect' your first, you'll just make it work for you. And if you are going to have another, your DS is going to have to get used to him not always being the centre of mummy's attention iykwim. And the fact your DH is a great support - well that'll make the world of difference.!!!

    good luck with it

I am also going to try for #2 next months which will make DS 8 months old. I know it will be harder this time as with my first pregnancy I gave up work at 8 weeks and so could just sleep, relax, eat whenever I wanted. But at the same time I am looking forward to it as well. I too want my kids to be close in age, and I guess one bonus for me is that I will have my family and be done with being pregnant soon and then I can enjoy my kids as they grow together.

The first trimester can be hard...the tiredness, hormones, morning sickness and dealing with a baby can be testing but it sounds like you have a very supportive DH which helps a lot.
My closest gap is 11mths between my two younger girls and that was exhausting (and the fact i had 5 others)...and 13mths between my last two.
My two eldest are 17mths apart and I have found that my favourite age gap.
Good luck with TTC I hope it happens quickly for you...a close gap is fun and rewarding.
