Aimz, when I had a gym membership, I used to love the pump classes, and the combat too. I loved the yoga and pilates and classes like that too, but I would usually do a pump or combat class first and then the others after. I've never done it, but I think zumba would be fun too. I couldn't stand them, but the cycling classes (like RPM spin classes) were really challenging and effective! I would always end up with sore muscles after those!
-
I instruct most of those classes, aimz, and hands down I'm an attack and rpm girl all the way :D
-
Well done on the losses and not to worry on the small gains.
MrsNerdberger - I had to have a giggle about you rolling down the hill but you will get back on the wagon. Good that DH is motivated too.
Hi Aimz.
Sterla - woohoo!
ladybird - the lunges look hard and actually I do these in my Wii Active but I have dodgy knees so I don't go all the way down. It's really good watching your videos because you have excellent tips on how to do them properly.
I weighed in this morning and I didn't see 75 - woohoo! I'm at 74.5kg which isn't too bad considering last week was a write off with the sickies in the house but I really need to step it up.
-
well done on the loss tinsel!!!
we can do it!!!
hows everyone going today?
I've done 30 mins on the cross trainer this morning so I'm feeling good for the day.
dh won't be home tonight so dinner is just for me and the kids. usually on days like this i go through the red rooster drive through so i can just grab us something on the way home without getting the kids out of the car. so lazy!!!!! and embarrassing...
any ideas on healthy options i could do for dinner tonight?
also, another q- because I've been exercising at 7/7.30am i just don't feel like breakfast at all. i can't stomach it straight after exercise- but I've got somewhere i have to be at 9.30. is there anything i could take along for breakfast iykwim?
-
Tinsel - thanks for the feedback Hun! I really appreciate it - but do let me know where I can improve too ok? As for your dodgy knee, I'd be inclined to not do lunges as they place alot of force on the knee. Instead, opt for squats which keep the weight distributed evenly through both knees = happier knees :).
Ginger - my option would be fish fillets (the frozen ones) and plenty of steamed veggies. We usually have sweet potato (lower in carbs than white / brushed potatoes), carrots, peas or beans, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussel sprouts (though I haven't managed to get the kids to eat one yet lol). Yay and good on ya for already doing 30 mins on the x trainer. As for breakfast question - I'd opt for a body wise museli bar (lowest in cals I can find) and some water to fill me up, both can be consumed with no preparation and stored in a decent sized hand bag!
MNB - I admit, I had a little giggle too about rolling down the hill. Today is a fresh day, a new start. Get those gorgeous kids of yours together and go for a lovely walk to the park, or get on that Wii :-)
-
Awesome work Ginger! Could you take a banana or some other fruit? Healthy dinner ideas - mmmmm salmon/steak/chicken with vegetables? Chicken noodle soup (my winter fav!) pumpkin soup? veggie soup? HOme made pizzas?
I am feeling crapola, I have red dry eyes (I hate wearing contacts sometimes) something that feels like a sty swollen on one eye, and just generally feeling run down, trick today will be not seeking comfort food and trying to get some exercise in - off for Izzy's 4 yr old health check and shopping before kinder drop off. Have a great Tuesday all!
-
Tan - dh gets the same sore eyes from wearing contacts, do you alternate and wear glasses some days by any chance that what he was told to do to help the eyes breathe.
I'm sorry your feeling crappy today, do u take any supplements Hun? I'll put this question to everyone actually.
Who consumes health supplements on a daily basis?
I have garlic (only thru winter months), a women's formula (like a vitamin b tablet) vitamin, glucoscamine (to keep my joints healthy) and two fish oils (because dh tells me too) each day.
-
I haven't been doing it enough hun so I think I will wear my glasses for a few days without wearing contacts at all. I take ecchinacea if I feel a cold coming on, Swisse womens multi most days (thanks for the reminder, I haven't been taking it regularly recently so that could be it.) I also take a stress and anxiety chinese remedy if I am feeling antsy.
-
thanks for the tips ladies
I've not heard of those body wise bars before. i'll have to look for them in the supermarket
love bananas too but so exxy!!!

Hi everyone!! Still feeling sick :(.. but apparently thats a good thing coz the scales said 81.4!!!!! Thats like a kg lost overnight!!! Not sure if my scales are right or what, but i am taking it!!! I did manage half an hour on the bike yesterday and my calorie take has been smaller- DH brought home pizza for dinner again last night and was shocked when i said i didnt want it!! lol So i had nothing for dinner, but didnt really bother me coz i didnt feel like much! Still drinking plenty of water, and i have dropped my meds down again so hopefully that helps me again this week!!! :-)

