hey sammiejane,
i'm the same re gym - i simply can't afford it quite apart from the fact i don't have time lol. so yep, i go for walks with bub in the pram (have a mountain buggy so is *awesome* for walking hills), other than that i go to a weekly 45 min pilates class that is run locally on a saturday morning ($12 per class with concession, so manageable), i have a pilates book i bought at an op shop for $5 years ago and never looked in til this year, i bought a skipping rope from the heart foundation ($6.50) and my intervals mp3 (which i'm sure would be easy to make your own - fast paced music with no lyrics, voice saying "start...15 seconds down...half way...15 seconds to go...aaaand stop" then about 50 seconds of just music and then "congratulations you have just completed round X of 6 rounds, starting again in 3...2...1...go" etc).
so all of those things essentially i can do in a small space. the skipping i do just outside the kitchen door, the intervals i push back the coffee table in the living room and do it there when bub is asleep and the pilates i tend to actually do (very quietly) on the floor in his room after he goes to bed as is warm in there and there is nothing worse than trying to do pilates in the cold lol. i don't have a pilates mat and his room is the only one in the house with underlay and carpet.
oh and (if you're BF) please drink some milk too to keep your calcium, cos you don't want to end up with osteoporosis.. :) hope that helps hun!
welcome miss K and hey tinsel - don't worry about what is past hun, we're looking to the future now!
tellytubby - i actually didn't get time to do any baking yesterday so will have to do it today or tomorrow as spent all time trying to get through a particularly dry reading on the parthenon as global cultural heritage lol... still have about 15 pages to go... gah!
I am glad I am not the only diet coke fan. I think I got stuck on it in the days Diet Coke was 0 points in WW.
Miss K that is interesting about the walking. I hope its not the case for me also as walking is one of the only things I can do effectively. I was another daily weigher. I needed to kow it was going down and if I had a slight gain I would work extra hard. Now I am older I don't care as much (hence why I am so much bigger now)
Oooo I love the skipping rope suggestion. Thats something I can do at home. Of to buy one today if I can get a big enough one.
Livvy thanks for the tip of measuring your waist. I did mine this morning above my belly button and it was 90cm. Alot smaller then the 97 it was yesterday around the belly button. My thigh was 66 and arm 32. I didn't do my bust as I'm BF and little miss sucked me dry all night so I imagine it would be smaller then it really is and every time I measure its going to give me something different depending on how full/empty the old jugs are.
Leesa how can I join your fat chic slim? Do I just like your page?
SJ welcome back.
TT I did speak to DH about it but he clearly didn't give to hoots as yesterday I packed my healthy lunch (we were going to our property out of town which we do every SUn) as he buys hot chips/scollops and knowing I couldn't eat them and prepared for that (after he goes on about no one else missing out) he fed my food to DD because mummy's food looks better then her's. So not impressed but thats the way it is. I know I'll never get his support on this. His a good bloke in many ways but supporting me is not one of his good points. Actually he sucks. But never mind. I'll do it on my own.
Mildez - Yup, all you need to do is 'like' the page hun. As for your DH I'd not be impressed at him sabotaging your effort to eat healthy. My DH has a sweet tooth and he used to offer me ice cream, chocolate - you name it. And the more he offered it (knowing that I was in the process of losing weight) the more is pi$$ed me off; which caused me to dig my heels in and become stubborn on it. In fact, then, the more he pushed me to try and eat badly ('oh, come on - what is 1 little chocolate going to do' he'd say) the more I found it easier to reject the bad food. And that carried over into social functions where there would be the option for cake or fruit salad for dessert - I'd feel his eyes on me and just to tick him off I'd go for the fruit salad no matter how much I salivated over the cake lol! Hang in there, I know there is an even sexier Mumma in you dying to come out - it's only a matter of time!
SJ - Yup, I'm reading an excuse there hun - and yep I've heard it before from others too. Lol, 8.30pm is generally when I start my exercise too - and being so so cold at night (and when DH is on afternoon shift) I have no option to exercise BUT to do it inside. So I have exercise DVD's which I manage to get a big sweat up in a space of 1.5 mtrs x 3 mtrs. I have to change direction a bit more than they do in the DVD lol, but I still sweat and that's all that counts. This week though DH is on arvo shift so I'll exercise, um, when he wakes up, so soon I'm hoping(before breakfast). This way I'll be burning more fat cells. If DD2 is in an ok mood this evening I'll also do some more exercise then too (maybe just a quick 30 min session).
