Me and you both Kim, I've got 2.5 kgs to go to hit pre pregnancy weight, another kg and I'll be extra happy. Guess I shouldn't complain but still this is the frustrating part as you have to REALLY work hard to get the last few off huh. Oh well, good luck to us, let's egg each other on. Everyone else, well done, you've done a fab job!
-
Well done everyone!
Alison - No loss is still better than a gain. Hope you get to make a dent in that 2.5kg this week.
Blackduckies - Welcome and hop right in! I guess Week 8 is the start of Month 3 for us so it's the perfect time to start, but really you can jump in any time here, just PM your measurements to Krysalyss and you're on your way.
Kim - That sounds like my week last week. I lost only 100g too, but I also lost some cms. I think it was because I changed the way I was exercising and my body was adjusting (building muscle). Hopefully it's not a plateau for you. Like you I'm also still feeding and don't want to affect my supply, so I don't know what we can do if we get stuck shifting the last few.
My little one has just started solids and is now on 3 meals a day. BF has been great for weight loss for me with both my boys, so I've been consiously trying to lose weight while BFing. I expect that my weight loss will slow down now that I'm not BFing exclusively. The only things I can think of to ensure I don't lose my weight loss momentum is to keep watching my calories and keep exercising. I may have to drop my calorie budget a bit before the end of the Challenge, but I will see how things track. Beyond that, I have no idea what's 'safe' for my supply :shakehead:
-
Hi guys. OK I am crawling out from under my rock. Basically the last week has been very bad for me (challenge wise). I haven't felt great enough to exercise but have been well enough to eat! And eat I have. The only good thing I did was to play soccer on Friday night. But it wasn't a very good game because our couch was away and our fill in coach and his daughter who plays in our team decided at half time to rip strips off everyone about how badly we were playing (the (grown-up) daughter was even saying how we were all sh*tting her off etc.). We weren't even playing that badly. We were playing the top team and even though we ended up losing by one goal we still got two goals and were ahead at two points in the game. So that really brought everyone down. I said something to them about keeping it constructive but was so angry! If they care that much that should play in the first division not the third!
But anyway I need to find my motivation! I was in such a good way before I got vertigo but have just lost it. Someone kick me up the bum please! I need to find it again. I will go for a jog this afternoon with my soccer ball. I will I will! Even if I don't pull my eating quite back I need to start my exercise again as that is what motivates me.
Sorry I am behind with the thread. You all sound like you are doing so well. :)
-
Hi Krysalyss - I need a kick up the bum too, I'm really not trying very hard I've decided! I would've kicked a goal alright, using that girl's head lol! How rude! I gave up netball a few years ago because I got sick of the *****iness and people being so serious, I was in it for fitness and fun, not to win sheep stations!
Hi Suz - you have done so well mate, you're lucky you had the BF'ing, one thing I was hanging out for when having Amelia was to be able to lose weight easily because of BF'ing....typically not that simple for me grr! I hope next time around I'll be more successful with the BF'ing. You might find that you will still be ok with losing weight, not everyone has success even with BF'ing so you might surprise yourself how much is because you're watching your calories and exercising.:D
-
Hey guys :)
I'm another one thats fallen off the bandwagon in motivation for healthy eating. So much crap has been consumed the last few weeks, they always seem to have great specials on at the shops when I do the grocery shopping and I can't resist. I've told craig that he's doing the grocery shopping from now on, because I just can't help myself in buying those specials!! and of course, if its in the house then I pig out. Shocking. Tsk tsk for me.
Still been exercising though, I really like the cross trainer, although I think its really screwing up my knee, can barely walk today, its a bit depressing. Have to rub voltaren in it, maybe that will help.
Baby has just awoken so thats my time gone!!! DS is currently in the corner for being mean to his sister and saying "I DON"T HAVE TO SHARE".. my arse you do mate - no sharing = corner time!
Anyhoo.. back to it!
-
ha ha Mel you are so like me, if there's crap in the house, I eat it and every time I go to the shop I see the chocolate and think....mmmmm 12 week challenge and go ahead and buy it! LOL As for DS, I love your parenting, it's classic good old parenting and I hope I can learn from you because I think the kids these days get away with too much. The next generation needs to learn some manners for a start I reckon, I hear the way my 16 year old niece speaks to my sister in disbelief, if I had've spoken to my mum like that I would've got the wooden spoon and grounded!!!!!!
-
Hi everyone - good to hear from you all. Sorry no personals, I'm running on 2 hours sleep, so barely have the attention span to type this, lol.
