Thanks Ari.. thats awesome..
But, can you help me alter it slightly.. and when i say help i just me more guide me. I dont eat egg's or cheese. I dont eat fish/tuna/pork/veal and im not a fan of cheerio's.
Can i replace cheerio's with cornflakes?
veal/pork with chicken/lamb/beef?
baked beans- can it be the flavoured ones such as bbq ? (yes, due to my fussy ways they are the only ones i eat)
OH and what can replace avocado?
he he he he thanks :)
Its a great start for sure :)
hmmm ok - cheerios are 110 calories per 30g serve. check on the cornflakes box to see what they are. If they are in kj's - just divide it by 4.
veal/pork can be replaced with chicken and beef - but lay off the lamb ...
baked beans - best they are the plain ones - but if you have the bbq ones - check what the calories are on the side -and just go without biscuits or something that day.
replacing avocado... hmm... ok... from memory avo is pretty high in calories so you could probably get away with having some tomato on toast, or some banana? (Mmmmmm banana on toast.. yummooo)
Can't help you with the tuna though. Maybe have 75g of chicken instead of tuna?? I just chucked some different things in the menu so we wouldn't get too bored!!!!
Hope that helps.
Oh dontr get me wrong. its going to really help me big time... im just the fussiest person you will ever meet! :( i hate it but i am..
i love it Ari... i actually feel good, like i have something to follow and other's to do it with which is good. AND they are food's i can feed the haud! lol :)
Mel I'm starting the diet on Monday. Monday's always seem like a good day to start things!
I love everything that you've put on the diet so there will be no problems following it!
Amy - sounds great !!!
I'm back on it.. maybe tomorrow.. depending on how quickly I can finish the chocolate in the fridge.. pmsl...
I'm going for a walk today though - putting DS in the pram and putting DD in the carrier.. that should work...... well thats my plan.. whether or not I get there is another thing altogether.. lol
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to get through this assignment that is due Friday then work called me in to do an afternoon shift so no bike ride for me today! Just have to be careful with what I shove in my mouth. Selena made me a salad for tea with ham and pineapple and all so at least I dont have the choice of getting something naughty. I could do with the break away from this assignment. Its on preeclampsia and shoulder dystocia seems pretty straight forward but oh so very long! I'm working in maternity ward at the moment so its a bit more relaxed than birthsuite, sounds alright to me for today! Will just have to get patients up at the far end of the ward so I need to run back and forth all night that way I can get a bit of exercise happening. Talk to you all soon!
Leanne
AHHHHHHHH ME = FRUSTRATED! lol hahahaha im so clucky right now! IT has hit me... i say it cause this is how our other 2 made it here... i just suddenly get this , i dunno.. drive.. this desire.. ahh im not explaining it but im just so clucky...
Man im gonna need to pull on all strengths to not just go for it... wanna loose this weight first!!!!
*silently screams outta frustration* :P
I SOOOO understand that feeling Missy!
Hmmmm... with a 2.30am wake up this morning, and 20 minutes of screaming - I can say I'm not clucky AT ALL today......
Missy - I definitely know what you mean. I get it too and cant stop thinking about it but then I dont want to get preggers without losing weight and push myself into the high risk category simply because I was too clucky lol. I really have to finish midwifery before we try too, it can be pretty stressful with assignments coming outa my ears but gotta keep going, couldn't forgive myself if I quit and I just love my job too. Only 2 mths before I finish uni so I shouldn't complain and just get stuck into it.
Call me naive Mel, but at 2am wakeup to settle a newborn sounds like bliss to me!!
If thats the case Amy, you are welcome to come and visit me and crash at our place anytime!!! LOL
But you have to get up at 6am to the toddler as well.. so thats into bed at 11pm after settling newborn, getting up at 2.30.... getting back to sleep at 4am.. and up at 6am...
Still want the job in this house?? LOL
Anytime Mel ;)
Mel, I have to agree with Amysarah. When Miss Charli was a newborn she was waking at about 10.30, 1.30am and 4.30am for a feed. but I was lucky by 12 weeks she was just waking at about 5am.
How old is Mehlekti now? Sounds like she is doing really well :)
Lea, I'm like you. I really want to lose the 20 kilo's for the sake of having a healthy pregnancy. With charli I developed PE at 35 weeks and I know there is apparently no link between weight and PE but I think if I'm healthier it will definately help. And I sooo want a vbac next time so will be doing everything to improve my chances.
Mel- ouch..... thats a killer. Does hubby help out much? will they both sleep for you today so you can get some zzz's?
