Who Has Conceived Naturally At 40 Plus?

I had my first child at 38 and have endured a pregnancy-related condition which has caused me chronic pain and is likely to recur with a second child. Ideally, I would like to let my mind and body heal properly before TTC again but at the same time, I'm in a bit of a panic (understatement) that I'm leaving/have already left things too late.

So, I just wanted to ask how many BBers have conceived naturally at 40 plus?

She's not quite a BB'er but my mother did - she was 38 when she had me and 41 when my brother was born.

My mum had my brother at 45 and my sister at 41. She had her first at 16. 9 all up and she has m.s. I really don't know how she did it.

    Hi there Fiona

... well, I concieved naturally with my 1st born bub at 39 & a half ... & gave birth to that sweet bub a girl in my 40th year (actually I was 25wks pregnant on my 40th b'day) ... also I did it with the help of the herbal formula from the Ruth Sharkey's Healing Centre

We are trying for number 2 & I'm now 42 (well, to be exact 42 & a half as of two days ago)

All the absolute very best to you

    I did.

I conceived 3 times last year without medical intervention even though my gyno told me I needed IVF (due to age factors) and while I was on a waiting list for a fibroid resection. The first two ended in early miscarriages at around the 5 week mark. Devastating but unfortunately very common over 40. I think it's something like a 50% m/c risk over 40.

The last pregnancy was successful and my little man was born just over 3 weeks ago at one month past my 42nd birthday. He is absolutely perfect which was a huge relief as we'd been given a 1/37 risk of downs syndrome (amnio showed no abnormalities).

I had what I would consider an easy pregnancy symptomwise, no morning sickness at all, and just minor things like fluid in my feet, bleeding gums & minor aches and pains throughout. I even worked up to 3 weeks before my due date (a week and a half before I had him). The labour was long and not exactly easy but I don't know if that was age related.

I wish you the best of luck. Oh, and by the way, I had a history of infertility when I was younger so it appears I became more fertile as I got older.

A friend in my MG, conceived her first at 40 and is now pregnant with her second at 41. Both naturally conceived and will be 14 months apart!
My Grandma conceived my mum when she was 50. You can imagine her surprise.

My friend just gave birth to her little girl, she conceived at 41 and gave birth at 42. It was her 3rd month of trying naturally and 10 years after her last child!

I have conceived a few times since I turned 40 but lost all the babies. Still TTC but I would try as soon as you can. HTH.
