Woohoo lulliloo and miss dee!! How good is it to feel free and active :)
Lulliloo is it under neath your knee cap? To the outer side? If so I had that. Physio said it is an insertion point for lot of leg muscles. So make sure you are stretching lots before and after. Try some ice after run and heat before bed. But I'm no doctor!!
I didnt follow the program again today. But I did 9km again. Probably 2/3 walking and 1/3 running. Tough to get in a rhythm with the pram. But loving that it's not my cardio that stops me running but my legs too weak.
Here's to another week passing being active. They say 21 days to form a habit so I think we've done that girls!!!
-
Well done to all you ladies who have continued with the program - I wish so much I could've continued too. Anyway, my knees have recovered fairly well and I am back to walking again. New pair of sneakers have helped as well.
Keep it up ladies!
-
I am back!!!!!! Well actually, never posted in this thread, just the other C25K one but I need to get back into it desperately and now that the days are longer I have no excuse!! (I won't run in the dark - big sook!)
I am dropping off the kids later today at my mums and will be heading out - my fitness is ok at the moment even with a big fat slack break in there so will pick it up at W3D1!!
Good luck everyone - all doing so well and Ausgirl, even walking regularly means you are lapping everyone still on the couch hun! :)
-
Welcome back ausgirl! How are you traveling?
Tanstar, how did you go with w3d1?
I've had 2 days off just feeling really fatigued. I joined contours woman's circuit gym on Tuesday on a 6wk christmas plan. Heading back tomorrow. Also have my regular gym orientation of weights and a program being done. Trying to build some muscle tone and loose some weight.

hows everyone going???
are we all still doing it.
i am. today i did day1 week 3. but in saying that i did 2 lots of week 1 and 2 lots of week 2 so i have been doing it for almost 5 weeks now.

i love this running. its so freeing.
-
:hello:
Yep, still doing it! Just finished my first run of week 5 yesterday. It IS freeing! :D
How's everyone else?
-
yep still doing it, i have missed some of this week as I have had the cold. I even tried to go to the gym and run it out in the air con but ended up feeling dizzy
-
Ooh I just got recommended this by my friend! I am going to start this on Monday. Was thinking today but it's going to be really hot and I missed the gym creche. Sigh. How did you guys find the first week?

Just popping in to say hi. I started C25k this week, and want to tell someone I'm doing it so they can hassle me and make me feel guilty if I miss a session. So here I am, due to do W1D3 tomorrow. Doing ok so far, but omg, the houses in this neighbourhood have really boring gardens! I guess it'll take me a while to find a more interesting route. Using the Get Running app, and happy with it so far - usually the accent or tone of the speaker on this kind of thing annoys me after a while, so it's a pleasant surprise to like the voice!
-
I'm starting this week, have downloaded a couple of different mp3s, will go for a run this evening, was going to go this morning but didn't fall asleep until 4am and then work up late for work at 8:30.
-
yay sopdet... welcome to the club..
-
horribly long day at work so run out of question, but I did walk 2kms home at a fast pace. Going to crawl into bed soon as I only slept about 4 hours (between 4am & 8am).
-
I started this on the weekend  me. LOL. I'm not sure how I'll go during the week fitting things in but I really want to do this. I had started before my pregnancy but with pelvis troubles from 9 weeks, I had to stop. Now DH is more interactive with DS I feel I can leave them to amuse themselves for a while so I can have some much needed me time.
Having said that, I should be doing day 2 of week one tonight but think I'll leave it to tomorrow. Is that sending mixed messages??
-
Day one completed this morning and I dont feel to bad, touch wood.
DS had a little cry at creche but other then that loved all the new toys!

Running gear on bed ready to go when I get home from work this afternoon, complete with HR monitor. Lets hope I don't cough up a lung since I'm a bit congested :)
-
Hi everyone. I've restarted this after about a year off when I got to week 3 and carked it.
Yesterday I did week 5 day 1. OMG!! I cannot believe I can run for that long now. My next run is 8min intervals and day 3 scares the daylights out of me!
-
How do you guys juggle the kidlets for this? I did it yesterday at the gym
So cman went to the gym creche like he does when I go to classes but jeez it's hard to do on a treadmill! Other than having to adjust it all the time, I almost stacked it at one stage!

