    vitex

Does anyone know when you should take vitex and how much? I started taking it on day 10 of my cycle in an attempt to shorten the time taken to ovulate from 28 days and lengthen my LP from 9 days. I am now on day 21 and no signs of ovulation at all. I have read online that you should take vitex after you ovulate because it can delay ovulation. Does anyone know if this is correct? Also for those who take it how much do you take? I have Blackmores and it says to take 3 tablets a day which are 660mg each. Seems a lot.

Vitex can take up to 3 months to work. It is best taken with Vitamin B. Vitex works on balancing and regulating all the different hormones needed in a menstral cycle. Therefore I would not think that you should not take it in the follecular phase of your cycle. I was using natural progesterone cream to lengthen my lp and at first my doctor told me to use everyday of my cycle. This stopped O, and from then on I only used it after O. Once I have been on the cream for 6 months I switched to vitex and I took it everyday, it did not delay O at all and overall my cycles regulated very well.

The dosage sounds ok. I used the Blackmores brand once and the switched to Natures Own because it was 2 tabs (2000mg) once per day.

I am not a health practicioner and I would strongly seek some professional advice.

With Vitex you need to take it every day of the cycle.

That said I would recommend you research it via a internet search engine. Type in Vitex & miscarriage & see what comes up. Basically there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that it can cause early miscarriage.

I had two early miscarriages whilst on it. I'd stop taking it as soon as I suspected I was pregnant (as per the recommendations) and within a few days I'd start to spot then have a m/c.

I stopped taking it and the very next pregnancy stuck and resulted in my son Brock.
