    Smile Understanding Blood Test Levels

    Hi Everyone.

After almost three weeks of 'ghosting' the forums, I finally joined BB. I feel relieved to know that so many people are experiencing some/all of the issues and emotions I am currently going through.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my blood test results, that do seem to be very low (I've spent HOURS googling 'healthy ranges'). Because of my history/situation: had a cancer removed from cervix 3 years ago, very low levels of progesterone, was on 100mcg of Microgynon a day, which is two packets of 50mcg, PCOS, and now TTC...my Doc has referred me for extra help. Also, now my gyno is retiring and seeing new gyno. (don't panic, deep breaths)Anyway, feeling very apprehensive about twhat he blood test results mean.

Any advice? Blood was taken 5 days after last AF.
    Oestradiol (E2) 187 pmol/L
    Progesterone (P4) <1.0 nmol/L

I'm getting so nervous, my stomach is in constant knots.
Thanks for any suggestions, appreciate it.

    hi

now first i am no expert, i used to work in a lab but not this department so i know a little
now your bt was 5 days after AF so you are in the follicular phase of your cycle.
P4 rises after ovulation and drops just before AF arrives so <1 at this stage is normal. also E2 starts off low and start to rise slowly after CD (cycle day) 3 so from what i know >100 for CD5 is normal too
normally on these hormone reports they have in normal ranges at the bottom of the page. just look at the results for the follicular phase.
are you going for more tests later in your cycle? this will tell you more than these one off results.

    Hi Teddy,

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. In the range given on the results, the follicular phase says P4 2-6; and E2 150-650....so I suppose, I'm just low in the range. Wait and see what the new guy says???

I think I'm just working myself up so much, probably b/c of particular situation...never knew TTC would be so stressful, and consume so many of my waking moments.

Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who, once I make up my mind I want something, I want it NOW, and I've ALWAYS got what I want. Hopefully 2009 will bring the news and joy that I so crave.

    Thanks, and Happy New Year!!

hey petal, yeh TTC is a rollacoster for sure!

i don't think your e2 is low you are just early in the phase. in 7 days ( cd12) your e2 could be in the 600's ykwim. it is a gradual increase over the intire week.

    best of luck
