I'm new to the forum but I hope you can help me out! I'm a week late for my period and I went to the doctor yesterday who said that there is a high likelihood I could be pregnant based on the information I gave her and my current symptoms. Sheshot me to have a blood test which I got the results from today, they were negative. My doctor said to go back in a week for another test if I still haven't got my period. She thinks it is too early because we are going by the average length of my cycles which is 28 days, but I have had one 32 day cycle this week, so she estimated based on the longer cycle and said that it's probably too early at this stage if I am. But I thought the blood test was really sensitive?
Anyway, I'm sorry if this is TMI, but for the last few days, I've noticed that my CM has been really thick, then when I tried to check it this afternoon, it was still thick but there was a smear of fresh blood. Directly after that, I had some really light cramping, like menstrual cramps, but they went away after an hour. I haven't had any spotting onto my liner and I've checked my CM twice since, both times it was lightly blood stained (brown blood, not fresh red blood).
I am completely confused now, I don't know what to think. because this is totally different to the usual onset of my period, I know spotting and bleeding can occur in early pregnancy, but it's a bit late for either implantation or breakthrough bleeding, isn't it?
Gah. Sorry I'm on my phone and it wouldn't let me scroll down to the bottom of the post to add the last bit. I was just going to say:
So I am just after some advice from those of you who have more experience with this than I do. Is this just my period rearing it's ugly head? Is it a definite no based on the blood results? Even though the doctor said it may be too early, I know how sensitive the blood tests can be, so I assumed if I was pregnant, it would show up on that test. Am I wrong?
Hard to say hun - if you were having a long cycle it could be that you o'd later and therefore implanted later. A pg test will only pick it up (blood or poas) after implantation has occurred. So your Dr could well be right in saying it's too early - maybe buy a couple of home kits and check again in a few days, or go back for a repeat BT with your Dr if you still haven't got your period
