MFP = My Fitness Pal - same as Calorie King but I find it easier to use!
The scanner is on the app that I have, when you go to add a food, next to where you would normally type "healthy delicious something or other with minimal calories" there is a little scanner button you press and a camera comes up and you hover it over and it detects it! Way cool but I do have an iphone - if you have an android and can find the MFP app it should work???
-
For days I've been telling myself I would do a big, proper post here - and every day time gets away from me!
Bar code scanner? Ooh, I might have to have a look for that! :D
Leesa: I checked out your weight loss photos on FB - such an inspiration! You look absolutely fabulous :).
Beckoes: Sounds like everything is going really well with you! I'm the same as you - have allowed myself little things here and there, but I'm not kicking myself over it. Just get on with it - enjoyed a small dark chocolate heart yesterday. It's better than the entire blocks of chocolate I was consuming! Hope you get your scales soon - I love having electric ones, makes it so much easier to read.
Tanstar: I know right! I can't keep up with this thread either and I am at home! Doing housework all day long surely has to count! I hope so!
Mildez: Oh yuck, that doesn't sound nice. Hope you're feeling better soon!
3LM:  Sounds like a very tough night! Hope you have a better one tonight! Sleep deprivation is awful (DS was a terrible sleeper until about 20 months) - you're doing such a great job even contemplating weight loss running on so little sleep! Hope your day has improved.
Livvy: Awesome about the jeans!!! I can't wait till jeans look good on me again!
SJ: I always find it hardest not to snack at night time after the kids are in bed. That was always my and DH's chill out time in front of the TV. I am trying my best to replace that with a bike ride in front of the TV!
Belfie: Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow!
Hi to everyone else! I know I've missed heaps of people - I only looked back at posts from today.
Congrats to all those girls who have had losses . Well done! I am having my first weigh in tomorrow morning - I have no idea how I'll go - I'm just hoping to see some kind of result. I've been doing really well actually, which I'm kind of surprised about. I have been on the bike 4 times over the past week (planning on another ride tonight). Am trying to add a little to my time each time. I did 16 minutes last night. Eating well has been surprisingly easy, and I think the arrival of my thermomix is a big part of it. It's so easy to prepare everything that I haven't been tempted with takeaway. I even made myself a broccoli salad for lunch the other day! I have eaten a few little naughty things, but nothing like what I was. So, with being this good I'm really hoping the scales/tape measure reflect it! I'm also hanging out for my new pram to arrive so I can go out walking!
I'll be back tomorrow with (hopefully) good losses!
-
Will be back later for persies just wanted to say woohoo. I brought a york challenger 850 exercise bike at the local 2nd hand shop for $77 woohoo. It seems good (although hard) I did 2mins on it and burnt 25cals hehe. Its small so atleast it fits nicely in the family room and hopefully will encourage me to use it regularly. FX bub is quiet around then. My aim is to try do it with home and away. Its got the inbuilt pulse thing in it, tells you how many cals etc and a whole pile of other stuff I don't know what its about.
Sterla hope you have a nice loss tomorrow. Yeah on the thermomix. Going to have to look into what one is lol. Ive heard people raving on about them but I don't know exactly what they do.
-
Note to self. Don't buy peppermint chocolate. It appears to be my kryptonitr.
Cycling cycling. I did the crime now I gotta do the time. 38 mins to go.
Gawd my Friday nights are exciting lol.
-
Belfie ouch. How do you manage to do 38+ mins on the bike? I only got mine today but 15mins was tough tough on me. No chance of doing the 30mins I planned. It was mostly on the easy setting too. Could hardly walk when I got off and I had pins and needles in my crutch lol
-
I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL. Tired and lazy and it's my b'day tomorrow so I didn't want to cook out of principle - so what did I have? Red Rooster FFS. So cross with myself. Went for a 40 mins walk today - did 3 lots of Leesa's lunges and just did 30 mins of Zumba but still so cross. Tomorrow will be another toughie - out for dinner and drinks for my bday - argghhhhh. Off to sulk at myself.
