OPK's work by dectecting the surge of Lutenizing hormone that occurs 12 to 36 hours before O. YOu generally start testing a few days before anticipated ovulation. Rule of thumb is to test at 2pm and 8pm. At first you may get a few days of faint lines but these are considered negative. A true positve is when the second line goes as dark or darker than the test line. Once you get a positive O is likely to occur with in the above stated time.
OPK's don't work for everyone. Some people never get a true positive and stil manage to get a bfp. They can be expensive too. I have just used the lullaby conception brand and it was good. Others get them from ebay.
I used them this month and I was surprised to see how well my fertility signs matched the opk result. To be honest now that I have used them I won't go back because they really helped me pinpoint O.
thanks Jaxi - it does look good... but i am so confused re the o date and also wondering if i wa doing temp right early on (didnt have light on LOL!!). but glad they seem to be getting higher and higher.... will test in a few days.... hope things are going well with you!
I promised DH I wouldnt test for a few more days... bc i truly think the O date on this chart is wrong.. and why are my temps higher before O???
Hmm i wonder how long i will wait - i think it looks promising too..... but dont want to get hopes up!!
we are away with family this weekend and i have a v good friend's wedding.. if temps still up on thu maybe i will test then... (oh will i really wait that long)
he he he! this is only my 2nd cycle off the mini pill and stopping bf... when i was ttc DS my cycles were all over the place - like 14 weeks, 12 weeks - shortest was 6 wks - so i dont know what my bosy is likely to do. this is only my 2nd cycle temping.
i am excited, but i dont want that let down feeling and it looks weird to me... and my chinese dr seems to think perhaps i didnt O due to the weird temps...
i emailed her the chart this morning so will see what she says...
I don't think it looks like a pregnancy chart yet. I still think you probably O'd later in the cycle than what FF shows and therefore need to wait to see if your temp goes up further.
If you compare your current chart with your previous chart you will see last cycle you had a far higher temp late in the cycle than you've had this time. For that reason alone the current one doesn't look like a successful cycle (too early to tell I think).
Personally I wouldn't get excited until your temp gets to over 36.7 at least. You need to remember that your temp will get higher than normal when you are pregnant. Your chart has not yet reached your previous not pregnant chart temp as shown in last cycle so I would expect to see it higher than that if you were pregnant.
Have you been taking your temp at the same time yet? I noticed that the last 5 are circles not dots which normally means they wont be reliable due to sickness, temping at different times or other variables that could make them inaccurate.
Try to hold off testing for a while until you see a high temp or you get past CD30 without getting your AF.
yes i have been taking temps at the same time... i am not sure why it is doing the unfilled dots... but it has been the same time (within 30 min) for all but 4 days this cycle...

Noooooooo!!! Sending you big hugs Pregpan. Still no AF? Maybe give it another few days and test again if still no AF. Thinking of you. I know how the BFN feels but am not giving up hope for you!
yep no AF yet... will test again in a few days but i reckon this wasnt my month....
will keep you updated - now i just want AF so I can try again... boo hoo
well girls my TCM dr just called me, she think i prob O'd around day 21...
hmmm BD may not have been that well timed this month.. esp as dh was sick all last week...
i guess just a long cycle... and not likely to be my month...
and testing WAY too early LOL