TT - Lol, you're not stalker-ish at all. But you have reminded me to add a new entry to my blog - thank you :). I think kinda similar things during my workouts too (not about myself though - that'd be weird lol). During an RPM session I'd think 'hang on, I'm not working as hard as I could - what kind of results do I want? Spectacular or just ok'? Then I'd turn up the resistance dial and work that little bit harder. In that case there are a few things you should know about me 1) While trying to lose weight, I very, very, VERY rarely give in to eat a 'treat' no matter how badly I might feel like it; 2) If there is an option to do incidental exercise (like walk to the shops instead of drive or take stairs over the lift) I'll do it - lol I even play chasy in the house with the kids lol!
Belfie - Hun, being short is the reason why it takes us longer to lose that off the waist area. Just accept that - try not to get too hung up on it? You have gone so far and so friggin brilliantly with your weight loss thus far, the last place fat will come off of is the waist / belly area (generally). And yep, I think you're ready to go scientific on the fitness now - by far! In fact I think you jinxed my HR monitor - that battery indicator came up last night - first time ever lol. I hope it gets me thru this mornings workout.
Tinsel - great hun, I'm glad you're with me on FCS too.
Hi ladies, it's time I join in here.
Quick history- I put on 20kgs during my pregnancy with DS. Miraculously I lost 15kg in the firat 6 weeks PP. I think I can thank the stress I was under at the time for that. I'm currently sitting at around 72kg and want to get back to 55kg. So 20ish still to lose. I was slim and trim once, and have slowly piled the weight on over the last decade or so.
Looking forward to getting to know you all as we become the yummy mummies we want to be!
I weighed in this morning and I'm 1kg heavier than I thought I was :( sadness!
So I'm starting at 75.2kg
Waist (thinnest part) 84cm
Waist (at belly button) 97cm
Thigh 61cm
Bum (or widest part around there) 103cm
I'm starting my Wii Active 30 day challenge again when DD2 has her nap soon and I'll continue with the Michelle Bridges crunches, tricep dips, push ups, stretches etc
Plus I need to drink more water - I am a shocker at home, but I find if I have a glass near me I will drink it.
Tinsel, What a downer, weighing in 1kg heavier. the 30 day challenge sounds like an awesome idea! I'd love a Wii, got a kinect, and although it rocks, our house is too small for it, so need to re-arrange furniture just to play the bloody thing. Hope you see some results soon!
forshelby, why hello stranger ;) Welcome to the group, and well done on your 15kg loss, awesomeness! Good luck with the 20ish you have left. My dream is to be 72kg, lol!
Leesa, thanks for the tips! We actually got a dog a couple of months ago, and am finding I am walking places more and more, just to get her out of the house. DH takes her for a jog every morning, but she has soo much energy, even a walk to the corner store she thinks is awesome. I'm actually finding I'm saving money because of it too! ha! Rather than driving to woolies and getting this, that and then some, I'm JUST getting bread/milk.
Mildez - YES! That is where my addiction originated from too! Good old ww! 0 points for diet softdrinks. Love my DC! You do so well to pack yourself a healthy lunch box while he mungs out on potato scallops! Men can be such a PITA sometimes, they really dont get it. My DH is a bit the same, will munch on some apple crumble and custard while I eat a strawberry...... -.-
Livvy - I love the skipping idea too! Might have to get one from my old work, they had hundreds! Der, should have thought of it earlier. You're very motivated! Have you noticed any difference in your fitness levels?
Belfie - thanks for the link, I'll have a look once i finish up on BB.
SammieJane - Thanks for the love. I'm starting to come out the other side now.. Finding myself obsessing a little of this healthy eating. I guess its keeping my mind busy, so I'm not stopping and thinking of what should have been :( Yes, I have been in this group for years, seriously! But doesn't mean i've been actively posting for years! I also do the "unsubscribe", lol. If i can't see it it doesn't exist! ha! Good luck! And stay on track this time! You can do it, WE can do it!
