Dragoncookie i think Muffy is way to fit for me, she goes to alot of classes that i would die in. Maybe later on when im a bit more fit, rather than a sluggish slob which is how i feel at the moment. I would be way to self conscious with her, she is great motivation but im not ready for her gym yet.
I joined weight watchers online today.
I make bad financial decisions when I am half asleep.
Anyway.
I am going to 'start' on Sunday. I don't normally say that but as we are going away for 10 days I have to empty the fridge which might involve the unhealthy things that are already there. I also dont know how well we will go in QLD because mum has already paid for meals etc but as we are on limited cash now hopefully we can cut the snacking etc.
I am going to get back on the 'water only' bandwagon over the next few days and trawl the recipes and get shopping lists ready and 'replacement' meals for DH etc.
What do people do for lunches when they are 'out'? I start uni 21 Feb and lunches will be a hurdle for me. They are a hurdle for me now and there is no particularly difficult aspect to it.
We got slack by having money to waste and a waste it has been. While we are in QLD we are going to try and get out and about every night after dinner and also try get little one back into a good routine.
I need to get my license so that I can drive myself to and from the gym. I will start going at least 3 times a week when we come back from QLD.
I am going to start a blog again too, i think.

I had a lap band in july and whilst Ive lost a bit I still have another 30kgs to go
its amazing the issues Ive had with the whole head hunger thing and as embarrassed as I am to addmit it I've kind of gone thru a greiving proccess.

I have to disagree about the shakes (for me anyway). I love them but that's because my issue wasn't portion control, it was food and snack choices... And the fact that I made poor choices because of no time. So for me shakes are a way of having a super convenient meal whether I'm driving or working in the office etc - there's no excuses!
I'm time poor too, and I don't use it as an excuse but it means I have to try really hard with food choices because I know I won't be exercising regularly. I work 4 days, have 15 mth old son and am also doing some additional study atm.. It's also nice to try and fit in time with dh!
Mad, I think you mentioned diet jelly.... My life line! I love it and always have some in the fridge. If I am really struggling with time I will a shake and jelly for lunch because it's pre-made. I also eat it as a snack, dessert - anything, I just love it!
Well I was quite sick on tues and lost about 1.5 in the day, down to 102.5. I'm going to weigh myself this morning though and expect to go back to the 104 I was now that I can keep food and liquid down again!
We have visitors with us until Sunday which makes eating well rather challenging. Since we only see them once or twice a year it's like a festival! I live on the bayside of Brisbane, but Brisbane is not much to see ATM (poor floods) so we went to beach yesterday, seaworld today and harbourtown Tomorrow... I'm still having a shake a b'fast but not lunch if we're going out. I just keep telling myself it's ok to have a break as long as I don't binge!

An easy lunch to pack: tinned tuna or salmon (I prefer salmon, with the bones..very good calcium source). I like the mountain bread wraps (lots of different choices), as bread can make you feel weighed down and bloated. Lettuce, tomato, grated carrot, cucumber...This is something you can put in a container (open the tin at lunchtime):
Often with the kids, the best I manage is an apple, a banana and a cheese sandwich.
Another 'trick' where possible is to take left overs. When I was at uni I had access to a microwave and a fridge (though usually kept my lunch in a cool bag with a freezer block). Leftovers like spagetti bol, a casserole or hearty soup in winter made for a very satisfying lunch.
If you haven't got access to a microwave, a good thermos filled with a casserole or soup is great. You can make a big pot of this once a week. It freezes well, so one big cook up can yield many many meals.
Make sure you always carry a water bottle, you can always refill this through out the day.
I think ultimatly it is about being organised and planning ahead. The weeks I am most successful are the weeks when I have planned the weeks meals (all of them, breakfast, MT, Lunch, AT, dinner). If I don't do this (which, I will admit is most of the time), I find that I make bad choices.
Lunch is definately the hardest meal...
Has anyone tried Body Trim? My BIL & Aunt have done it and have lost loads of weight. I have all the stuff for it here and it sounds great, but definitely not something that can be done whilst breastfeeding.
My most successful diet was Cohens. Keep in mind I have a lot to loose, I lost 24kgs in 13 weeks the last time I did it. The thing with Cohens is that it was designed to help woman with PCOS to conceive. I have done Cohens 3 times and 3 times I have fallen pregnant! Because it is such a low calorie plan, you're not encouraged to start any new exercise or do anything strenuous exercise, In fact, it is better if you don't exercise. Because it is so low in calories, you can't continue when you're pregnant or breastfeeding. I have seen loads of successful weight loss through cohens, but I have seen loads of people regain afterwards, especially if they haven't continued right until the end (I am one of these people)
The best thing that came from me doing Cohens was DD2 & the baby I am carrying right now. Before doing Cohens and falling pregnant with DD2, I was getting AF every 70 days or so.