-
Aww girls, hugs. Forgive yourselves your slip ups. Seriously life isn't worth worrying about the little slip ups we have. You can get back to it, just don't stop trying. That is what keeps me trying. I fall off the wagon, I get back on. Even if it's been 2 days, 4 weeks, 3mths, whatever. I will keep trying until it sticks permanently. Until I have formed new, healthy habbits. And having some chocolate or cake occaisionally, even every day for a week, will be ok. Just get back to it when your head is back in the right place agian. Figure out what is wrong, why you slipped, and fix it if you can. Tan you said you're tired. Being tired makes me want junk food too. I am beyond tired today, but because I am aware of it and planned for it and was on the ball with it today, I have survived. I have been doing really well comsidering. Now I REALLY want to just EAT. Plus AF is here and it's totally not helping me feel any better. But I won't eat. I'm going to have a hot cup of tea, a hot bath and read my mag I have had for over a week and not taken the time for myself to look at. I will challenge those thoughts of GIMMECHOCOLATENOW! And get to tomorrow when it will likely all happen again, until there will be one day I don't think GIMMECHOCOLATENOW. I hope that day comes soon though...:p
-
Can I get a... HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cos I just frickin' BLASTED it. And I am so pumped. I did 68 mins on the bike, 33.4km... FIVE HUNDRED CALORIES! Plus I'd already done 100cal of EA active earlier today. Biggest day ever.
Sorry Mildez, I know that will do your head in. But remember hun, this is me who 4 months ago could only aim for 10-15 mins walking or 5 mins on the bike a DAY! And now look at me - if you'd told me I'd be here, I would not have believed you. It is amazing how quickly your fitness improves. Build it up slow & steady, you'll get there.
It's funny, i did a longish cycle the other night, and was SO bleh. Tired. No legs. It was just a slog. But tonight I felt SO good. And now I'm so pumped.
RAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRR!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
-
:o Belfie, you totally ROCK!!!!
I want a bike... No actually, I want a bigger house so I can use my xtrainer again!!!!
That's such a massive effort well done!

Go Belfie! You rock

yehyah! belfie! awesomeness!

And on the scales this morning... dropped 0.6kg yay, and another 1cm off boobs & 1cm off waist.
And officially too small for my other two pairs of pants. Down to 1 pair of jeans. Need to go check the "small" clothes tubs in my garage!!! :leap::leap::leap:
-
 Bel you are an inspiration babe!!! Awesome!!!! How are you finding Zumba dvds?? I have one called Sculpt and Tone and I did it last night and I did my back/hip :o You have to use weights which I guess I shouldn't have but I thought a can of condensed milk would be ok but it's so fast even with weights - will definitely do it again but without the weights methinks! I wish I had a HRM so I could work out how many cals I am burning more accurately!
Have a great weekend everyone - stay strong, I know weekends are tough for me but am hoping I can make some healthy choices when we go out for dinner and drinks tonight ....and leave myself lots of room for some red ;)
-
hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!:clap::clap::clap::clap:
Wooohooooo to you belfie!!!!! So many woo hoo's!! Get thee to the "small clothes tubs!!!" lol I have a big bag, one day i will be game to go through it!!!! :) When I think some of it might actually fit!!!!
What a marathon!!!! I so should have logged in here last night!! The kids went to bed at a reasonable time, except I had already had a shower, so last night I opted for a good nights rest instead of excercise!! If I had of seen your inspirational post I most likely would have gotten of my butt and hopped on the bike!!! I havent hopped on the scales today yet to see if that was a bad choice or not!!! But you have inspired me to get right into it today!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANSTAR!!!!!- Enjoy yourself tonight!!! You only get one birthday a year, and 364-odd days to make up for it!!! :)
Mildez.. Slow and steady on the bike is good!! I started only doing about 6 minutes at a time, but really going hard.. now i go for longer but i take it a bit easier!! You will get there! Yo uand your bike will become good friends!! Oh one thing i noticed after being on it longer, my butt hurts!!! lol
Sterla... Good luck on your weigh in today!!!!
