haha, we'll see if you have a girl SaraJane, then we'll know how you did it!!
I can't wait too!! The race is on! Just kidding. It will happen at the right time for both of you, and it will be the best feeling in the world seeing that :bfp: - the wait, and all those symptoms will be sooo worth it!

Sorry to interupt...but in etc. Just had to say hi to Spuddle. Can't believe you're from Newman. I'm in port Hedland...practically your neighbour!! Well sorta kinda...:D

I got no idea how i made Chelsea.. think somewhere along the line i mis-calculated days cos we had *planned* for a boy.... :P

Oh my god Beaksie!!! We ARE neighbours!!!!! Helloooooooooooooooo!!!! That is just SO DAMNED COOL!!!!! I tell you what, being up here, I definitely feel the odd one out... everyone here has children or is pregnant! You hardly ever see a woman in town here who isn't pregnant. Apparently we have the highest birth rate statistically in Australia - and you can't give birth here... wtf!!!!!
Are you/your partner in the mines? That's why I'm up here... or at least my DF WAS in the mines, til he resigned last week!! Chat soon ;)

There must be something in the red dirt... wish I'd catch it...

Hey Spuddle
You're right about the pregnacy thing. I've actually got an 11 mth old, but just had a miscarriage (my 3rd), and I swear to god all I see around this place is big bellied women! I actually brought this up at Play group and the response-nothing better to do up here, which is kind of true! My fiance and I have been here for 2 and half years (approx 2yrs too long), and we're actually hoping to go home to Vic in December. Hoping it's before or skin turns a perm shade of red from the ore dust(lol). He works for Telstra, and Im a SAHM.
Wondered...do you have to come to Hedland to have a baby, or will you go to Perth?:)

Saturday!!?? NNNNNOOOOO! ;)
How cruel is that. In the U.S. its only Thursday so not sure, I think you guys all reach Saturday before I do but I'm not sure. Your killing me here! lol. Well good luck.
OH, and with the discussion of trying to select the sex of the child, my understanding is this (more than position): Timing - You are basically potentially fertile for about a week based on the possible life expectancy of sperm (up to 5 days). So, since the girly swimmers are a bit stronger and can live longer, you try like mad early in your week of fertility while abstaining around ovulation days to increase the odds of the little girly swimmers reaching the egg before the little bubs do! And if you want a little bub, you abstain early on and work extra hard right around ovulation. Neither will prevent a sex, but the theory being both ways impact the odds. I believe the little bubb swimmers are faster so increased odds near ovulation then before.
Personally we were going to try that with our last attempted pg, but she had Finlay decided she was going to try again and to be honest, I'm a sucker for a fertile wife and the prospect of making her pg ;) so we worked very hard all but one day of the fertile week and we still had a boy (YA)!

Keira, how did you go last night? :P How was the dvd?
Still no sign of AF.... no cramps... nothing.... geez :wall: might have to make a trip to see the :doctor: on monday if I still have nothing! I'm also finding it hard to sleep so was up 1hr earlier today as it's playing on my mind.... if you are pregnant, don't you sleep more?? (tired etc?)
 i cannot believe how large this thread has become! I think we might be asked to start our own group thread up soon with the rate of posting that we are doing!!!! :P

Hi Beaksie,
We've been up here only 6 months. I've actually enjoyed it mostly - I have a full time job, I'm fullfilling my dream of writing for the local paper (I've always wanted to be a writer) and I'm running a netball team (although I'm a basketballer at heart and so I'm finding netball a bit sissy... however, all good in the name of weightloss!!!). Oh and it's 12 hours away from my in-laws (Perth)!! Is that too wicked??!!
I do miss civilisation though. I'd love a kmart and a maccas (to cancel out the netball no doubt!) like PH has. I'm not sure I could live in PH though... it's very different to Newman. I'm from over east too originally - Albury Wodonga. I went to uni in Melbourne (Monash at Clayton).
I had what the doctor reckons was a chemical pregnancy last month and I had two of them last year, so I do feel your pain with the whole pregnancy thing. I don't know why, though, I just feel like it's going to happen VERY soon for us. I'm very excited.
I think we'll leave Newman at Christmas time (if DF can't find another local job, maybe before!) and head back over east. Orange, Newcastle of Brissy sounds good (mining!). DF wants to get his civilian equivalent of his cert IV in OH&S (he was military and he did their course) and become and OH&S manager and then perhaps a consultant. HOpefully that will increase our options in a move over east! All my family are over there.
I'd prefer to go to PH to have a baby than Perth, simply because there's no way I'm living with my inlaws for the month prior. NO WAY HOSE!!!! If we move over east at Christmas, that'd be way better coz I wouldn't have to worry about it then!
Sorry for this being so

long. lol - i forgot to finish the sentence!
-
OH and I totally agree about the group thread thing - I think you guys all rock and would love to stay in contact with you all!!
-
You should ALL move to Melbourne!! :P
-
haha... much better shopping in melbourne than in Newman no doubt! I lived there for 3 years... mmmmmmmm chadstone..... I had withdrawal symptoms for 2 years after I moved!
-
LOL we moved from NSW in October last yr... i prefer it here!!!!
-
Howdy... I really enjoyed it up here too for the 1st year. Pretty much partied the whole time, and had a ball. I've found it very isolating since having my daughter though, it makes it hard when all your friends are at work, and I actually like my in laws (crazy as it seems) so I miss eveyone at home. Writing for the papewr sounds cool. Thats something I tried to get into up here too, but missed out. Bugger it!
-
Was hoping to stay in here and chat for a bit, but my little girl is eating a book as I type, so I'd better go. Will try again tonight. Seeyas

Ok Beaksie. My DF has hijacked my computer so I'm being very naughty and feeding my addiction to this thread (yes, I know) while I'm at work... very very sneaky...
I can imagine it would be isolating not being at work everyday, surrounded by people. My mom said that when I was a baby, she used to crave adult conversation.

Kimbaz - my aunt and uncle live in park orchards in melbourne. Is that near Narre Warren? I know that place for some reason...
I'm a bit scared about being pregnant in Newman to be honest because of the lack of facilities (we have a bit of a dodgy hospital and two horrid doctors. Well, one horrid one, I haven't been to the other one yet!). I'm a bit soppy about personal stuff though and don't ever really want to be examined by a male doctor. Unless I'm in the throughs of labour and in that case I can't imagine I'll give a sod!No female docs at all. A week and a half wait to get in to see a doctor at an appointment (rather than open surgery where you can wait up to 2 hours to see someone. I actually had to wait two hours to see a doctor on thurs for my asthma!!). Ick... bring on civilisation! I think that if... no WHEN... I get pregnant up here, my DF and I will take mini break trips to PH for me to see a doc there.
