    What happens at the Gyno???

    Hi All!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

A bit of background on me, I haven't had AF for 6 months now after coming off BCP in Jan 08, and have been diagnosed with PCOS. So now I have a referal to the Gyno, and am just wondering what will happen at my first appointment

I had hormone and glucose bloodtests and internal and external ultrasounds and the GP has packaged all of this up for me to take to my appt.

Given I have had all the tests, is it likely that I will be put on Clomid (which is what the GP said I will need) straight away to get me ovulating???

Any insights would be greatly appreciated, thanks and to all.

with the diagnosis of PCOS, you'll likely be put on meds to make AF visit, then onto clomid

most times they will force a bleed for a clean out first though....

you'll be asked lots of q's about your history and stuff too

I agree with BG. Most likely get Provera first to bring on a bleed so you can start a fresh as such. Then you will most likely be given Clomid to get you ovulating. Good luck, hope you get your BFP really soon

Thanks for your responses Kt and BG!

Just another question then, will i get both Provera and Clomid prescriptions at the 1 appointment? And also, is it standard procedure to be monitored with bloods and ultrasounds whilst on clomid?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just really nervous, and anxious for my BFP.

    Thanks in advance

Melis - i got a script for both primulut (a different form of progesterone but similar to provera - just takes longer and is much gentler on your body rom my experience!) and clomid. i had to take the P for 10 days, then the clomid from days 5 to 9 of my cycle after the bleed. i had blood test on day 21 to see if i'd ovulated at all. unfortunately even on 3 tabs a day, i never ovulated, so had to move to more invasive procedures, but for some people, it works fantastically (there are a number of clomid bubs on BB!)

if you haven't o'd, you might be given more progesterone and dose of clomid increased. at least for a while, this is going to be a VERY experimental time, so as much as you need to hope it will work, be prepared that you might have to tweak things a bit

    good luck

Hi Melis - I just wanted to add that at my first appt with my gyno she asked me if I had a full bladder as she had wanted to do an US, I didn't. I have my second appt tomorrow so am going to go in with something in there and try not to head to the loo whilst I'm in the waiting room!