My daughter woke every 2 hour's for her first 4 months (and she did this nearly all day long so i wouldnt get much chance to sleep, not if i wanted to eat and shower lol)... i by the end of that 4 months was a wrek!
Amy- awwwwww your nieve'ness is refreshing..... but just wait! When you have had a string of good, un disturbed night's sleep.... it is EASY to deal with a newborn. BUT, when you have a toddler, who by all means would of had you up most night's so by the time #2 come's your already sleep deprived, living the routine that Mel did last night (and most nights) really is so exauughsting you loose the capability to 'enjoy' the 2 am fee'ds and cuddles.... cause im sure Mel, like myself really enjoyed them when it was all new... with our firsts.... :)
Lea- ok then, so we both need to feed eachother's strength!!! Cause i so nearly blew it last night, im just damn lucky DF is soooooooo controlled! See i went off the pill 2 months ago, so my body could have a break before we ttc. So we use condoms atm, welllllllllll as you can see by my post from last night, when DF did the good ol' tap on the shoulder when he got into bed, i soooooooooooooo just wanted to DTD without condom's!!!! But, good ol' fathful DF who is very good at control, got the condom .... uno what was weird for me, as soon as he did that meh, i couldnt of been less interested... really killed the mood. :( lol my body has fully kicked into ttc mode..... i think cause he got the condom (so no chance of baby lol) my body just turned off.. how weird is that.?!
Isnt it funny how we work..
Last week, i was insistant on condom's... and although i knew i wanted more i wasnt really clucky.... and then bam!!!! all i can think/talk about is baby's... and it has gotten to me so much it altered my sexual being ...... i definately dont want it to do that with DF as he will then feel like just a "sperm donor" and think im not interested in him just for what we do together... its so hard to explain how strong this is... i tried last niht, but i just couldnt explain it right..... :S
Ahhh well....
Well, better go and get some things done..
So, when is whoever is doing Mel's diet, starting it? im just trying to work out when to start it, so i know and can plan! (i.e buy the food for the diet and not buy the food not on the diet ha ha ha)
Ok, me out for now
OHHHH by the way... My name's Rebecca- but you guys can call me Becc :) (but shhhhh no one else on Belly Belly knows hehehehehe :P )
I am starting on Monday. DH and I had "Cheap Tuesday" for dinner last night and I told him I was starting on Monday. He said "Why don't you just start tomorrow?" I replied "Umm hello, AS IF you can start anything mid week..."
Hello girlies!!
great read and also a great post! i am new.. as i keep saying.. and jsut to give a bit of back ground.. i currently do not have any children.. hubby and i jsut got into a private health fund three months ago and decided to start trying in september.. surprise surprise i am nearly two days late for my AF.. and i am in denial thinking im not UTD even tho i have the signs.. i think im in doubt because it was our first try hahaha and thinking as if i could be taht lucky!! going to do a test soon tho!
as for loosing weight.. i cop alot of flack although i only way 73kgs and 174cm i am a healthy bmi.. i would have liked to have lost 4 or 5 kgs b4 falling pregnant although just started a job that requires sitting on my butt allll day long! (property management) it makes it hard to maintain weight.
although they say that dieting isnt a good thing when pregnant would it be correct in say that eating healthy.. and only eating when your hungry (as long as ur maintaining breaky lunch and dinner) and along with excersise.. u shud be right..
i mean i go to the gym 3-4 times a week.. admittedly i have been doing those pump classes and spin classes.. i was under the understanding as long as ur taking things easy (doing things at ur own pass.. not at a bullet of a gate ur right)
i have tried those shake diets before.. (a few years back) and as soon as i have stopped it loads the weight back on...
to be honest with summer comming my favourite breaky is 'carrot.. celery.. bettroot.. apple.. spinach and giner juice' sounds gross but is actually yummy. i drink heaps of water which seems to stop the habit of snacking bad foods and usally eat a salad and meat for lunch and vegies and meat for dinner. i think tis every thing in moderation and also keeping a diary helps to remember those little naughty moments taht you have.. which i think is very important other wise your diet can become rather boring.
hope i can obtain some great advise from you all along the way because i dont know every thing and could probably be doing something better hahaha and would love to still maintain if not loose alittle around my thighs even tho i may be UTD (that probably sounds terrible!)
Thanks Bec - yup I haven't slept through the night since... well before I fell pregnant with DS...
So yes, joys of 2am feeds are way out of the question. And no naps during the day. Ahhh how I long for the days of just having a newborn to deal with!!!
I'm starting diet on Monday too :)
Hi and welcome Amsta, sounds like you may be UTD and if you are congrats. You sound like you are the ideal weight to get pregnant, you dont want to be too slim when you fall pregnant cos more often than not those are the girls who put more weight on than those a little above average. Wishing you good luck with it all!