I had two 'days off' from trying to eat well. I kind of feel like I need to do that every now and then, cause the cravings keep creeping up on me, so I figure I'll just get it all over and done with. Exercising still going well.
I have a feeling I'll be having another day or two 'off' this week though - DS is sick again with a middle ear infection. Got 2 hours sleep last night, and so far haven't been able to get him down for a sleep today, so no chance to catch up on sleep yet. Lack of sleep and sick bubbas certainly don't help the whole weight loss process :(.
Keep up the great work everyone.
-
Sterla - let me know if I can do anything for you mate  I know what those days are like with stuff all sleep the night before!!! Had a few of those in my time ;)
Alison - I'm not a total good old fashioned parent, I don't smack the kids (well I have slipped a few times, but when they are still being naughty in time out you kinda think -hmm what else can I do?) but yeah, I do believe in the naughty corner or they get sent to their rooms :) As long as they grow up with respect for others, I know I've done my job properly!!!! And its good to know I have someone else out there that pigs out.. I am sooo shocking. I've had cake today (my cousin gave me some when she came over) and then some bbq chips with DS and sneaked in some chocolate while he wasn't looking.. LOL
But there was one piece of cake left and I let him have it - it was either him or me - so thats a step in the right direction isn't it? LOL
-
Thanks for the welcomes, I will start Monday, seeing as I missed this one...My excuse has beenthe baby, but if youkeep using that as an excuse you will never lose weight...I too see al those goodies on special and can't help buying them, then when I am super tired I sit and eat them..I guess its that energy hit..yesterday i did'nt eat lunch, it was just chips sometiem in the afternoon..then I wonder why its soo hard to lose weight doh!!!
These days I have to excerise to lose weight once a diet was enough, so at the end of the week I will take the twin pram down to mums and when I drop DS and DD's at school and kindy I will go walking.
I have 15 kilos to lose..but my first goal is a dress size / 5 kilos puts me into a size 12-14 comfortablly. Starting Monday I am back on way to being a red hot mummy.
Arimeh...respect I totally agree its really nice when you are out and your kids are polite and you are complimented on their behaviour and it all starts at home..
-
Mel:  Thanks. I know, you've had more than your share of crappy nights! I don't know how you deal with it so often! And I feel especially mean dragging you along to gym now! lol
I know what you girls mean about seeing all those specials at the supermarket - it's so mean!!! My latest weakness is homestyle choc chip cookies from Coles *drool* And after the past few days I've had I have absolutely no restraint, so yesterday I bought 2 packets .
I was so keen to lose the weight and get under 90kg this week, but I honestly don't think it's going to happen. I also think I might be getting sick, so that's not going to help things either. I just have to remind myself that I'm still heaps lighter than I was, so when I'm up to it again and ready to eat well and exercise, I'm still quite close to my first goal of getting under 90kg.
Keep up the great work everyone! :)
-
argh, I've been trying to post for two days....but I'm so tired.....will be back tomorrow.
-
Hi Girls - I'm really struggling with motivation this week, I've been so busy running around seeing people that I haven't had any time to exercise and I've been eating badly.......now AF has arrived today so explains all of those things! Guess I'll have a crap weigh in this week again then, not only do I have AF but it's my birthday on the weekend and I'm not going to refuse cake on my birthday plus I'm going out for lunch with my family and I'm going to eat whatever I want!!! See, I say this but then look in the mirror and wish I was skinny, grrrr. I need to get my head in the right space again girls!
-
Yeah I wish I could find my motivation. I admitted to DH last night that I was pretty much sabotaging my exercise efforts with eating crap food cos I don't really have the motivation to actually lose weight if we are planning another baby. And since its all up in the air or not whether to actually try for another one, in my little brain I'm like - well i'm not going to really try cos then I'll just get fat again anyway.. which is why I never lost weight between Mehkelti and Eden.....
Aghhh I think I have to let go of the fact that we'll have #4.. cos we'll probably never EVER actually do it, so I should just focus on me for a while instead of there being a new person that it can house...
I hate thinking these thoughts, its soooo not conducive to a good diet plan!!
-
Hello ladies,
Yep, I'm still stalking you all!!
Wow @ some of your losses!! My goodness some of you are doing well and this page is soooo down on yourselves!!!
Pull your socks up ladies, you're going great guns!!! And I'm jealous! Goodness, some of you have lost 5-10% of your TOTAL body weights, OMG :o and 10-20cm's off your body's- holy moly!!!!