Hi everyone, love seeing ap many people all working to be a happier healthier self. I have thrown the c25k program out the window, but planning on starting it again hopefully next week.
I have been active though doing 3 gym sessions and 3-5run/walks a week. Just doing as much as I can.
I run on the road with DD who is 2 in the pram. She love it and asks to go because she gets a muesli bar and some other snacks.
-
Weird... just did the first run of week 2, and actually found the minute and a half runs easier than the one minute runs. I'm pretty sure it was because less disturbances from 'Get Running's instructions meant I got more distracted by the TED talk I was listening to, so the time flew by quicker.
Wouldn't it be nice if that effect continued as the runs got even longer??? (I'm pretty sure it's not going to keep working that way though.) ;)
-
Wow back to the drawing board (or gp as it maybe). Doing the wk1d2 made me puke and get all shaky :(

I've just been put on antibiotics for bronchitis (that has flared up in the last couple of days - had a cough - this morning went green phlegm on me :( ) So Dr has banned this until I can stop coughing up stuff! He is ok with light walking but nothing to push me :(
-
I run outside. I wait until hubby is home after work and I head off around 5.30pm and incorporate my c25k session into a 12km walk/jog.
I can't join a gym as I'm super rural and it's just too far and I don't have a treadmill, but I do enjoy running outside along the country roads (except when I ingest several thousand flies... but I guess it's all good protein, right?)
I just want to let you all know, you CAN do it. I'm a VERY VERY big girl and I'm going to attempt 8 minute runs tonight if the rain holds off a little... 8 MINS!! OMG!! Don't let one day that hasn't gone so well set you back. Push through it. :)
-
Thanks niadella that's what i needed to hear. Im of to the gym in an hour xx

Hi all,
How you don't mind me jumping in? But do any of you have a c25k iPhone app you could recommend?
-
I quite like my 'Get Running' iphone app, and I think it was free.
-
I don't have an iphone, but I did get a playlist for the c2sk from running into shape dot com.
-
niadalla thats the one i have too. i really like it.
-
Thanks!! I just have to think of the big picture! Not give up!!
Thanks so much :)
-
How is everyone going? I havent been for a run for almost 2 weeks.:( have a cold that went to a chest infection. Hopefully I can get back into it next week, am really missing it. Hope you are all finding time to exercise through the busy and challenging time of year.
-
Yep I am still running, still on week one program tho cos it's still killing me. I had the android app for C25k but I prefer the podcasts

yeah im still going . about to start week 5 on friday.
-
Just started week three this morning... feeling pretty pleased with myself that I could keep up with the running for 3 minutes solid!
-
Week 6 now and still going. Not bad for someone of my size. ready to tackle the 25min non stop run by this time next week.
I'm planning on taking my ipod with me and doing segments of the c25k on my 15km run next weekend. I won't be able to run the entire 15 kms, but I'm hoping to start off being able to do 25-30mins with a 10min walk break... then the same, then maybe slightly less with a longer walking break.... Not sure what exactly I'll do but I'm planning on getting it done in well under 3 hours.
-
Hi ladies,
I am tentavely popping my head in to say I am starting the c25k today....I have been meaning to do it for a long time but have been terribly lazy! Today, I pull my finger out!! I started it a few years ago, after I had DS1 and got to week 3, but I got a sore knee, then life got in the way, and then I fell pg with #3. So I am here again! I am extremely unfit, overweight and just horribly out of shape in general! I am hoping this will help me get into gear to lose weight and get me back!
Wish me luck, lol!
-
Good luck hun!!!! I know I posted a few weeks ago saying I was starting again - FAIL! BUT I did go tonight and am determined to do exercise every day between now and our family trip away in early Jan (other than Xmas but even then will go for a walk!) Tonight I did Week 3 day 1 but I ran through most of my walks!! So happy with myself, felt so good - I walked the 5 mins warm up and cool down and one 3 min walk and one 90 second walk and ran the rest of it! Feeling gooooood!! I did 3.33kms in just under 30 mins with ave pace of 8.15min/km. Funny, I went to yoga last night and there was hardly anyone there and she goes - now is the time people should be going, not stopping because it's so busy, so true I really need it when it's crazy like it is now.
-
Wow, Tan, that's great hun, well done!! I am trying to go every day, at least just for a walk. I nearly died doing the c25k wK1d1, lol! I.AM.SOOOO.UNFIT! I'm thinking I might need to do it over 2 wks, or have a few extra rest days in between or something. I am sore in places I forgot existed, lol. All for a good cause though. I do love the feeling afterwards of feeling like you've accomplished something. I will get there!
-
Hun i was like that when I started and although I haven't been regularly doing much, I have been doing my dvds and my yoga so it has all added up I think! Stick at it, you will be so surprised at what you can do - when I did my first 3 min run I couldn't believe i did it and how good I felt!! Remember, no matter how fast you are going, you are lapping everyone on the couch!! oxox
-
im in! my 30th birthday is in 9 weeks, so a great goal to meet :)
-
Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has done the bridge 2 10kms (the next running program up?).
I completed my 15km fun run mid December and whilst my previous longest continuous run was 20 mins, I managed to run 6.5kms in 55mins (slow... but for me -AWESOME!!). I'm thinking that I need to extend myself now, even though I didn't technically make the 9 weeks.... although I may start again back at the 20min run intervals as I've had a couple of weeks off running.
Hope you're all going well!
-
Right I'm back in :)
I have a hike (approx 8-10kms long each way) later this year, so need to get some weight dropped and fitness levels upped.
I'm currently walking home every day (4.1kms), working at cutting the time I need for that walk.
Have the podcast on my phone to do tonight once it cools down a bit.
