TTC while BF

is anyone else TTC while BF? DS2 is 9 months old and AF hasn't returned yet. I *think* I had EWCM on Tues, Wed and Thurs. it's been so long since I paid attention to this stuff... lol. I know it's a bit of a longshot that I'd be ovulating right now.. at the very moment DP decided he's on board for another bub (if that's what's meant to be).

I used OPKs with both my DSs pregnancies but this time I have no cycle to guide me. so far we're just taking the old fashioned approach. DTD at least twice a week.

any tips or success stories?

No success stories for me but I thought I O'd and AF arrived 2 weeks later. If you are O'ing now and you don't get pregnant AF will arrive in around 2weeks time. You wont keeping ovulating and missing AF if that makes sense. The O usually comes before the first period hence why its pretty common to get pregnant after having a baby before AF returns.

Hmm not from me as in before AF returned. I did conceive while BF but AF had already returned a few months prior. I think I had a couple of annovulatory cycles after AF returned then fell pregnant soonish after. I know a lot of women who have conceived before AF returned though.

It is possible to conceive before your first period, but only if you ovulate, obviously. It's very hard to know when that's happening as sometimes your body has several false starts before it gets going for real. If you think you've ovulated and then you get no period and not pregnant, then you know you didn't ovulate.

And everyone is different.
Quite often, cycles only resume once mum has a reasonably long break between breastfeeds (say at least one 6hr-ish break), but again, everyone is very different in this regard.

I conceived my 2nd and 3rd babies while BFing, but my period had returned both times.

Thanks ladies. DS2 is at kindy 2 days a week now and I only express once at lunchtime. just last night he slept from 8-1.30am so that's encouraging. I might invest in some cheap OPKs if nothing happens and AF doesn't return soon. can't hurt to poas every day.. lol

Sounds like we are in about the same boat! DS is nearly 9 months, still bfing and we are *sortof* ttc #2. I say *sortof* because I have no idea what my bodies doing lol
I noticed EWCM about a month ago, did OPKs and they went positive to my shock. But then I had a bleed a few days later that lasted as long as AF. I haven't o'd since and should be due for AF any day now if that's what the bleed was. It's difficult ttc without a cycle. We are just bding a couple times a week if/when we feel like it and I figure nature will take it's course when my body is ready. A 6 hr gap is nearly unheard of around here lol so I don't like our chances.

Feels weird to be back POAS and obsessing over nothing.

Every pregnancy I have had has been while bfing (except first child obviously) - but like a few of the others, they were all after AF had returned. AF didn't return till 12months with DS - so just be warned you might have a while to go sorry!