If your only losing 200g a week, well it's better than gaining that each week right, and losing only 3cm's a week, again is better than nothing! They say the slower the better, the more likely you will keep it off. Won't you be happy if you get to the end of the challenge and see that you've lost 5kg's and 10cm of body fat, isn't that an acheivement???
I know it can be hard when you're tired and it's cold and the easiest thing to reach for is a chocolate bar or packet of chips, and you know what sometimes you need to give in to those cravings. Sometimes it's good for you psyche!! Especially when you've had yearsof bad eating and it's been your comfort for so long. This is an addiction for some people and it's a hard one to break. For others it's just a bad habbit, but still none the less difficult to break. It takes time. If you have had 4 good days out of 7, that's better than 3. If you exercised for 2 hours this week, great, better than all the nothing you did before the challenge.
You can all do this. Try to have faith! Believe in yourselves, or fake it til you make it! That's what I do :D
Big BIG :grouphug: to everyone who isn't feeling it today or this week. It's tough, but you need to have some faith! Slowly does it!!
-
Righto back
Yes Alison we can do it!
Suz, TBH i didn't fin'd it any different when the exclusive feeding stopped - i just had to be more careful of what I put in my mouth. Even now though i notice if i don't eat enough - Nate wants to feed more often cos there isn't much there,
Miss Krys - you guys are my motivation! Glad you're feeling better and what nasty people!!
Mel hope your knee isn't too bad....I'd love love love to eat what i want :( And yes, giving the cake to DS was a step in a good way....I often do that to DD...usually to justify what I've already eaten though lol ETA  babe. I hear ya on that whole train of thought.
Oh Sterla, hope your little guy is improving. I so know how lack of sleep effects your whole life. yes we ummm had some coles choc chip biccies here this morning....they are soo good.
See ya Monday Pam :D
Hi Kell :hello:
AFM haven't been doing too badly this week, been exercising, probably not as hard as I could but everything's moving.
Got a bit frustrated with sizings this week. Several weeks ago I bought a size 12 pair of Dianna Ferarri pants to work my way into - well they are loose. Cool. My new size 12 cossie fits great. Cool. Yesterday went to a billabong sale - the t-shirt i bought to be loose as a 14 is really quite snug (couldn't try it on at the time). Not cool. Then I went to sussan's and found a skirt for $20. Yay had the kids so decided not to try it on but have heaps of Sussan 12 bottoms (that all fit fine) so figured it would be cool. It's tight! Not Cool!! I have no idea what size I am :(
Also i wormed everybody yesterday arvie (I know TMI), but do worming tablets make you bloated? Cos I really am and it's no where near AF.
OK so everyon;es lagging a bit on the motivation, so my question for you all is.....
Where do you find your motivation?
For me;
- you girls here. Hearing your success and your downfalls make me rethink me. Often. Which i think is a good thing.
- Weight Watchers Magazine. I know, daggy, but the success stories and the relatively simple and low fat recipes are great, and make me feel more positive.
- Getting my clothes back. For those that don't know we're in temp accommodation in Darwin for 3 months which ends in a fortnight, when hoepfully we'll get our permanent house in Alice (I did say hopefully - we don't have one yet) and I will have more than 7 items of clothing.
-
Hi girls..
Nice lilias...good thinking and really helpful to put thigns in perspectitve.
Arimeh, good to lose weight even if you do get preg again, I started the challenge after my 21 month old and was'nt planning another baby...I felt good when I started to really lose weight probablly how I got BFP to be truthfull more BD.. And now little miss is here I feel really mottivated to get back to where i was plus the rest..I know i have'nt started yet so I might yet eat my words...but I think this is the first time I really think I can do it right from the start.
Kim...don't be hard on yourself, same brands are even different sizing..pick one up and measure it against anothet one Ibet its different..as far as surf brands they are always small. You are going great and will be in it in no time. Eithre that or take it back!!
Alison :Eat your birthday cake!!!!! my birthday is Saturday hence my Monday start..It willprobabally add heaps to my start weight???Cake and yummy dinner..
Sterla I am high 80kgs :( so we are'nt far off each others weight I hope next week is better for you.
Hi to everyone else I'm looking forward to Monday!!! Yay...
-
Hi lovelies,
I will come back later to do some personals. At the moment, just trying to get some stuff done while DD sleeps.
I have been pretty good this week. I have been so busy though which I think is very helpful in stopping me from snacking. I treated myslef to a glass of champers last night as it was DP and my anniversary and its my bday next week so I am trying to plan how I can enjoy my bday but be healthy at the same time.
