Recently a work friend and I were talking about coffee and how much coffee we drink and after hearing how much coffee I drink, she said that it was a lot. I currently drink about 5-6 cups of coffee a day and also have some tea in between as well.
I was wondering how much caffeine or cups of coffee is recommended or safe? How many cups of coffee did you have before (when TTC) and during your pregnancy?
Also, what tips or advice can anyone offer me to help me cut back on my coffee and caffeine intake each day? I have tried this past week but have been struggling!
Which type of teas are good for conception that I might be able to drink before TTC and during TTC? Is Peppermint tea ok/good?
From memory, I read somewhere that caffeine can actually hinder conception so to be on the safe side I cut it out completely - my first cycle after that was the one that took - coincidence maybe but still... And as far as during your pregnancy goes, more than I think 3 cups a day isn't recommended as there is an increased chance of miscarriage... I switched to decaf and now the only caffeine I have is the occasional cola.... lower in caffeine than coffee. I think tea is a better option although it does still contain caffeine, just lower amounts... some of the herbal teas don't have any though... I was told peppermint was fine, can be very good in pregnancy too as it settles the digestive system.