AFM - I'm making chicken casserole for dinner. Not the healthiest, as I"m using drumsticks as opposed to breast. But today is weigh in day, so I'm happy to lash out slightly (Hell, I could do ALOT worse than chicken casserole!). My loss this week was 3.4kg! Bloody stoked with that! Bring on week 2!
Chicken casserole is no longer happening. Dh just got 4 mudcrabs! Chili crab! Mmm! Please tell me crab isn't so bad?
Leesa I liked your page. Looking forward to looking around and seeing you motivate me.
Welcome Forshelby.
TT it didn't help packing my lunch as DH fed it to our 4yr old so I ate the chips. I was so angry at him as I told him don't let her eat it (I was down the paddock feeding cows at the time) I packed her snacks knowing she would ask for mum's lunch and sure enough as soon as I left on the bike she was tucking into it. Going to have to take a backpack now and keep it on me at all times.
I brought a skipping rope today. Look like the biggest tool trying to use it. Its all scrunched up from been in the packet so it needs straightening out and I can only do 2 jumps without stuffing it up. I'm so looking forward to improving my fitness. It is dreadful.
Forgot to mention it appears my baby is lactose intolerant so I have to go on a dairy free diet. OMG. This might help cutting out icecream and cheese and cream (bye bye potato bake) but OMG I have no idea what to do and where to start. Yogurt is also out the wondow. Boohoo.
quickly - i bought a pair of jeans... and they look hawt hawt HAWT! And 2 new bras on special at target. Down a size (or two) yaaaaaah. Amazing how much better the girls look in a bra that fits... poor lassies need all the help they can get to fight that pesky gravity!
Hi all. Just wondering if i can join in here. Im currently on my weight loss journey and feel like i need a bit of support. I am about 3kg of my healthy BMI but i would like to lose at least 10 maybe a bit more but my aim at the moment is 10kg. My main issue is eating i suspect. Since iv stopped bf I am still in the bf mind frame and i suspect my portion sizes are much too big and i do like to treat myself, probably a bit too much! I have started on ww points today. I find calorie counting much too difficult and this seems a bit easier so although i havent joined ww im going to do the points to work on my portion sizes and get into a better eating mindframe. I have been running/walking and doing exercise dvd's but the last couple weeks have been horrendous with illness in our house so i have fallen off the wagon big time and hope to get back on.
Im looking forward to getting to know you all and joining in your weight loss journeys. I find losing weight very difficult. I have always been the person who could eat anything and do nothing and not put on weight but since having the kids things have changed but it seems my mind hasnt changed along with it.
As Gok Wan would say "Let those puppies come out to play"!!!! YAY!!! AND down a size or two in jeans Belfie - you ROCK hun! I have no boobs at all lol, so I'm jealous!
TT - 3.4kgs?!?!?! You absolutely are on track, what a great kick start. Keep going with some strong momentum and don't use the big loss as an excuse to back off a bit in the next few days. You gotta keep it going.
Mildez - thanks for liking FCS! Great to have you on board! Post on the wall as much as you like. If you remember Mothergoose? She is my other 'admin' on the page. I'm pretty peeved at your healthy food being eaten, sounds a bit sneaky on your DH's part TBH. Sorry to say. BUT I'm so glad you're taking a back pack now hun! Great thinking! Yup, this dairy free could be a god send to keep you away from those extra 'sweet' calories. Did they recommend to take a calcium tablet for you?
AFM - Down to 60.2kgs (after the morning RPM session) - so I reckon I could be under 60kgs in the morning...Pretty happy that I fit back into a small size 8 jumper I bought last season :D.
Leesa yes they definately recommended I take calcium. They stressed that big time. Wanted me to get that before cutting out dairy. Stupid me brought stuff in the shop only 10mins after and didn't buy any. Well done on getting into the smaller size 8. I bet you look hot. I can't wait to get my fat bump out of a size 16. I haven't taken my backpack to the farm yet. But everytime I ever go with DH I will be taking it from now on.
Exercise I only went for a 5min walk and took all the kids. J came in the ergo but she doesn't fit to good yet (14week now and I dont have the infant insert) So I came home mowed the lawn for a moment, did a tiny bit of skipping and then went and chopped some wood for 10mins. OMG that is hard. Will get on the wii tonight.
