Did a 3.3km walk today!
Short post - DD has just woken up.
Well girls, I am soooooo proud of myself at the moment. I did a 7km run today with my group and only stopped at the 2 designated stop points with the group - I kept going the rest of the time!! It was all mental, my body was fine, my breathing was fine, my legs were fine, the only thing different today was my determination to finish the run without stopping. It is such a good feeling. We were running along a path beside the freeway at one point and I just felt so proud of myself and thought of all the people in their cars that were wishing they could do what we were doing. It really gave me the motivation to keep going.
If you have ever thought you'd love to be able to run, I really recommend joining up with a bunch of people, friends, a running group, anything! and give it a go. I never thought I'd be writing to tell you that I could run 7km but here I am! :cheer:
:clap::happyforyou::happyforyou: Woot Winter!!! Well done hon!!!
For me, I had PT today. It was ok. I'm having a bit of a relapse. D picked up on it at one point. Apparently I go quiet when I'm in pain  But then I came home and did 30 min on my treadmill covering 2.91Km  Apparently I have issues...
BUT, I am booked in for a massage at D's request. I am seeing a remedial massage therapist on Monday. Hopefully that will help a bit with the hip flexor and back... I can dream can't I?
PLanning a bike ride (not suppose to be doing it) over the weekend. And treadmill sessions. And weights.
Take it easy hun, no relapse ok?! I'm thinking of you, and hope you don't push it too far. Hope the massage helps get on top of this relapse before it gets on top of you.
Winter, that's fantastic!!! I've always wanted to run. I started the c25k last year but stopped at about week 5 when I fell pregnant. A friend on my FB had put pics up of her after her first triathlon and that inspires me except I'm not very good at swimming (or running or cycling for that matter!)
MG, a massage sounds great. I hope it can help with the pain or at the very least be relaxing!
I walked to playgroup today - a 3.3km round trip depending on which route I take. Walking is all I can seem to manage with the two littlies. Really want to go back to Pilates classes. My pelvis is playing up at night again and I know just doing Pilates will help. There is no way I could go back to aikido yet with my pelvis so loose, so Pilates and walking, maybe running, will be it for now.
thanks hon. I will try to take it easy. D has this theory that if I record my exercise, I will behave... pft. Righto! He is so so wrong! Hahahaha. I will see how I go. I will try to be sensible... but I've also had my coals stoked and want to get rid of this weight big time!!! I NEED TO GET DISCIPLINED!
Eluned, be careful with running whilst your pelvis is still unstable. Get your physio's clearance first
Well, yesterday I did another session at home and did 3.41Km in 35 minutes. Followed by walking lunges, squats, crunches, and the prone hold. I've progressed to doing the prone hold on me toes! WOOT! My arms hurt after my session the other day with D (good hurt). My back and hip are still very tight - soooo looking forward to my massage on Monday!!!
I sat down today did a meal plan for the week. I've started it for the month but only completed this weeks. My aim was to get my daily intake within my calorie limits. I am pleased to say that I've done it well under most days! If I can control incidental snacking, I should lose a couple of kilo's this week!!!! I've done the plan so I'm not starving or getting bored with my food. They are GOOD food choices, healthy, and yummy! My morning tea and breakfast is fairly repetitious... but I don't have much time of a morning to make anything exciting and morning tea needs to be something I can just grab and take to work. Lets see how I go!
How is everyone else doing?!
That's great MG,I have been keeping up with you on the TPU thread ;) Oooh, a massage  Enjoy
Hey Winter...you go Girl!! :happyforyou:
Eluned: You sound like you are doing the right thing. Walking and Pilates are excellent excerise. I walked everywhere when I had DS1 and it was fantastic.
Well, I have been caught out with the Anzac weekend. I didn't realise till too late about Attack not being on tomorrow due to Anzac day, other wise I would have got up and gone to RPM this morning :wall: On Monday I can't get to the gym as it's still a public holiday with no creche and DH is helping his parents move into their new retirement village.
So it will be back to Combat on Wednesday and I will throw a few walks in as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.
I rock!! :cheer:
Just did 14 mins on the bike - but I really pushed myself. Did about a minute at the top resistance - and didn't slack off. Leesa - I actually heard your voice saying 'C'MON!!!' LOL
Burnt 70 calories, travelled 5 kms and pushed it all the way. I was wobbly when I got off the bike!