I have to go change two lovely nappies!! I will be back later to tell of my wonderful excercising today!!!! :)
-
Belfie: That is awesome! Well done!
Tanstar: Happy Birthday!
I weighed in this morning... 2.4kg lost and 1.5cm off my waist! Not sure how accurate it is, as last Saturday morning I had eaten heaps of junk the night before so may have weighed a bit more because of it. Either that or just the little bit if exercise and healthy eating has made a huge difference!
-
wOO hoO!!! Sterla!!! Thats a fantastic start!!!!! Who cares why lol!! A loss is a loss!!!!
-
Just wanted to say congratulations on all the losses ladies!!!!
And a huge happy birthday to Tanstar :D!!!!
Xxx
-

Daily intake so far (after dinner) is 1070 and I have done 30ds (web sites estimate it at 180 cal burn for a 70kg person)
DH bought some clinkers for us for movie and lollie night, 6clinkers is 103cal, would you do it?????
Happy birthday Tan, I hope you have had a fabulous day xx

Woohoo Sterla on the loss...just a little word of advice though, go slowly whilst BFing hun. Calorie King has me on 8300kj and 45g fat per day. Somedays I am struggling to meet those requirements, like today. I just had a mars bar and I still have kj's left!
-
3LM: I have been a little worried about that. I'm not counting calories, just trying to eat healthier but I do sometimes wonder if I've had enough for the day. It's such a difficult balancing act when b/f!
-
I started the same way for a little while, and then when I started doing CK, I realised how little food I was actually eating, I was eating like I had been when not bfing, and it was way too little kj's, fat and protien in particular. DS2 's fussiness was likely because my milk wasn't so great, or my supply was dwindling, and not just him, or teething, or things like that which I was blaming it on. It might be worth it for you to just make sure you're eating enough kj's. Maybe just check/write down what you eat for a week or so and how many kj's you eat a day just to make sure it's enough. Losing weight isn't worth losing your milk. And YES! It is a huge balancing act!!
-
Thanks for the advice 3LM, DD definitely comes first! I might have a look into CK just to get an idea if I'm eating enough.
-
Sj.. I would do it.. if six clinkers once a week is your vice.. then so be it!!!!
I didnt weigh yesterday- but i did today and i am down another 800 grams!! Woo hoo!!! Thats a total of 3.1kgs since i started nearly two weeks ago!! I am half way to my first goal!!!!! My lovely wii tells me i am actually 81... lol but i know its wrong!! I am stoked!! I am not doing any measurements until the end of the six weeks for the fatchicslim challange, so i can see a real difference!
Off to do some fun!!! Bye for now!!
-
Great job SB!!
I should weigh today, but I don't think I will. AF is here and I feel terribly bloated and horrible! I measured myself yesterday, and my god, how depressingly embarrassing. I am so ashamed. I am at least 10cm bigger everywhere than the last time I measured, which was about 4yrs ago, lol! But that is terrible. It was a bit of a wake up call. I have to shift this weight!!!!!
-
Hi guys,
Right some quite time so that i can get on the computer, so i will try and do some personals - sorry if i miss anyone
3LM go easy on yourself hun, 4 years is a long time and having children in that time really does change things... maybe not such a great idea to measure when AF is here as you hold more water and get bloated (although you may see a nice loss in a few days this way ;))
Sterla It is really tricky getting it right with BF and weight loss, thats why i started counting again, i am finding it much easier to know that i am getting enough of the right things. Interestingly enough i am swapping things (rice for salads etc) with meals and i am feeling just as ful (big salads) but i am staying under 1500cal for the day - the only time that i find that my milk struggles is when i dont drink enough water - i am using more now i am exercising more, so am conscious of that. Well done on the loss :) you are right, a little bit extra exercise (especially if it gets your heart rate up) does make a difference
Starbright I ate the clinkers, but i actually only ate 5 of them as i gave one to DH... and you are right, it felt like a real treat and i think that i will do the lollie selection next week so there is something that i can treat myself with, without feeling guity :)
Tan Hope you enjoyed your birthday and enjoyed our red :)
Belfie you are an inspiration!