Beautitude I was the same never needing to worry about my weight until I got pregnant. I gained 40kilos in 35weeks and lost it all but it took 2years. I was lucky enough to keep it off until I got pregnant again and ever since its been a huge struggle. I'm not as active as I was and I cook so much for the family (who are skinny but me) maybe because I taste test everything, eat my serve and the left overs. Goodluck. I too am over my idea BMI by 4kilos. I want to loose alot more then that but even to be in a healthy BMI is a start for me.
belfie woohoo on the new bras and jeans and looking hot. I'm jealous. Thats my fault from been a slob. Must be a lovely feeling to see your rewards.
wow....i disappear for a week and the place comes to life :) welcome all...i will have to sit down and read all these posts but have only go a quick minute now....put off last weeks weigh in casue i thought id get a bad result....
another cm lost on waist...total 3cms lost. and a 1kg gain from last week but still lost 2 kgs from the begining. need more focus!!
welcome forshelby and beutitude! welcome back beckoes lol!
yay belfie for gorgeous new clothes! i can't wait to get to where you are (namely able to justify new clothes...)
tellytubby - well done you! woah! 3.4kg in a *week*! that is truly amazing! am not really the most motivated person in the world, it has taken me rather a long time to get here, in that i had not weighed myself since some time in 2010 before beginning this quest for thinner-ness. so you know... it was after a particularly glutinous dinner on a sunday night a little over 3 weeks ago that i happened to stand on the scales and it said 85kg, possibly a little more. i can tell you i only just managed not to cry myself to sleep that night. from that point i decided to *do* something about it, so here i am :D
mildez - i reckon you'll find going dairy free the best thing since [celery... sliced bread not so good lol] for weight loss. just think: no butter, cows milk, cream, ice cream, yoghurt, cheese, baking, some breads (bread has no need for milk in it yet you'd be surprised how many store bought loaves have it in...), white sauces etc! i shun all dairy with only the rare exception of a yoghurt or some cottage cheese if i have no other protein options, and i can tell you it's great! frankly i've always been able to loose a bit of weight just by having no butter on my toast, makes a massive difference!
well i haven't weighed in in about a week so will do it in the next few days, but am hoping to be heading towards 78kg... fingers crossed! i figure sleep deprivation and weight loss don't exactly go hand in hand so am not worried *too* much if my progress is slow, just so long as it is steady. my bub is still very much a booby baby and is not a great sleeper (never has been) so waking up 4 times in the night to swap sides for next little suck is considered a good night for us...
anyway i think i can hear him waking up from his nap, so a bientot!
oh and tellytubby, it does totally get easier with the baking i (finally) made a big batch of gingernuts today as the cupboard has been bare since the weekend and i only had a mild urge to lick the spoon right at the end - not hard to fight at all! so was in no way the trauma that the first time baking whilst being vowed against it was, was really fine to bake and not nibble, not even a teeny bit! so aim for 21 days, am certain there is a turning point there!
No butter and bread thats just depressing. I'll have to go do some research on what I can't have. Last night we had a pasta dish with chicken and my serve had no cheese in it. I have not had any yogurt (I eat the no fat one daily) and my breakfast this morning was an apple. Ive been having a drip of skim in my tea but I guess I'll have to go to Soy. The thought of Soy makes me want to gag. Oh well thats one way to loose weight.
gah! i hate doing exercise where other people can see, so tend to do it when the house is empty or i can be quiet and pretend i'm not... otherwise is all my jellywobbles jiggling up and down and was half way through my interval routine (is horrible day out there) when someone came home so had to stop! damn my self consciousness... well. maybe later will start over. although leesa i took a heart rate both yesterday when was walking to uni (between 50 and 60% when on the flat and just under 90% when going up the death-hills (4 very steep and massive hills, you guys might call them mountains given i've encountered australians who give me directions involving "up that hill" and am looking around thinking "what hill? i see no hill" and they look at me as though am an imbecile and point at something that i classed as entirely flat and say "*that* hill"), doing my intervals it's at about 77%. is that okay? is basically what i would like to ask lol! thanks hun!
