1. 6 months
2. Probably once a day on average (although some work days I CBF cooking AT ALL so I wouldn't use it then). And more often now that I'm getting into breakfast smoothies.
3. Peanut butter, chickpea cookies, breakfast smoothy, pineapple whip, banana muffins
4. Any cake/biscuit batter, risotto (I never cooked it before getting the thermi), sorbet or the like (a great, easy one is frozen banana whipped up with peanut butter. It's sooooo yummy & ice-creamy but EASY and good for you too!)
Oh no I was hoping it would cure me of my laziness :-) might pretend I haven't read your response when trying to convince DH (although is likely to be present from parents for next five Christmas and Birthdays I don't see why he should object - parents living in another country I think has distinct advantages in some areas ;-))
TBH, not really. But in fairness my CBF days are mainly because my family is SUCH a PITA. They all have different aversions to different things so there are very few meals that everyone will eat happily. Because I am a sucker I tend to make more than one meal every night. That was one of my main reasons for getting the TMX - knowing that if I'm making say, 3 meals in a night it dramatically decreases kitchen time & makes things much easier.
E.g. DH doesn't eat tomato-based pasta sauces, he likes white sauce. So if I'm making pasta, I will have red sauce or pesto sauce and I can do a TMX white sauce (in 7 minutes, no lumps, perfect every time & it won't get spoiled on the stove because I've forgotten about it) at the same time. Oh, and with the TMX I can make my own pesto too - soooo much tastier than the bought stuff! Obviously not at the same time but I'll have made mine earlier or something.
Another example is I'll do a boring meat & 3 veg for DH & the girls while the TMX is making me a risotto or a soup that I can then portion off and freeze for lunches or dinners. Phoebe will eat those but the others won't.
So I think if your family are 'normal' and eat the same meals then it would reduce your CBF days because there are some very easy recipes to make as long as you've got the ingredients there. The thing I love about it is that for most things I like to cook it's just put-everything-in-and-off-you-go.
ETA: Just remembered, Wysiwyg, I won DH over with the sorbet. When I told him I could make sorbet from scratch whenever he liked he was sold on it.

Great thread! It's making me think that maybe I'd like one. I have a question though, how many of the things you make with your thermomix did you make prior anyway? I for instance am often baking, have started making my own bread with my bread machine, we make currys from scratch....is it more for the time saving aspect, or did you not cook these things before?
EDIT - I also have an ice cream maker which I use occasionally but it generally takes quite a while by the time you mix the ingredients, cool in the fridge and then mix in the maker - are all these steps involve with the thermomix?
I make some curries without the TMX. Some with. To make the ice cream/sorbet the ingredients need to be frozen. But we just have a draw full of frozen fruit, coconut milk etc ready to go.
Here's another wow factor. You can make a tin of coconut milk/cream with 40gms dessicated coconut and 400mls water
The beauty of the TMX for me is that I didn't have a food processor or ice-cream maker or even digital scales prior to the purchase, so for me, I'm really not doubling up on anything which kind of makes it more worthwhile.
And no, I didn't make a lot of this stuff in the past because it all seemed like too much hard work.
I did do plenty of baking but the time involved is much shorter now (cake/biscuit/pancake batters, sauces, melting chocolate etc). I'm sure there are things I'm still yet to make out of the awesome cookbook that I find will save me time also. Just haven't discovered them yet.
I'm still learning and wasn't a great cook before. I have an ice cream churn and I used to make bread by hand (not had a bread maker before), but the thermomix makes making the dough and custard base heaps easier. Plus you don't have to get the cooked bread out of the dough hooks in the bread maker and you can choose the shape of the loaf.