Will be back later for personals.. need to go stretch before I get sore and stiff! But had to post straight away before I forgot my stats! :wall:
Well done Nettie! :dance::clap::cheer::cheer:
Heather - oh that sucks hon! How are the walks going?
Winter - how are you doing hon?
Leesa - hon. How are you babe?
AFM - I went for a loooong ride today. Well, it was only about 6Km and it took me about 40 minutes. I wasn't going very fast but I wasn't trying to beat a speed record - just refamiliarise myself with my bike, see how I go with the hip and back. As soon as I began to pedal, my legs were caining just above my knees. It lasted the whole time but I pushed through it. Funnily though, when I gt off at the end, it went away and I've been fine since! Hahahaha. I pulled up well. My back was great until about 4 hours later but settled again. Hip was a bit iffy towards the end of the ride but ok now. My only complaint is I've had pins and needles down my left leg to my toes for the last 3 or so hours. It is usually a sign that something is compressed in my back... but considering it is made worse by DH massaging my calves - I believe it is muscular. I have my rehab massage tomorrow so hopefully that helps!
So, considering I did my ride this morning and the symptoms...I'd be forgiven for not doing treadmill time tonight; right? Weeeelllll I did. It wasn't a brilliant session but it was a session. I left out my lunges and squats tonight but did 40 crunches and 2 lots of prone hold on my toes! I feel good... other than this tinglying which is irritating me. I'll take some panadol before bed.
I'm planning on a rest day tomorrow - esp with the massage. And then I have PT Tuesday...
Keep active girls! And remember *sings rather badly* I'm a woman. On a Mission....
Hi ladies,
don't post in here much anymore because i'm not exercising!!!! :wall:
Living in the jungle is great, but i am so missing my bodycombat. :( Does anyone khow if you can buy the DVD's to do at home?
thanks,
desperate mother in need of some combat. ;) xx
I'm not 100% sure, but I am fairly certain you would be able to. Have a look at ezyDVD (it's an online DVD store). They have a wide range of DVD's for sale and may just have something. I remember when Combat first hit the market and there was stuff everywhere... so surely you can! You could always try Rebel as well - they have an online store too.
I had my massage yesterday. IT HURT! Bloomin' 'Eck! BUT I do feel much better. My left glute is still tight. She couldn't find the spot that triggers my back pain though... which makes me believe it is structural again and not muscular :( I now have a bruise on my butt  She said a big part of my problem is my adductors, pubic symphysis, my solas, and something starting with P. Great. More things "wrong" with me! She said to go back in two weeks, D wants me to go back sooner. We will see!
No exercise yesterday - it was my "rest" day.
Now, WHERE are you all?! Hope you are all too busy exercising to get in here! ;)
Hey Junglemum...I googled Combat workout DVD and few sites came up. Amazon seems to have a bit. I have used Ezy DVD in the past and they are pretty good, although not sure if they post OS?
MG: Well done on the bike ride!! I had a remedial massage last year and she asked if she could work on my glutes. Once she started she said "has anyone ever touched these"..I felt saw a bruised the next couple of days too, It felt good.
Goooooo Nettie :cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:
Thanks for asking MG..all good. Back to combat tomorrow. Did a bit of incidental running around over the weekend so that keeps me going.
I am going to gym classes twice a week and generally just try to keep active (provided I can stay of the computer and BB).
Have a great week everyone!!
So what did everyone get up to today to burn off any naughty food they ate over the long w'end? :D (I ate lots of chocolate & baileys & sausages & bacon & eggs & cider & corn chips.... I was baaaadddd!)
I did 10km on the treadmill in 68 mins today. Damn things reset at 57 mins and start to do a 3 minute cool down so totally interrupted my rhythm as I hit 8.2km. But I restarted it as quick as I could and kept going. I am feeling quite chuffed with myself.
As a bit of encouragement & motivation - what is your goal? What do you want to be able to do & when do you want to be able to do it? Lets keep a track ( should we start a new thread just for our goals?) and celebrate when we get there. :cheer: Post here & I'll cut & paste into new thread, may even see if we can sticky it for easy reference.
I had pizza tonight so won't diss your weekend eating ;)
Well done on your treadmill time Winter!:clap::dance::clap: I'm super impressed!
My goal... lose 8Kg min by Dec... be back running by Dec.
I did PT today. Nothing exciting, just loads of stretching really. I guess he didn't want to jeapordise my massage yesterday? It was a good session. I dunno. It was ok. I miss my two sessions a week.