Bec - your post made me laugh. It is funny how our bodies react when we are in baby making mode. I get that clucky that i just cant think of anything else but then i remember i cant do anything about it til december lol. its not that easy for me hehe. Maybe knowing i have to wait til i finish midwifery will make me get through these assignments faster....nah! not a chance lol
Spice- You poor thing having PE from 35 wks! were you made to stay in hospital? I know its very uncomfortable. Thats right there is no real link between being overweight and PE but it does cause other complications so would be a good idea if I lose it to avoid that. They are building a new birthing centre here in Townsville so I would love to go through and birth there but you have to be low risk so hopefully! you never know your luck! To try for a vbac that would be great, its so nice when you hear of women wating to try rather than opting for a repeat c/s straight away. You have left enough time for your scar to heal too so your chances look good. what was the reason for your c/s last time?
Hi everyone.
Sorry I missed you Amsta. Welcome. It sure does sound like you may be UTD ;)
Lea, I was hospitalised for a few days. Then sent home to rest as aldomet helped with my BP. I had protein in my urine but not a huge amount. I was monitored by OB and had a scan at 37 weeks which showed placenta calcification so OB said it was best for bub to be delivered within that week. I wanted to be induced but bub was not engaged and my cervix was unfavourable so I took my OB's advice and had a cs. In hindsight I think I could have been monitored for longer to see if I went into labour spontaneously. When I had the cs the anaesthetist could not get the epi to work so I was given a GA which as you can imagine was completely devastating for me. Thats why I so badly want a VBAC next time.
Lea I really hope you get the egg on your first go. I was lucky enough to fall pg with Charli on the first try (how do I know - we only DTD once that month - sad I know:rolleyes:)
It seems like you've got ovulation time all sorted with your charting etc. My only other tips are: make sure you lay down with your hips elevated for half an hour afterwards. And also I had read in a conception book that some women produce too much cervical mucous which can actually prevent enough sperm to enter the uterus and a good remedy for keeping cervical mucous thin was to take a dose or two of robitussen around ovulation time. I did this just in case and it could have helped.
Sorry for getting off track everyone.
Now, back to losing weight. I'm going to start this friday. Mondays never work for me . . .
What does everyone think of having like a chart on everyone's progress that we update every week? like, starting weight and stuff and then loss to date - would keep us motivated (or me anyway cos my number is so high!! lol)
Hi Amsta - welcome and fingers crossed for your positive result!!!
Mel I think that's a great idea.
The last time I weighed myself was about 4 months ago and I was 69.8. I refused to get back on them until I was sure I had lost some because I didn't want to see 70kgs. Well I certainly haven't lost any weight so getting on those scales again is going to be a huge deal. My first weigh in will be Monday morning.
(BTW: I am really short so 70kg is overweight as far as BMI goes for me.)
OMG 70kg is so skinny (to me!) and I'm a shortar$e too.
I don't know if I want to admit my numbers now...lol.... everyone will be like.."OMG Mel is such a blubber lover..."
The beauty of the internet is anonymity!!
My guess is that I now weigh 75kgs. I was 64kgs this time last year (at my wedding) and even then I felt big. My goal weight is between 55-60kgs which puts me back in the "healthy" BMI range.
Haha dont worry Mel my number is pretty high too, hmmm contemplating letting it slip, need to sit on that one for a bit I reckon.
Spice - thanks for the advice. we have it all worked out with the insemination i think as long as my cycle behaves itself and i gotta say its remarkable so far and been charting for about 6 mths now. Got all my hormone levels checked last month and they are spot on too so fingers crossed the spermie meets the egg first go. Heres hoping!!
Anyway, I better be getting ready for work...boohoo! Ahh but maybe i need a baby fix, just to give me that bloody cluckiness again lol.
Hmm, I'm a bit scared to reveal my weight at the moment too . . .
Lea you have a beautiful job. I cannot wait to be a midwife sometime in the near future. Just not sure whether to go down the nursing then post grad in mid path, or do a bachelor of mid.
Now I feel a bit silly for fessing up about my weight!
Awwwwwwww don't feel silly.... I just feel fatter...lol
Maybe we could go off BMI then??
My BMI is 28.
The link to a BMI calculator is here.
Amy - dont feel silly about fessing up bout your weight! you might be a skinny binny to me but thats just my perception of ideal weight. its a totally individual thing. For me, I feel at my best when I am about 80 - 85 kg, I love having curves but thats just me, I'd look like a lollipop if I was any less than that. I dont really have any idea what weight I am now, I just know I fit into a 16 to 18 size. A comfortable size 14 to 16 and I will be happy.