Hi to Mildez, Ausgirl, Leesa, Beckoes, Livvy, Mel and anyone else i have forgotten!!!
AFM - :leap: 1.3kg down :cheer: I feel great, only another cm off my waist but i am loosing it off my ankles and wrists etc etc its really noticeable to me, but i guess not to anyone else yet.
OK, Miss A needs a feed, will BBL but probably on phone so apologies in advance if there are no more presies :)
-
I've been readin but not posting and now I've forgotton half of what I wanted to say.
Huge woohoo to Sterla, Belfie, SJ, SB on the awesome losses in cm and kilos. Way to go.
My woohoo for the week is I did 21mins on the bike last night and burnt 200cals PMSL. Not much to get excited about hehe but I was excited I did 6mins longer then the night before. Sat on it this morning and OMG ouch my butt. Didn't feel sore til I sat on the seat. Really struggling to do much all at once so I am trying the approach of just 5-10mins on it 2-3times a day if I can manage it. 6mins this morning for 60cals. Not much but I guess its so much better then nothing. I gor on the wiifit and it said I'm down 0.1kilo and haven't met my goal  oh well atleast I'm not heavier.
Sterla my milk was effected when I first started. I think I went a little hard in the beginning which is probably why it was so hard to keep up and I fell of the wagon 2weeks into it. But milk is well and truely back to been a good supply.

goin' clothes shopping :happydance:
just sayin'.

hi girls
congrats on all your losses! this thread is really helping to inspire me to lose lose lose!!!
last night i had a bit of a shocker, we ended up getting pizza takeaway. i've been pretty good for the rest of the week though so i hope i still have a loss.
just went for a big walk with the pram so i'm feeling good! weigh in tomorrow morning. fingers crossed!
-
:hello: Everyone! I hope you have all had a great weekend!! Lovely day here in Melb - tempting us with spring which is still so long away! I didn't completely blow out this weekend but I am still not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow - am just going to not beat myself up, twas my birthday after all and get on with it this week!
Hope you all have a brilliant one and hooray for clothes shopping Bel! My issue with shopping of any sort right now is that I firstly hate winter, and secondly 80's fashion don't float my boat -can't wait to hear what you got!

Belfie yeah on going clothes shopping. Hope you found some hawt clothes to show of your gorgeous slimmer figure. Do tell!
Ginger I HOPE your in for a nice surprise when you weigh in tomorrow.
Tanstar hope you get a lovely surprise also when you hope on the scales.
I was having a great day until I came home and had a rice thing which I should't have had as its got alot of milk in it (now will give J the runs stupid I) and then I ate a medium piece of chocolate cake I promised myself I'd not touch. Going to get on the wiifit and my bike again today when DD sleeps. I'm loving my bike been small enough. DD11 has been bathing with DD 4months but obviously I watch them both like a hawk but tonight my bike is going to come in the bathroom with us lol. I'll cycle as I chat to them.
So what should I be aiming to get my HR to or maintaining it at for the best cal/fat burning. On my bike it sits around 100 and I struggle to get it to 120 or above. My legs burn out before my heart rate gets much higher.
-
Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday night.
Well so far I have not eaten any more naughties for the night. Maybe because I did that all at 3pm. I managed another 22mins on the bike and a further 200cals. Wish it was more but I'm so unfit so just have to accept that and work on my fitness and train my butt for the seat. Of to bed soon then I can eat all the food I like in my dreams.
-
Mildez - you are doing great hun! I posted it the other day but remember, whatever speed/time you are doing, you are lapping people on the couch (like me!;)) so well done hun!! xoxox

Shopping report :)
OMG I'm like a noobie shopper! I haven't shopped properly for clothes since 2007. The shops have changed, the clothes have changed... where I used to shop doesn't fit. I don't know what size I am at ALL anymore. I was in Myer, and realised I was surrounded by old ladies... so I fled... to Myer Miss where I was surrounded by 12 year olds! So I fled again! I didn't manage to get any tops at all... I'm still a bit lumps/bumps & rolls on my top half... so have decided to wait one more month till I'm goal weight & then buy some tops. Plus I found a heap of tops in my small clothes tub last night... but no pants at ALL. I had hoped to buy maybe one more t-shirt or just something a bit nice... but apparently no-one wears t-shirts anymore!!! :o OH and Tan, omg with the 80's fashions... no, no, no, NO! And so many cotton-type shirts. I'm too short & busty to fit into anything that doesn't have some stretch in the fabric :wall:.