Winter..you are machine  Well done.
My goal is just to keep on going! Once I start a routine, I am pretty good at sticking to it so Combat on Wednesday and Attack on Sunday...I have been pretty consistent too so happy with that.
Combat this morning. I really like the girl who takes it. She mixes it up every week. We did that funny sword movement this morning to the Pirate movie music. Always makes me giggle. I really try and step it up and I am managing to get through the tiredness. I am feeling alot fitter and I like feeling a little sore the next day so I know I have put in
Hi guys! Sooo sorry i've been away for so long :( So! Can everyone give me a run down of what you're all up to? I can't wait to hear how everybody is!
JungleMum - unfortunately the only way you can get hold of the DVDs is if you become an instructor...(and an instructor might get into trouble if she told you that there are some (dodgy) copies of some releases out there to download ;) ). There are other great DVDs out there though!
As for me...i'm teaching heaps. Been really slack with my resistance training but heaps of cardio which means I have to eat SO much food. It's nuts, i'm even having to add things like lollies to my diet just to get the extra carbs. It's not as much fun as it sounds - I hate having to eat when i'm not hungry.
Can't wait to hear how everybody is :)
PS I read something yesterday which I love and thought i'd share - "This won't get easier, you'll just get better" love it!!!
I have totally lost all motivation to exercise. I stopped going to the gym about 2 months ago when I was so busy at work preparing things to leave my job and start a new job. Since starting the new job I've been to the gym twice. I've had "good" excuses: I started a new job, I was tired because of my thyroid issues, I got a bad cold, yadda yadda yadda. But now those things have resolved themselves: I'm adjusting to the new job, I'm on medication for my thyroid and feel somewhat normal now, I'm basically over the cold. I've noticed that I'm putting on weight. I was down to the 4th hole on my belt but now I'm back to the second largest hole on my belt.
I haven't dared to step on the scales either.
I'm thinking of doing a few PT sessions to get me motivated again. I'm trying to get back to healthier eating again - that's been another issue I've been slack in. I feel like all the hard work I did at the end of last year has been undone. I had so much motivation back then and now I have none at all. I don't want to get unfit or put on weight. I love the way I feel when I'm exercising and noticing changes in my body and my confidence but that's not enough to motivate me.
i've been a tad quiet in here too. been over in the 4 week challenge area. did pump, step and attack so far this week. i think i am still getting too many carbs from food or something though cause i am not noticing a HUGE weight loss. just bits and pieces. my legs were sore after pump (i added a bit of extra weight for squats) and today in attack they instructor was YELLING at me while we were doing squats to touch the floor with our hands.. soooo hurt! would of been ok if they werent sore to begin with. LOL (its a bit wierd.. i kinda like it when she yells at me i do put in a bit of extra effort)
speaking of weights in pump.. my triceps are REALLY sore! i put on a bit of extra weight this week too. i think its too much because i dont feel like i can do the movements correctly, yet any lower weight is a bit too easy.. what should i do?
oh, and why can i not do a push up on my toes.. i thought after doing pump for so long now that i would have gotten up enough strength to do them by now. but i seriously can not do it. i pretty much collapse before i get half way down! *embarrasing*
Danni thats a shame :( But you know that when you do find that motivation you'll be back with a vengence! Just remember how good it makes you fell, but baby steps...if you're not in the right mindset then you won't enjoy it and you won;t stay...but remember you don't know till you get back there ;)
Hollo - sounds great! But don't worry about Carbs hun - worry more about fat in your diet, your body wants to use carbs for energy which means its much less likely to be stored as fat then fat is. Also doing Pump you will gain muscle so that could be why you're not losing masses of KGs, how do you feel? Do you have more energy? How do your clothes feel?
With your Pump weight, if you're positive your tech is great with the lower weight and it feels easy then stay with this new weight but instead of comprimising your tech when you get tired just maybe miss out a few reps every so often, you will get stronger but you have to be careful of your tech while that happens. It's hard, i'm at that point with Bi's - 7.5 is too light but 10 makes me really struggle with my tech...practice, practice, practice! Also have you tried doing strength training by yourself in the gym? That might help you whack on a bit more muscle for that extra bit of strength :) Do you remember which Tri exercise you're struggling with or is it all of them?