DP has been commenting to me about how lose my clothes are getting and that he can see the weight coming off everywhere now. :D Made me so happy as I think its always hard for the people who see you daily to notice change.
BBL tonight.

Okay girls, I am back! have had a busy busy week so gong to catch up with everyone now.
BlackDuckies- I just reached the 80's so looks like you, Sterla and I are all around the same. We can all work our way down together. ALSO a big happy Birthday hun for today! :birthday2: Hope you are having a great day and you do enjoy yourself x
Kim- I am loving your inspirationa nd that is great that you have had a good week. I'll answer your motivation question down the bottom of this post.
Lilias- Thank you for your words of motivation and believing in us all. You are so sweet to opop in. Hope your pregnancy is going well. :)
Arimeh- I used to be my own worst sabotage as well. DP never understood why I was gaining weight when I was exercising so much. I used to play dumb saying I dont know either when really I did know. It was because I would eat packs of chips, biscuits, maccas all when he was not around. Talking to DH about self sabotaging is a big step and hopefully you will gain some extra support now that he is aware. Its better to lose some weight now so that you have more energy if you were to become UTD again. I find it hard to have the energy to look after 1 child. What about having a different goal to losing weight? You could make some changes, I am not sure what your main vices are but maybe something like cutting out all margarine and butter or to eat more veges and fruit so that you are healthier if you were to become UTD. Then losing the weight that comes with making those changes would be a bonus. I have babbeled. Im sorry. Just know we are all here fo ryou to help motivate you x
Alison- Happy birthday as well :birthday2: Hope you enjoy. You know sometimes when you have been really good and just treat yourself one day it can spur you body on to lose weight. Cant remember why but its something about giving the metabolism a kick. Just as long as it is only once in a while.
Sterla- You are so close hun!! You can do it. Positive self talk hun! It is so incredible how much you have lost in such a short time. It has taken me 8mths of off and on to get this far. You are just incredible! :) You are a big inspiration to everyone in here.
Krys- That is crap about the people in your team. I quit team sport for that reason but I do miss it as it was such a good form of exercise. In fact I never thought of it as exercise at all. Coem on out from under that rock hun, we are all here for you and you have done so mcuh for us by starting this. Lets have a really good month! :)
Suz- Just make sure you are drinking extra water as that will help maintain your supply when exercising. I actually put on more weight when I was BF than when I was pregnant and got to my heaviest ever when DD was 6mths old. I think it was being at home so much, not exercising and eating lots of yummy morning teas and late night snacks. You can do this, even with reduced BF!
Okay had to quickly post that in case my computer ate it (it took ages) LOL!
AFM- I have been really good but have some good motivation and a lot of people supporting me.
My motivation:
*I have about 5 pairs of jeans in my wardrobe of varying sizes. I wont buy new pants until I get to my goal weight. I am jsut going to move down the jeans sizes. I have been wearing my BIG jeans (size 18) :hide: with a belt and they have become MEGA loose! So I decided last night that I would get out all my jeans and try them on to see where I was at. Well I almost came on here and posted (but it was 12:30pm after I resettled DD that i had the thought to try on jeans LOL) but I was so excited becuse a size 14 pair are fitting me really easily as well! YAY! I cant wait until these are lose so that I can move down to a size 12 and then eventually I will be happy at a size 10.
*I have photos on my dressing table mirror of what I want to look like. (they are actually photos of me when I was at my slimmest).
*I keep a weight loss diary of my weigh in figures each week and how I am feeling.
*I am going to Fiji at the begining of eptember and do not want to be boiling hot because I am too embarrased by my body to uncover it.
*I have set out goals in this book for the next 12 weeks (until our trip to Fiji) of the little goals I want to achieve.
Ways that I am losing weight:
*I buy healthy snacks that I like to eat, not jsut because they are healthy.
*I dont take any cash to school so I cant buy anything fromt eh school canteen.
*I drink more tea (green and Earl grey). Stops my food cravings at night.
*I keep busy by cleaning and sorting and writing so that I am ot sitting around bored and wanting to eat. (You should see how clean my house is right now)!
*I do drink diet coke (i know its bad) but its my thing. I dont smoke or drink alcohol. i'll deal with the consequences later.
*If I dont feel like "exercising" than I go to the shops and walk around. Moving is the key and it doesnt matter where you do it.
Anyway I think I have made this post gigantic now! So i better go.
Can you tell I am trying tokeep busy right now!