Yeah I know about the Cohens program - did that for a while but lost it mentally when I saw I was likely to be a size 6-8 at the end when I should have been my ideal weight so I didn't finish it :( I'd be back on it again if I wasn't BFing - if I started it in autumn and this time I'd make sure I finished it.
I'm currently 94kg (give or take a few hundred grams) and apparently I "should" be 60kgs for my height. I was a size 10-12 when I was that weight back around 2000.
My big problem with summer is I don't do salad - can't stand the crunch factor and have issues with the taste and texture. I'm also not good with tuna (cooked in something like tuna bake okay) but generally can't do it.
I'm another time poor girl (aghh see me pull out the excuses) by the time I get home with DS, it's cook tea and do the after tea routine with him to get ready for bed, it's nearly 8pm :o. And it's a struggle to think about doing anything before school (I'm a teacher) as DS is up for a feed sometime around 5-6 am and then the alarm goes at 7 for the day. I used to before DS get to a 6am class at the gym (when I was going) but haven't done that for a while now. I'm also on implanon atm which can hinder weight loss - on the plus side I lost all the weight I put on while having DS but have hovered between 90-95kg since. (was about 90kg when I fell pg)
Really looking forward to getting some motivation to lose about 10kg but mid year at least. If I go slowly with the weight loss maybe being in the 60s won't be that scary. Hoping to be down in the 70kgs by the end of the year - or pg again :lol:

I didnt think that when I started this there would be so many people replying :)
So I have been on LnE for 2 months but the first month i wasnt 100% into it, I was drinking just about every night, but in the last 3 weeks ive been good, trying to eat all the food only drinking water etc and I lost 2.1 the first week, .5 the second. I will weight myself officialy on Monday night.
LnE was $160 per week 1800 cal and as perviously mentioned all i needed to buy was milk, fruit, eggs, bread everything is supplied, but I wasnt hungry enough and didnt have time to eat all of it so now I'm on 1500 cal lunch and dinner no breakfast, I have a up & go for breakfast.
As for being time poor, I work as a store manager for Hungry Jacks :wall: (part of the reason im so fat) if i start at 4am, im up at 230am, work till approx 4pm pick up DS3yo from sitters wait for Dh to get home around 9pm, bed around 10pm. Then if I have night shift up at 9am, with DS&DH work at 2pm, home around 1am,bed around 130am ish. So for me Lne is convient as i take my lunch for the freezer and eat at work!
My husband works in a office building and they have started a healty 12 program and they a measuring peoples waist lines, to see how they go over the 12 weeks, so we started our own challenge,here are the points to it.
1. We weigh ourselves every monday night.
2. the person who loses the most weight each week will be the "winner" and is awarded $20.00
3. after the 12 weeks, we get the money we "won" and can spend it however we want.
We both love pokies!! so there cant be any pokies in the 12 week period.
Mind you my husband weighed in at...81kg, like seriously I wish i was 81kg, and me ..here we go....i weighed in at...147.9 F#*K!!! But that's a number that will never show up on those scales AGAIN!. :pray:
I was proud of myself yesterday though it was my sister in laws birthday BBQ (australia day) i got a small piece of steak, 1 spoon of potato salad, one spoon of pasta salad and the rest was normal salad. the old me would have had steak, sausage, heaps of potato and pasta salad. and a HUGE slice of birthday cake but yesterday i said.. NO THANKS (yay! first little victory. :clap:

When I did it in 2007 it was around $600-700. That was for the whole program.:
It's quite restrictive in what foods you can eat - reasonably balanced diet though. You have to weigh and measure exact quantities for each meal, although I did cook up several batches and froze some for later eating. There is a protein with each meal (egg, tofu, cheese, natural yoghurt, chicken or beef) and the veg available to choose to accompany the meal was restricted - not much variety there from memory. And there was restrictions in what type of fruit you could have.
You were also recommended to drink 2-3L of water a day - apparently the closer to 3L the better the weight disappeared. I ended up having cooked meat & veg for most meals. It took until right near the end of me doing it to find a natural yoghurt that I could cope with.
The bit I didn't get to :wall: was the re-introducing foods that weren't allowed so that your body got used to using those foods again. Apparently once you had finished introducing foods you could drop a couple of kgs (can't remember the exact details here as I didn't get there) while going back to the really strict type foods for a couple of days. They wouldn't let you do the re-introducing unless you were a couple of kilos off your goal weigh which they specified through some formula. www. cohens .com. au has info if you want more.
You needed to have blood tests every 4 weeks or so (from memory) to check that things were going the way they were supposed to. They cost extra because Cohens don't do them.
The Sureslim program is similar to the Cohen's program apparently (according to the Cohens consultant I was talking to - apparently based on the Cohen's program but not quite the same)

Last time I paid for Cohens it was $750, which included all the blood tests.
Cohens is tailored to your needs, but you don't get a say in the foods. It is very, very strict. Some people like that, some people hate it. I personally found it to be brilliant but very challenging. The biggest motivator for me was the instant and consistant weight loss. I also found the simplicity in the food to be a nice change. I would definitely do it again, but I would like to leave it as a final option as it is so restrictive which for me sucked at times.
Kimmi I'm in mount cotton which is about 30 mins from Brisbane... But I couldn't commit to regular catch up and exercise I'm sorry.
I work 4 days and on my day off take Eli to music and swimming lessons and catch up with some of his baby friends. I'm hoping to change positions at work in a few mths which might make it easier after Easter.
