We have been TTC for 13 months now - during that time we've had 2 x PG's which have resulted in MC so technically this time round it's only been 6 cycles since last MC. Anyway I saw my OBGYN for my annual pap and told him of my absolute frustration of not being PG even though I get OV cramps, OPK is giving me +pos and we BD at the right times and that I didn't understand why things are not working especially when i didn't go to any of these lengths with my DD and fell PG the first month we tried. Anyway to cut a long story short he sent me for some more tests (did initial round of tests after 2nd MC which showed up potential MC issue but nothing related to conceiving). Yesterday I went for an US to check my uterus and ovaries and the ultrasound person told me I have a cyst in my left ovary. So far that is the only information I know, do not know the size and I don't see my OBGYN till 8th Oct. A friend of mine had the same thing earlier this year and I've spoken to her about it but I guess i"m just after feedback on other people's experience with this.
I'm so glad my OBGYN listened to my concerns as my two GP's both told me "stop stressing about it and focusing on it and it'll happen" and now i have found out about this which I could have gone another 6 cycles without knowing about and with little change of getting PG. My periods since my last MC have been all over the shop and normally they are spot on accurate. Even AF is playing tricks - this month I've only had 1.5 days of bleeding and then it stopped. I've been getting AF arrive up to 5 days early, cycles from 24 to 29 days in length, OV starting 4 or 5 days earlier than it should and I can now see that it is probably the cyst doing all this.
My friend was put on a cycle of clomid and fell PG that very first month on it so I'm wondering if that is what my OB will do or if he may get me to try something else first??? I'm disappointed about how long i have to wait to see OB as it means i'll miss this cycle also but I'm on the list if any cancellations occur.
Sorry just had to get that all out.. Thanks ladies..
It depends on the cyst. I've had more ovarian cysts than I can count on my fingers and toes, it took 5 cycles to get pregnant and am due next week. I had a 3cm cyst on my right ovary at first scan at 5w3d (feared ectopic) which was a result of a previous cycle (it was 5cm at one stage) AND there was a developing cyst on my left ovary which was the corpus luteum from the cycle that resulted in pregnancy (does that make sense?)
All of my cysts have been follicular (the follicle from ovulation keeps growing) so clearly I was ovulating, and did not affect TTC or sustaining a pregnancy. These type of cysts resolve themselves and I've never needed to have them surgically removed. So it might be something else causing problems for you? There are different types of cysts though and some are sinister, I hope you get some answers.
Hi lady_neon,
Thank you for the reply. My mother had cysts at my age also and had them lasered and they eventually ended up with my mum having a hystorectomy due to the pain and aggrevation they were causing her. I'm assuming nothing nasty as I spoke to my OB office and they are not rushing me in to see them and they have the scan results so I guess I just have to wait and see. Was just curious about course of action from here regarding TTC. I'm hoping it's going to be a similar situation to my friend.
Depends on the cyst hun. I had yrs of terrible pain with gps tellung me iit was nothing & refusing to send me for scabs, then when i was pg wirh dd1 my ob found a dermoid cyst on my ovary, completely harmless but caused the pain. I fell pg 5th cycle. My ob removed it during my cs & fell pg with dd2 first cycle so the cyst nor its removal have caused me probs. Hope u get answers soon & everythings ok
