I got one for christmas, it's a Cuisinart (and they come in heaps of cool colours!). It's ok to experiment with, but to be honest if you are big icecream eaters I wouldn't recommend getting one. It only makes about 1 1/2 litres, so if you only have a little every once in a while then it would do fine, but if you're like my dad/brothers and go through 4 litres/week then I'd say stick to supermarket icecream. Lol. Could get quite exxy if you're making it often, just a basic vanilla icecream uses 1 cup milk and 2 cups cream.

Im the same as Kim, have the KA attatchement and even though I really love it, it's not something that I use regularly because you can't just make a spur of the moment decision to use it, it takes a couple of days prep. Another thing, it is really quite expensive to make a litre of homemade icecream. Don't get me wrong, the ice cream maker churns out some absolutely devine stuff, but could become very exy making it all the time.

If I lived in a metro area I would definitely agree on the cost lol, but where we live icecream is more expensive than gold due to freighting costs!

Hi. I have a two litre cuisinart and it is brilliant. We have used it about four times this year which I think is pretty good. You can make two batches in one day as long as you get six hours bowl freezing in. You can
Also purchase extra freeze bowls separately for $70 or so. In short, I love it!

If you store the freezer bowl in the freezer permanently, then you can make it at a moment's notice (well, still have to cool the mix first)

I have a Sunbeam that I got for free from freecycle. For Christmas i got the icecream maker attachment to go with my Kenwood Chef. I use it about once every couple of weeks and love it. Mainly to make Green Tea Ice cream. It's divine and so easy to make. So far I haven't made the typical custard based ones.
I do agree with what the others have said. i find the amounts it makes too small. I would love to be able to make about 4l at a time. Mine makes about 2 and that just doesn't last...
