Hi girls!
Thought I would come in here and hopefully give encouragement and get some in my quest to lose baby weight! I put on 15kg with my DS (8 weeks old tomorrow) and have lost 10kg. I have three weight loss goals:
#1: Get to pre-pregnancy weight (5kg to go)
#2: Get below 70kg (another 3kg)
#3: Get to 65kg (another 5kg)
I was 65kg for *ages* but put on the 5kg last year due to a missed miscarriage and couldn't seem to get it off.
Here's what I'm doing:
* Going to the gym 3x a week (30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes weights)
* Breastfeeding
* Not drinking soft drinks, trying to drink as much water as possible
* Eating healthily but not being obsessive about it
-
I've lost 4kg this last month yeah! How is everyone else going?
-
4kg is brilliant mate!!!!
I lost 5kg - and then had a blow out of a weekend to celebrate my 5kg loss - and put 1kg back on.. pmsl...
-
i just joined up with this weight watchers program. i've never used them before but my last couple of attempts at dieting have failed miserably, i realise i need help. hopefully i'll be able to keep on track this time.
-
one week down and i've already lost a fraction of weight. better than nothing!
-
Great job, lolla!
If you would like there is a thread for people who want to lose weight which is more active than this one is at the moment- 2009 Weightloss Challenge (or something similar to that! Sorry don't know how to post links). I'm sure it would be ok for you to join up if you want to!
-
Ive written a new diet plan (better meals, more choices - chocolate included!)
So hopefully I can post some good results soon.
-
hi i am on a healthy eating plan and trying to lose some uneanted kilos.
while doing IVF i gained 5 kg and i hadn't lost any weight at all. untill about 4 weeks ago . i started a healthy eating plan and lost 200g 1st week
and then nothing in week 2
then i lost another 300g last week
this week , i lost 400g
so i have lost 900g now, thats almost a kg, i am so excited, i feel better already.
will keep up the good eating and trying to lose at least 3 kg before march ends.
-
did anyone else stumble over the long weekend?
-
i found the long weekend a bit harder . as we were camping you don't tend to watch what you eat. i have a weigh in on thursday so i'm trying extra hard to stay the same by then and not gain any.
good luck

i have been sort of following the low gi diet thing. i find i am not used to eating this much food. it seems i am eating more. i have had a few good days and have weigh in tomorrow. wish me luck.
-
hi all
I need all the help I can get. I have weight issues most of my life and I am now somewhere a little over 100kg and want to get to 65kg - so a whopping 35kg.
I have an almost 5 year old and a very demanding 8 month old (also not a big sleeper - like you BekZ). My main problem is emotional eating which I need to tackle head one. I eat mainly when I am tired, under pressure, in demand & grumpy (which happens alot). Chocolate & biscuits are my vice of choice.
Keen to have somewhere to share my progress. Planning to stick to high protein, low carb plan with some exercise when i can with baby.... Any advice with eating plans and how to stick to this long term would be great!

joy mama: i have found the low gi diet easier to do than the low carb high protein. for me the low carb diet made me feel so tired but the low gi diet has given me energy.
i gained nothing while away camping for one week. and my mum ( who hardly ever says anything nice to me) even told me today i looked like i had lost some weight since xmas day. so that was good for me.
i have the " low gi diet revolution book" and i use it all the time. i find this realisitic and easy to prepare meals that taste good and i am loosing weight.
hope you find some answers.
also maybe some walks with bubs in the pram, i go with friends as i am 1o times more likely to go if i book it in with someone else.
keep up the good work.
-
just letting you guys know that i've been so good with my healthy eating that in the last 8 weeks i've lost 2.5 kg !!! and i'm feeling better already.
keep up the good work
-
lollies, doesn't sound good for weight loss, ha ha, but if it works hey why not do it.
i have come to a stand still and after loosing 2.5 kg gained about 300g in last 2 weeks. try to get back on track after AF has finished.
good luck to all

Hi girls... I had a quick read of this thread yesterday but it didn't seem very active? Do you all touch base regularly? I did have a look on ebay at those lollipops :p It reminds me of this diet book I picked up on sale a few years ago, it's called the Shangri-la diet where they recommend you drink sugar water or oil (or both) throughout the day to basically suppress your appetite... I found that the sugar water made my teeth sore and the oil made me shaky, dizzy, weak and feel like vomiting?
I just had a D&C on Friday and am now still TTC #1, before I fell pg I needed to loose 5kg and while I was pg i put on about 3 -3.5kg so I am going for an even 10kg weight loss (but I only started my ticker after I lost .5) Anyway in the past I lost about 7k one time and 9kg another time by counting calories (1200) per day which is totally easy once you learn how much everything is, and anyone who has done this would have found that you tend to eat the same food all the time anyway... You know the same items on your shopping list, cook the same meals at home etc... And it's not like you can't make new stuff, you just count it as you go and the important thing to remember is that it's not forever... Anyway I find it really easy to do but can see how some people can't be bothered. So that's what I am doing again and I would love to start exercising straight away but my stomach is sore from the op on Friday... But I can't wait to get back into it and see some results on the scales!
Good luck to you all, it seems you don't need it though as you are already getting results  I'm looking forward to you all holding me accountable for my declaration of weight loss and to sharing the journey with you all

cherished: give yourself some time to recover before doing any radical weight loss, i know how much harder it can be.
we're a bit slack in this thread but all got some goals.
i took this great salad and chicken to work today and felt great, i have a weigh in tomorrow. hope it's an arrow down.
good luck
-
well i have lost some more weight or should i say cm's.
i sort of started on 11 nov last year but have been more serious since xmas time.
anyway i have lost 200g ( yes that is two hundred grams) ! big deal !!!
but the funny thing is that they did my measurements today and i have lost 18 cm's all up. they do bust,
underbust
waist
abdomen
hips
thighs
and arms.
i am so proud of myself. i am achieving my goals slowly.
i have been doing a low gi thing sort of with salads and more walking
keep up the good work guys.