Spice - If you are contemplating on being a midwife I would suggest becoming an RN first. Your scope of practice is just that much more when you do your midwifery and you will feel a hell of a lot more confident but thats not to say there isnt fantastic direct entry midwives. For me it gives you more options if you are also a registered nurse but it might not suit somebody else. Well thats my thoughts anyway. There is more to it but thats all I have time for.
Cheers, better run!
Leanne
Well we could go off dress size then. My current dress size is 14-16 bottoms and 12-14 top.
Ideally I would like to be a comfortable 12 in all areas.
Amysarah, you certainly don't have to worry about fessing up about your weight. I am a size 16-18 atm and when I got married 3.5 years ago I was 20 kilo's lighter and a size 14. I felt really good and healthy at that size, and although I could lose more than 20 kilos I don't really give a rats. It's a very individual thing. And I don't think that the BMi thing is totally accurate as it does not take into account a persons build and there can be such a huge variance in bone structure from person to person.
Well, i am SO not revealing how much i weight. Mind you i have weighed myself in over 5 months, but i know the last time i stood on scales i nearly vomited everywhere!
Surfice to say, when i fell pregnant with our daughter in 2004.. i was 70kg's.. which for me is perfect!!! Im not that short so it is good.. and i have a big structure (shoulder's/boobs etc) so any lighter i reckon i look sick.
From the sounds of it so far, im the biggest here :( :( :( ah well..... more too loose i guess!!!!!
Ok better go
OH and hey there amsta ;) looking forward for the morning heheheheheheh
Oh and Lea, if you feel comfortable, would you mind telling me of your situation? I find is amazing and so awesome.... but just dont know much about it all ... (insemination etc etc) like do you know the person? or? its pretty exciting.... :)
Hi Missy,
Yep no worries but it doesn't really match this thread. If you read my blog I have explained most of whats happening there like the big decision in choosing the right donor was really hard but we found the right person in the end. I dont think we could choose an unknown donor as we would like the donor to have a small amount of contact. But yeah have a look at it and I am happy to answer any of your questions :D
How is everybody else today? I slept in today, last night at work was so busy I dont think I sat down all night. I have been behaving myself in the food department the last few days but have found it hard to go for a bikeride since I work til 11pm and its hard to get up in the mornings and do that, I prefer late afternoon exercise so might have to wait til the weekend when I have a couple of days off (to do assignments) but all the same have some free time for exercise. When to find a moment with Selena hmmm busybusybusy!
I had a big milo for breakfast .
Really excited to be starting on Monday. Somehow I am trying to justify all the bad stuff I am eating this week because I'm telling myself I'm starting a diet soon!
Going to a pub for lunch with some girls from work and planning on having one of their ceasar wraps (YUM). Might also knock back a vodka and cranberry with a lime.. mmmmm
Yummos Amy, enjoy yourself! Its all good, everything in moderation thats what I say...otherwise i fail lol
Lea- thanks darl, i went and had a look, just a quikc one but couldnt find what i was kinda looking for so will look later.. :)
Amy your lunch sounded DELICIOUS!!!!! mmmmmm
We are off to have dinner with friends at Zagame's so im looking forward to a nice meal and a strong drink.... mmmm been getting into jim beam lately... hated it before lol im normally a scotch person .. or vodka... mmmm but then i do just love a nice glass of red lambrusco mmmmm
OH how is this, my daughter told her kinder room today for show n tell that "mummy is having a baby"!!!!!!  made me laugh.... was soooooo cute. and yesturday she said to me "mummy you got a baby in your tummy?" i said no no buub not yet one day and she replied " yep, might be a boy might be a girl and i will feed them" was soooooooooooo cute..
Whats funny is i havent said a word to her bout it all lol so cute
Well, i mmade a BIG step for me today. I joined Curve's!!! I have a good feeling and start there tomorrow morning... will look at starting to follow mel's eating plan monday....
BUT what is exciting is.. since i last weighed myself, i have lost 5kg's!!!!!! FIVE!!!!! i know i know its not much really, not when your as big as me, BUT, im still happy.. :)
Ok better go.... low fat hugs to you all :) :p
OH NO!!!
I'm going away for the weekend with my DH to Melbourne (it's a long weekend in NSW) and I'll be driving back home on Monday!! This is terrible because it means...
McDonalds :o
Maybe I could start the diet Tuesday? I really don't think I would be able to resist temptation on Diet Day 1!!
Well done Missy on joining Curves