But... it's not all gloom, cos I did manage to get some pants. My rule... elastic waists, cos I have 4cm still to lose from my waist (but my bum shouldn't change much more now). So I found two AWESOME pairs of elastic-waisted (man that sounds daggy - but trust me, they're nice) cargos. Got one black & one khaki in different styles . And... they were...
...
...
:shhh:
size 8 :o
I can't believe it!
Plus I spent the whole trip having to go back & forward with sizes, cos I kept selecting sizes that were too big. And I've promised myself a splurge on tops once I've got rid of 2-3kg more, and maybe a pair of nice jeans (with a fixed waist, if that doesn't give me a squidgy muffin-top). So proud of myself for not buying Pumpkin patch pants! (lived in those for the last 4 years!). And I can't wait for another shopping trip!!
Re the discussion on supply, I was feeling a bit worried for the ladies with quite young bubbas as you're all seem to be pretty strict with your food IMO. To give you an idea, when I started with my 6 mo bubba, I was having 3 snacks a day (yoghurt, muesli bar etc, few squares of chocolate every day) and just eating my normal meals, plus having mayonnaise in my sandwich & a slice of cheese. And supper every night was a milo & two pieces of toast with butter on it (and not skimpy butter, enuff for it to be yummy). So if that gives you an idea. I think it's really important to still keep your cals up enuff whilst feeding, and including oils and some fats is important too. And I'll be honest I've had to tighten up my food now & I exercise a lot more than I did... but she's 10.5 months old, so that's a very different breastfeeding requirement. I also read another thread suggesting that making sure you have plenty of protein in your diet may also help with supply (maybe? :dunno: but either way it wouldn't hurt).
So SJ, when I read you were debating about having clinkers, well yes I definitely would have had something like that on a daily basis. I didn't feel like I was denying myself as I had a little treat pretty much everyday... and then I didn't binge or splurge, cos i really didn't feel I was denying myself or going hungry ever, and I think that helped me to succeed.
Mildez - you will only get fitter, and I promise, your ass will get less sore!
Oh and dinner at the ILs tonight. I was offered cream, icecream & boozy strawberries about TEN times (I kid you not). And I ate the fresh strawberries and didn't have any potato chips before dinner (unlike my son!). Yay so proud of myself for making nice healthy choices.
And my new pants look HAWT!!!!!!! :D
-
Belfie you must feel so good right now!! What a great incentive to keep it all up. Congratulations!!! You're going so well! Be proud and shout it from the roof tops! (I would be :) ) I have recently found a new womens clothing website, called modcloth (dotcom). I love it, they have some beautiful dresses, but not alot of it will fit me at the size I am, though they have some great accessories and shoes too, but it's incentive to get to a size when I will fit the clothes.
As for bfing and trying to lose weight, I agree. It's more important that baby is satisfied and that mummy's body is running on enough healthy foods to keep going well. It's hard enough to lose weight at all, let alone feeding a baby (and if it's like mine, it's every 2-3hrs day and night!). As I said, I am reccommended to be eating 8360kj, 113g protien and 61g of fat per day by calorieking (I think I read it wrong yesterday!). And TBH, some days I struggle with it, particularly the meeting protien and kj requirements (as in I can't eat enough!) especially when I exercise.
Mildez, you're doing better than me today hun, don't beat yourself up, just keep slogging away at it. You will get there.
Tan, it's you're birthday weekend, celebrate!!! Get back to it tomorrow :) Life isn't about it deprivation, it's about celebration (isn't there a saying that goes something like that???). Just because we are trying to lose weight and be healthy we shouldn't not celebrate things! And sometimes celebrating includes all the naughty things in life, like cake, wine and bubbles!
