Its an awful drug. Please don't use it!!

My best friend a few years ago went into a psychosis using it. It ruined her marriage and all her friendships. I haven't heard from her in over 4 years!

I was using it at the same time and I didn't sleep for days on end.

I've used speed in my youth and I found it had less side effects on me than duro (clearly not implying speed is acceptable for anyone to use just mentioning my experience)

Its been banned in some countries and I wish Australia would follow suit. Doctors hand it out like candy sometimes!

Please don't use it. I work with people suffering drug addictions. I have a client with a serious drug proble, this drug being one of the problems. He too suffered from psychosis

Don't use it, it;s no good. SIL uses it and so does a co-worker and it just wrecks your body and makes you not eat.
Um, can I ask at that weight with hight, why do you want to loose weight??

I too was prescribed Duromine, 5 months after the birth of my DD-2010. I took the script, but never filled it.
Because of the changes that my body had undertaken during TTC, preg, birth and post-birth, I was diagnosed as 'obese' medically. I am 168cm tall, and was 78kg at the time, if anything I was unfit and 'untoned'. After that experience I dropped down to 60kg in 5 weeks, I really thought that others must've know that I was 'obese' too, and how could I live with that?! How disgusting was I?! The people around me worried, i'd become 'too' skinny.
Having the script handed to me brought back all my body issues that I *thought* I had conquered during late adolesence, but hadn't.

Today, after a second baby (DS-2011), I struggle more with my own identitiy and seld-appreciation more than I ever have.

If you need to lose weight, lose it on your own, for your own reasons.

Im not sure if this was for me or Ausgirl.....

But I did it for competitive reasons.... I was doing long distance runs and still had what I considered "jigly bits" around my hips and bum. 5kg slows you down enough to count. I could not for the life of me, shift that weight. I had the said "perfect" diet for competition and even with running over 70km a week, that weight was still hanging in there I ended up giving up competition running because I simply couldnt get my body where I needed it. At the time I left competitive running (12 months after trying duromine) I was 56.5 kg and my body was stuggling (periods became very sparse)

I'm happy where I am now. My body has come back to "what it wants to be" which is 67kg, 8kg up from the place where I thought I could lose 5 more kg. I see now what I was doing to myself, but couldnt then, my eyes were on the prize, not looking at what was best for my body. It took alot for me to realise that my body just wasnt, and could not be the build I wanted.

I could have written your post a fortnight ago! I was telling my doctor that I was finding it incredibly frustrating that I still was not losing the weight after having my son 6 months ago, even though I have been going to the gym for the past 3.5 months at least once a day for 5-6 days a week, seeing a dietician and eating very well. I am 164cm and 70kgs. I would like to get back to 64-65. According to the BMI I am in the overweight range, but not by alot. My doctor said I can give you a script for Duromine that will help you lose the weight. I hadn't heard of it and then googled it and was horrified at what I read. I assumed it helped people with hormonal issues that was making weight harder to lose (which I am getting sorted at the moment, having bloodtests, ultrasounds and seeing a gyno tomorrow). Then when I read the info I saw it is for people who are obese and it is an appetite suppressant (which I don't need). So now I feel like my doctor thinks I need it and therefore must think I look fat and awful. As someone else said, it has brought up alot of issues I thought I had put to bed from my teenage years with self loathing my body (even though back then I was 50kgs and a size 6-8!).

The side effects look really nasty, I don't think it is worth it. For me, I have stepped it up at the gym and also thrown in more walking/running during the week as well as getting my hormonal issues sorted.

    Oh I see, fair enough

I am 60kg and 163 cm and I have a jiggly bloated belly too LOL. But I am just trying to watch what I eat to stop bloating, helps a lot.

Wow, I don't have kids yet, but I gotta say I'm a bit scared of the lengths ladies are going to to loose baby weight. While I enjoy going to the gym a few times a week I doubt very much if you would find me there 5-6 days a week let alone 3 months after I gave birth
