Ooooooooooooooooo Christy, tell me about the new pasta attachment. It seems really idiot proof, which might be right up my alley! The rollers scare me... I get the impression that they require a certain degree of pasta making skill? LOL!

Just crashing the thread to ask one question - how does the KA compare to a Thermomix?
Cos thats what I've got my eye on, even though they are more expensive, but they come with all attachments and do everything it seems? Just want to know if its worth the extra money :)
Oooh... I have a $200 voucher to spend at David Jones, didn't realise they stock KA! Their 'Price Promise' only applies to items in stock in a store in the same city. Peter's of Kensington sells them for $632... but I'm in Melbourne. Anyone know the cheapest place to buy a KA in Melbourne so I can get DJ's to price match and spend my voucher???
ETA DJ's price (on the website) is $795!!
I have found our local DJs doesn't really stock much KA and they are very very exxy when they do. DH found Kitchenware direct cheaper than even Peter's of K.
yeah when i was looking Kitchenware were mostly cheaper - and what they weren't cheaper with, they would price match. POK have delivery charges, while KD don't.
by price matching and taking into account the free postage i saved a heap on the KA and accessories through KD. and the service was pretty good too
I think the main reason that I shy away from kitchenware direct is that if anything happens, you have to pay for the postage to WA and then the postage to NSW..... it seems a bit much for bigger items.
The pasta press is awesome. However, a lot of people don't like it. Personally, I like it because if you find your groove, its the easiest thing to use. My DD1 who is 6 can make a batch of pasta in 15 minutes and that means its quicker than taking her to the shops to get pasta if we are out. I love the spaghetti and the rigatoni.
The pasta press is dear, but I love it and would buy it if I didn't get mine for free. I prefer it to the rollers, but a lot of foodies would think I was freak.
nah, i checked with KD, i think they had some issues with people saying the same so they said they'd arrange it direct to NSW
I wanted a Thermomix too!!!!!
Me and Ad watch them on youtube, and are in love!!!!
I love how it chills and heats.
Were renting out downstairs for a few days over the CMF, so will have money up our sleeve to put towards someting, but I cant pick!!!
Can I get a Thermomix in purple though??????
Pretty Butterfly, you sound like me. If it comes in purple I'm Sold!
Decisions! Decisions! Wonder which one you'll choose???
Whichever one Adam says I can afford... so prob the KA......
its been a big day for us  I used my KA for the first time to make a yum dip and :o I ordered the attachment pack with the mincer/slicer
Yummo! Po5! Way to go!
Where did you order the attachments from?
amazon dot com :D
FYI POK (Peters of Kensington) have the KAs for $619.00.
anyone need anything grated?? sliced?? minced??
I got my pack today and there is nothing left in the fridge that hasnt had a once over in Keith
Po5 how much did it cost for delivery?
$20 so $140 all up which is half the price of it here
I have a friend going to the US and at Macy's they have the shredder for US$60. I'm going to get that as I don't think I'll use the other attachments. I'm also hoping for a cover if they have it.
Oh I called my KA Betty Boysenberry
the shredder is fantastic!!
Im going to attempt to use the mincer today :o
yesterday Keith and I made bread, potato bake and grated a block of cheese!! never again will I buy pre grated cheese
today we will be making pizza dough for tomorrow nights pizza night :D
And there's no dramas with them working on oz machines? Is it only the ice-cream maker that doesn't work?
I'm currently researching cause I think I'm going to get one!! I even recorded tvsn the other day when they were demoing them!! They did ice cream which looked so awesome but I wouldn't have room for the bowl attachment in my freezer :(
Ooooh - I'm joining in too - I got mine for Xmas! It's bright red and matches my kettle and toaster :D I got the baking attachments with it, but there are so many others that would be awesome to have.
DH says our house always smells like a bakery and the kitchen looks like one! He's wondering why he didn't get me one sooner - LOL
I have re-discovered my love of baking things from scratch much to the joy (and possible weight gain) of my family :) Haven't named it yet, though.............
Ezmay - if it goes into the hob then it fits the european models. I have the pasta attachment and accessory pack from the USA and they work and fit perfectly. The ice cream maker doesnt fit. Buying attachments from the USA does void their warranty as they are only covered in the country of purchase but i figure that they are 1/3 of the cost here so if they do break then i can afford to replace them and still save money :D
I am very pleased to announce the addition to our family of Beatrice, my lovely new Boysenberry baby.
I printed off the POK webpage and took it to DJ's Chadstone. They agreed to price match without too much problem so she cost me $619 - bargain!!
Now to decide on attachments...
That's awesome Nickle! Congratulations!
The boysenberry is a great colour choice :)
tonight we had tandori chicken burgers :o so yum
I was so proud that I accualy minced something
Mmmm... tandoori chicken burgers, yum!
I just ordered the accessory pack from amazon - sooo much cheaper. I got a cover too, in case Beatrice feels cold. I didn't get the ice cream maker (which I really want!) because I remember reading that the amazon one doesn't work in Oz. Can anyone confirm that that's correct??
nickle730 yep thats correct I was going to get one too but there is lots of feedback about them on the fb kitchenaid page. I cant believe the price difference!!
Im thinking of getting the pasta press thingy next but Ive never ever made pasta before so Im trying to justify the cost
Yeeeeehaaaaaaa, I just ordered the grater and mincer pack. I can't wait.... DF was eating his chilli last night and said he thinks the grated cheese would have tasted better if it were grated on the KA.... PML
Does anyone have a KitchenAid food processor? Sooo close to giving in and buying one!
we have the FP Rooey
love it!
Oooh now I'm really really close to buying one!!!
we use ours every couple of days at least
Oh so i made pasta for the first time last weekend. OMG! so easy and so yummy - i did fettaccini one day and it was so quick that i made some lasagne sheets too. My bench was a mess but well worth it for the taste. I used the recipe of POK website but instead of mixing it together with the paddle first i just used the dough hook the whole way (saw them so this on the Hairy Bikers with a KA) and it was perfect!
Ooh yum! Was it wheat flour pasta?
ok, I've just come home from Costco and am amazed to say that I saw they had the Kitchen Aid there! It was around $650. It was red. I don't know what model it was. Is this good? I'm considering sending DH back to get it for my birthday. That or the awesome spin bike I saw there!
MG I got mine for $638 from Home Depto.
PoK have it for $619 and a previous post noted they took the print out to DJs and they price matched it.
THanks CB! Told DH - if I get one it will be for my birthday and therefore HIS issue to deal with! :)
Me, me! I got DJ's to price match... $619.
