Newbie here too *gingerly steps through the door*!
Alannah is now 7 months old, we have finished breastfeeding, the weather is so much nicer during the day and I have atleast 20kg to drop! Baby steps though. I would like to do blocks of 5kg though.
I have trouble going walking with 3 kids and DH not getting home till about 6pm.
I also have PND and Anxiety so I do need to drop the kgs to help improve my self esteem.
I do have Wii and a copy of Zumba.......I also have resistant bands from my Step into Life days........I have NO excuse!
Does anyone keep a food diary?
Okay, off my butt and off to do the kitchen!

I need to join also. I need to loose 20kilos but am sticking to 10 in the next 5months (I'm a bridesmaid and I want to look nicer then I currently do) plus I want to feel better about myself.
My baby is 4weeks old and I have another 2 older children so it makes it hard to exercise at the moment. I'm fully BF so I need to be careful about my diet/exercise and why I'll stick to the 10kilos this year not a larger amount.
At the moment my goal is just to stop eating all the Easter eggs. The last 2days I have eaten so many thinking I'll just eat them all and there will be none left but Ive given up on that idea now. I'm going to cut out alot of carbs and try fill up with soups, meat and lots of vegies. Part of me feels like I'm pushing myself to hard but this Wedding means alot and I don't want to look back and think how aweful I looked plus I'm known as the one that "lets myself go" as soon as I have a baby. I want to look like a yummy mummy for a change. And I have no wardrobe that fits.
Vixstar I don't keep a food diary. I never have but its a good idea. I love WW but I gave my books to my MIL and am too scared to ask for them back. I know she still uses them. I have lost 30kilos in the past through WW.
Would any one recommend Zumba? I'd like to try it but would hate to pay the money not to use them. Do you need a large dance space as thats something I don't have.

I have a friend who lost prolly over 30kgs on Zumba. She had a copy of it and started doing it at home once a day and then twice a day. Then she started doing classes and is now an instructor with her own Zumba business. She loves it and all this in about 18 months!
She has always said it is fun and even her kids get in on the act and dance in the loungeroom with her!
Now, I should start doing it having just said all that. lmao
Food diaries are quite easy and interestingly enough, in the past when I have used them, I have found myself being brutally honest!
This year is my 20 yr school reunion. Nothing has been organised as yet....but I was a size 8 20 yrs ago! I am now a 14 - 16. :(

I'm currently using the THREAT of a food diary. It works wonders for me. If I don't eat well enough, then I have to record my food & track my calories (which I hate doing & don't feel I have time for). So far the mere thought of it is enough to make me avoid chocolate & eat well!
I'm also intrigued by zumba... last time I was fit, it didn't even exist (as far as I was aware anyway!)... was toying with getting it for wii, but when I looked at some video previews, it look just like dancing to me? (not to diss dancing... but I already have some dance-type games). Vixstar - would love to hear what you think of it.
Mildez - I'm BF too, but my bub (like Vixstar's precious bundle) is a little older. Plus I'm lucky in that my supply seems to be very robust, so I haven't had to worry too much re my diet impacting anything (apart from trying to eat healthily of course!).

Today is the day. I don't know how I'll resist the chocolate. All I'm doing to start with is reducing carbs and snacks and increasing exercise and water. I'm going to make a vegie soup for snacks if I'm super hungry. Its a low point WW meal. And look into Zumba more. Its on sale at the moment but don't know if its worth the $99.

Mildez - How did your first two days go? I reckon sometimes the first few days are the hardest, when you still miss all those naughty foods, but once you're through that and start to see some losses, it always helps.

Hi Girls,
I am into my second week of making sure that everything I eat is low fat & healthy (i am not counting calories etc), and I lost 3.5kg the first week, and that was with a few easter slip ups, and only one walk (although it was a 8k walk). I am mostly eating cereal with some added almond flakes and skim milk, or porridge and flaked almonds for brekky, a massive baked chicken & salad wrap for lunch, and some kind of low fat meal for dinner that the whole family will eat. I have been having peaches and low fat custard as a dessert.
I am entering a fundraising walk next year that is over 70km, so I am trying to build up my endurance now :)
I have about 35+kg to lose though...small steps!

well d one on your weight loss

Belfie thanks for asking. I fell of the wagon. I have to jump straight back on. I know when I start and get into it it becomes quite easy. With the chocolate and then a party this weekend I didn't both. I also just saw a picture and I look disgusting. Why is it so hard?
Then to make things worse its raining, my baby wont stop crying unless she is on the boob so I can't get on the wii fit and I have 40cents to my name and I can't afford healthy food. I actually can't afford any food at all. DH has been doing the shopping and he budgets well but the food is not healthy and we can't afford the healthy options. Like the meal tonight is meatpies and vegies. If I only eat vege it will be carrots and a small piece of corn which is just not enough for a BF mummy or anyone for that matter. We have no fruit and only potato, carrots and corn for vegies. I wish the baby bonus would come throughbut that wont last. I know it sounds like I am making excuses and I know I could BF on the wii if I was desperate but gee I need someone to come into myhouse and help me start :crying: Im obese and I don't like it :crying: I've struggled with my weight since falling pregnant with my first but have still managed to loose weight easily when I put my mind to it and keep my BMI below 25. Now getting below 30 seems impossible with my current financial situation.

Oh Mildez!!! Big hugs xxxxx
Do you have any eggs??? If you grate some potato, carrots and any other veggies you have, squeeze out all the moisture and then mix an egg or two through, you could make potato cakes and have them with some corn?? That's what we're having tonight! All you do is take spoonfuls of the mixture and fry them i a pan or on the bbq. It's one of our standby meals when we have nothing left! I think we're having potato, zucchini and carrot LOL.

Hi everyone!
DD2 is 2 wks old today - and I've got a few kg's left over to lose! Gotta tread lightly to start as I had a c/section....but can I join in? ;)
-
I'm joining in here too...ideally, 30kg to go, such a huge number to me! But at the moment, I will take it slow and go in 5kg lots, so 5kg to go!! 30kgs is absolutely daunting and I just can't grasp it, so I figured if I do it in little chunks, my brain might process it a bit better, lol. One can only hope!
First goal is to get below 90kgs, which is about 2kg. I will go for walks and will be setting up our wii fit so I can just pull it out to use when I get a chance if I can't go for a walk. Also need to cut out butter and sugar. I have cut out most things like chocolate, chips, cakes and stuff. We have none in the house and I won't go out to buy any unless I plan it. But at home, it's eating butter and sugary foods like cerial, cerial bars, sugar in coffee/tea...I need to have fruit and veggies instead! And also cooking healthy meals in a healthy way! I know alot of strategies, I just need to incorporate them. I so need to do this!