Selfish post from me again - sorry!
Started slipping off the wagon over the weekend, but managed to stay on. I ate far too much cob loaf dip and a few other naughty things, and I didn't exercise - but it wasn't too bad really. Nothing like before. I've been pretty good since though - have been eating okay, and got on the bike tonight. I have been struggling with motivation, but I think that is mainly due to having a few crappy days and nights with DD - screaming babies are quite draining. I'm keeping on keeping on though. Pram should get here this week, so I have that to look forward to. It will be so nice to get out walking again!
Hi to everyone - even though I don't post much I'm reading and cheering you all on :D.
-
Ok I'm baaaack. Finally woke up this morning feeling a little more human. I've put the chocolate & chai latte's (my other vice) in a box with a note on top asking if I'm at my goal weight yet :D. And then I stashed the box in the laundry. I hope to reach my goal by the 4th of Sep (DH's birthday) - which given my weight loss is slowing, means I really need to pull my thumb out. I realised that i'd set out my first lot of goals & rewards (which I've reached... but mostly didn't get around to the rewards) but this extra few kg's, I didn't set myself a proper reward.
So I'm in the zone. Time to get serious and do this. Today I have some roast pumpkin soup plus some asian coleslaw for lunch. I've just had a muesli bar with my cuppa, and this arvo if I get peckish I'll have some fruit or yoghurt. And hoping to knock off an hour of exercise, just wish the weather would improve!! Otherwise it'll be an hour on the bike tonight...
Happy healthiness everyone!
P.S. I let myself have 1 diet coke now my month of "none" was up... and have managed not to keep having it, quite happy about that. I want to just have it as my social drink IYKWIM. Going well so far yay. Geesh if I can control my DC AND reach my goal weight I might be the perfect human being hahahahaha
-
Belfie - You are super inspiration hun!! So motivated and so many great ideas ( I love the note idea!)!! Yay for your DC challenge too - I had some salmon the other day for lunch and I thought a bone was stuck in my throat so guess what I reached for to skull and get it out?!! Didn't even last one day! Although I had none yesterday (had red wine instead -that doesn't count does it?) and won't have any today.
I am home from work today - off to the Dr about this eye, I think it is a stye but man it's sore and annoying. Back later for more personals chicks!
-
Aaaw thanks Tan. Well I found myself feeling ridiculously hungry at 11.30am whilst out at the shops, and the kids were eating wheat stuff that I can't have... so that saved me. Why is it that as soon as you make a resolution to eat better, you feel insanely hungry? Anyway, my roasted garlic & pumpkin soup is cooking, the salad is ready and I'm feeling determined. I think my exercise is going to have to be tonight as i'm ravenous now but have to get the LO up for an appt in an hour so no exercise time during nap time sadly. As for no DC yesterday well good on you! And I've had MANY stop-start attempts in the past. It was only when I finally read it could make my waist fatter that I actually really stuck to it - first time ever lol! And as for red wine, it doesn't have phenylanalalalalalalaalamine (yeah I can never remember how to spell that), so from that point of view, it's all good.
Also when I wrote out my rewards, I was quite specific about the types of things I'm going to buy (some tops) and where I'll go shopping for them. I'm even going to give myself a day off (kid-free) to go shopping. I think that will help, so tangible. Tangible is good.

Belfie: What a great idea with the note! You're so close to your goal weight now - that's so exciting!!! Definitely an inspiration :D. Have you found your thermomix a help or hindrance with your weight loss goals? I was worried it might be a bad thing with so much yummy food being so easy to make - but instead I've found it really helpful in getting me to eat healthier.
Tanstar: Ouch - sounds painful! Hope the doctor can help you out!
I've got a few challenging days to get through. My family are over tonight and I just know they'll bring naughty food with them! Then tomorrow is my little sister's birthday so we are going out for tea (Indian) followed by cake. I think my plan of attack is just to not go overboard - I'll eat what's there, but try not to go back for seconds.
It also means I won't really have time to get on the bike. That's okay though - just as long as I get back to it Friday.
Oh, and we had part of our new pram delivered today! Not the actual pram, just the second seat attachment. The actual pram should be here tomorrow. By the look of the forecast I should be able to get out for a walk Friday or Saturday! I'm excited! I really miss walking.
-
Belfie great to hear you're feeling better. I have done the notes thing too. I put a note on my sugar canister because I kept on putting sugar in my tea and coffee. I still put half a tsp, but better than a heaped teaspoon! I have also written down some quotes and stuff and stuck them around the house to help me stay motivated. I need to write out some easy to fulfill goals and rewards too. At the moment I'm so focused on trying to just stay the course that rewards are so not on my radar (though I know they should be). I do have loose goals though nothing is written down.
Tan, hope your eye feels better, sty's suck! I think I'm coming down with DS1's conjunctivitis...yuck! I thought we were rid of it and was so proud I had managed to keep it away from everyone else!
Sterla, maybe have some salad or soup or something else healthy, but small before you go out, that way you won't be too tempted to go back for seconds because you won't be starving.
AFM, I'm doing ok. Last night I ate too much I had some yogurt (full fat- and veeerrryyyyy delicious!) and had some wafer bickies too which I shouldn't have had, but today I have gotten rid of them (gave them to the kids to take to day care to share!) But other than that all is going well. I will be doing some wii fit soon, it's all set up and ready to go! Should go and do it now while my tiniest monkey sleeps....
-
Great idea 3LM - thanks :D.

im struggling a bit today. its just so cold and wet and i want to pig out on comfort food!!!!
