When in your cycle to have a HSG done?

I am having a HSG done in December or January when I can ttc again after ectopic pregnancy and removal of my tube. Just wondering when the best time in your cycle is to have it done? I have heard before O as it can help the passage for the egg that is due to release shortly afterwards. Does the dye not caue problems if in the event you did get pregnant that cycle? (which is unlikely for me anyhow but just say it did)

I was told just after AF but before O is the best time, thats when I had mine, and yeah I've also heard it 'clears things out'. I'm not sure what the risks are though, you'd have to ask the technician who does the HSG.

I had an HSG done last year and the clinic were very specific in saying that it should be done on day 10 of your cycle. After AF but before any potential ovulation.

I actually fell pregnant that cycle, following the clearing of the HSG but unfortunately miscarried.

The dye doesn't cause any problems because it all just comes back out or absorbs. It's non toxic.

You need to have it after AF finishes and before you O so that your lining is as thin as possible and there is no chance you are pregnant.

The place I went to wouldn't do them after day 10 of a cycle. I had mine done day 6 (after a 4 day AF + 1 day spotting).