Well done JBM
AFM I have been doing ok?... Had the D&C Friday so have been sitting on my butt ever since. I have had a couple of days where guests have bought over sticky treats for morning tea and just like the biggest looser I gave into temptation! OH well!... I think I may have lost weight anyway but it is kinda hard to tell because I am bleeding now like a period (sorry for TMI)! and I am really bloated... I think I will absolutely see a change next Friday though so I am happy either way. Ideally I would like to loose 1 kg a week but as long as it is .5 I will be happy.
Hope you're all doing well :p
-
cherished, no one would really say no to free treats. your friends are trying to make you feel better. look after yourself, give some time for recovery. x
-
Hi girls, I am happy to see a loss this week even if it's only 100g :) Here's hoping for an even better week next week!
Hope you're all doing great!
-
cherished:
you need to read my previous info. it's not always the weight you loose. good job though. i had a pretty good day today.
-
Hi there JBM, I have read your previous posts. I have not lost anything off measurements either, I know that when I start to build muscle and loose fat the scales will not necessarily go down but my measurements will. In the past I have been 54kg & 57kg and a size 10 and I have also been 63kg and a size 10... I'm really looking forward to getting moving tomorrow (walking slowly) and than in another week starting to work out properly :) Thanks for all your support JBM, you said 'they' took measurements, who are 'they'?
-
cherished :i go to a gym where they do measurements once a month and a weigh in each week, it helps me to be accountable to someone other than self.
abraham: not sure what yo asking, is it that you want to be fat ? or don't want to be ? sorry for confusion.
i've made a healthy chicken and veggie soup for tonight. should be good

Hi Girls, I've come to join this forum... my name is Mother Goose and I'm FAT! I weight about 115.3Kg  I am embarking on a lifestyle change with the aim of losing a LOT of weight and getting fit again. I am starting PT sessions today (eek!). I also have a blog (see below) which I am posting to daily to help keep track of my intake vs expenditure and also to keep me accountable. I'll let you know how I go at the PT session!
-
Well done mother goose :leap: I look forward to sharing the journey with you... I have 10kg to loose and I want it gone NOW... Doesn't seem much compared to your challenge but it is still just as hard no matter how much weight there is to loose...
I am feeling great about having done a workout yesterday and going for a walk on sat... I'm also going to go to a class once a week at a gym but mainly at home workouts at my home gym :)
YAY so excited you are making a life change GOOD LUCK
Hi JBM hope you're doing well too !!

i have decided that i am going to be extra good for next 6 weeks. i had acupuncture yesterday and she said she think i need to do a detox before we do IVF again.

good luck to all those trying to lose some of that nasty fat. x
-

-
Hi girls... Jut dropping in to say that I didn't feel like I had lost any weight yesterday so I didn't even get on the scales!
I have started reading a book called the Gabriel Method has anyone heard of it or done it??? I am only up to pg 19 so I will let you know what I think when I am done.
-
never heard of it Cherish! Don't blame you for not weighing yourself, I'm not going to weigh myself for a few weeks I think...
-
cherish: hope the book has some answers for you. i am sort of doing the low gi thing. i've got the low gi revolution book but havn't read it for a while.
MG: keep up the good work, keep us posted. good luck

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm craving pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watching Everyone loves Raymond and icing my back and they're eating fatty, oily, cheesy, yummy looking pizza (droooooooooooooool)... and now I want some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help me be strong! I've already had a small choc egg today!!!
On a positive note, am going to PT this afternoon despite back and knee. Doing modified work out. Bit tentative but don't want to lose my motivation.
-
Hi girls :hello:
Great job to both of you! You are doing really well :)
OMG Pizzzzza is my absolute fav food along with red wine and curry!!!!
The Gabriel Method book is great I recommend you both go and get it. It is reminding me of many things I already know and is very inspiring. I am almost there already with the nutrition advice he gives but he has inspired me to go the extra mile that I have been wanting to do but just haven't yet. The book is about switching off your FAT Programs and getting your body to want to loose weight. It's also about not dieting but adding to what you eat to make sure you are getting nutrients you need to then stop feeling hungry. It also talks about causes of being overweight and how to speed up your metabolism etc
I haven't weighed myself for a while and have decided not to... I figure my clothes will start to be too big and when I get back into my size 12 pants I will get back on the scales.
Happy easter!!!! GOD this is a hard time of year for us! I was bad (not like you 2 goodies) I ate about 10 little eggs in3 days... Maybe even more!
-
Hi girls, just wanted to drop in and wish you all will power and a little encouragment today :grouphug:
I have to say that I am totally impressed with myself, I got up this morning and made a fresh juice and than had half a hot cross bun. Don't even really feel like chocolate (which is strange)? On a separate note I am hoping we have conceived and I am pg now so choc wont be that great for bubs if there is one (or two) in there
Anyway I hope you all enjoy the day and aren't struggling too much!