AFM, well I was going ok this morning, until DH called and said he'd be late from work. This was after he told me he'd be home 2hrs early. I was struggling already (being ultra tired, AF is here and the kids were crazy cause it was raining and they were stuck inside), but I had been going ok at holding off the cravings, and I was going to go on my big walk again when DH came home. THEN.... well I made some sweet potato oven chips (they are so yum!), had too much food in general, and stole the kids chocolate that was in the fridge for their treats (we don't usually have any in the house, but had gotten them a treat yesterday to have today). Then DH came home and had had a bad day and told me not to worry about cooking (I was teary and just feeling crappy) and we agreed to get pizza for dinner and I got a magnum ego too. I am suffering for it all now, I feel gross and I have heart burn and reflux. Plus I think DS2 has pains of some sort too because he's woken 2 times already and took over an hour to get into bed. So I did it all to myself, and I think I will suffer for it!
Back on that horse tomorrow....
-
Belfie - If I was a size 8 I would be finding the biggest font I could find!! Yay for pants lovely and I am glad I am not the only one who feels like I am in a time warp when shopping! I also find it hard to place myself fashion wise right now. I feel like I am too old for some stuff at Cotton On/Glassons/Just Jeans etc. but then too young for Katies/Sussan etc. even though I do find things at all of those places at times. I also don't spend big $$ on clothes so that makes it tricky!! Target is usually pretty good for me for basics etc. anyway babbling on - you go girl!! Hopefully as spring comes so too will some nice stuff that doesn't make me feel so old - Cotton On have these polyester shirts that are like a cardigan and I remember my sister wearing the same thing early 80's, not a good look (sorry young chickies in here - I am 35 but man, I feel every day of it at times )
3LM - Don't beat yourself up hun, we all have cr@p days and will just make better choices next time. xoxox The difference for me now is CONSCIOUSLY making these decisions whereas in the past I wouldn't think twice about eating pizza for dinner, even though I may have had maccas for lunch and bad snacks all day :o
AFM - Just weighed in........ same weight to the gram as last week - so it's great considering I have had a big weekend of overindulging, but after all my exercise a bit disappointing too - why couldn't I have lost 100 grams??
Anyway back on it this week and I WIILL have a good loss next week. Good luck this week everyone!!
-
hi girls
belfie- that is soooo awesome that you are in size 8! wow! what an achievement. you must be so proud :)
tan- i am 34 and i know exactly what you are talking about. i feel like i'm trying to be a teenager every time i walk into sports girl and i find myself always coming back to the same shop- country road- i feel like they're the only ones who actually design and cut clothes for 35 year olds iykwim?
asm- well, i'm very disappointed and nearly decided just to disappear from this thread and never even post again :( i weighed in this morning and i've put on weight! in my first week! i can't believe it really. i thought i was doing quite well :( i mean, i actually 'feel' thinner in my body itms? so its very confusing....
I've gone from 70.8 to 71.1....any suggestions on what i should do this week? i'm spewing and almost feel like giving up
-
Tanstar yes I remember you saying we would be lapping peoples on the cough. I love it. Except my bike doesn't move and it sits behind the cough so I wasn't lapping anybody lol. I know what you mean but. I also love Leesa's saying what you eat in private shows in public. Boo to not loosing 100grams bit yeah on been the same. You haven't taken a step backwards at all.
3LM Hope your night improved with your DS and you have a better day today.
Belfie woohoo on the size 8 jeans.
Of to clean today. No plans. Will get on my bike as soon as DD3 sleeps but only for 10mins as I need to clean badly.
Ginger could it be just changes in fluid? What sort of measures are you taking? Like increasing exercise, calorie counting etc? Did you do measurements? I guess that could be the best indication as you said you feel smaller. Perhaps your building muscle that weighs more then fat right?
Why have a lost a little weight but yet my stomach feels even fatter and sloppier? Got on the wiifit and it said my BMI was 24.83 woohoo. I don't believe it as it takes the weight of for the clothing but yeah hopefully by Thursday my weigh in day I might actually just be back in the healthy weight range.