As for push ups on your toes...for starters, in Pump you'r whole body is pretty fatigued by the time you get to shoulders and in Attack, well those push ups are INSANE so don't feel bad! There is nothing wrong with knees but have you tried at home when you're not already tired?
thanks heaps for the advice C-Q! yeah i have tried them at home and i still cant do em! :-(
i never get around to going down to the weights area in the gym, i feel a bit overwhelmed with all the muscly guys there and i dont know 100% what to do etc.
with the triceps.. i am pretty sure i am good technique wise with the lower weight 2 1/2 each side but when i add the extra 1kg each side thats when it is hard. i find the most tricky bit with triceps is the one where you move the bar towards your forhead and thats what i struggle with with the extra wight.
i didnt even think about the gaining muscle thing instead of loosing weight.. i dont feel dramatically different but i guess i have noticed a few changes. thanks again! :-)
No worries hun! It can be intimidating when the guys are taking up the weights area but trust me - they're all too busy checking themselves out in the mirror and kissing their guns to notice anyone else lol!!!
The exercise your talking about it the tricep extentsion and it's one the hardest tri exercises. If you really concentrate on squeezing your elbows together and keeping your arm from the elbow to the shoulder dead still then that should help :)
GL!
Good to see you back CQ.:hello:
DD was sick today so I couldn't go to the gym :( I was hoping all day that she would come good, but she wanted to go to bed at 5.30 tonight so she's sick, poor little chicken. See how she is in the morning, fingers crossed she's ok. I think its the fever that comes 5-12 days after the MMR vacc as the timing is right.
My goal is to run 10km without stopping by the end of May In Real Life (not just on treadmill in climate controlled gym!)
Ah I haven't been around here much because haven't been doing anything exciting - just walking! It's pretty much all I can do at the moment. My pelvis is feeling alot better although at night time it gets sore once I've been in bed for awhile. And also because I tend to lay on my side during the night co-sleeping with and feeding DD, I wake up with a kind of dead hip feeling. Once I'm up and about for the day, it feels fine.
Winter, so envious of your running :) Wish I could run! Got to get this pelvis thing sorted first.
Eluned - has your physio looked at your solace? Ask them too - it sounds like it could be a bit tight.
Winter - you rock. You WILL hit 10Km!
CQ - welcome back hon. Feel free to have some of my flubber to work off!
Hollo - stick with it hon. And don't be intimidated by the Meat Heads. I stick music in and concentrate on my goals and that is it!
Dan - Take a deep breath, set yourself some mini goals, and take it one step at a time! I am confident that once you get back into the swing of it, you will feel better and love it again!
Heather - I totally understand about the routine! I LOVE my routine too!
AFM - I. QUIT. I had an awesome PT session yesterday. Have been feeling great. Had pilates this morning... and by the time I started work at 1230, I was achey and tight. By 230, I was wincing. I had to put my brace on. So... if this happens when I'm having a GOOD run... what's going to happen when I have a bad one? So, I. QUIT.
Hey y'all!
Long time since I've been about, just popping in to make sure you're all doing well :D and it certainly seems that you are doing extremely well....
I've been doing my Attack and Pump back to back class still - life is a bit crazy, but it'll smooth out soon enough, and I can hear my spin bike calling my name .
Mwah to you all - keep rocking chics!
Welcome back CQ!! I hope MG read your post, especially the last line! Love it.
:D Thanks leesa.
Noooooo MG :o Take a step back and get your rhythym again. Try a few lighter sessions and see how you feel.
Eluned: Walking is great, especially if you have limited movement in your hip.
How is DD Winter? Hope she is feeling better so you can get back to training and also just hope she is feeling better for her too.
Well.....Attack! Attack! Attack! Love it. Although there was just too many people today, the instructor mentioned he hadn't seen a class this big before.
So this week is just Combat on Wednesday for me. Will skip Sunday Attack, plan on eating panckakes and having a walk with the family and just generally hanging around :)
Have a great work out week everyone.
I ran around with my boy this arvo kicking the soccer ball.. but other than that, I've been a bad girl!
Nettie - what are your fitness goals for this year? I've got a thread going and I'd love to add you in and keep you motivated. Give me and N! :cheer:
Well girls, I just ran 10km on the tready in 61.10 - knocking a whopping 6.5 mins off my first time last week. I am chuffed. :cheer: I signed up for the fun run that I am training for today too so I am all set and almost ready to go, 3 more weeks of training and then the big day. I'm so excited, I even bought the T-shirt - I want everyone to know that I can run 10km! Just got to do it non-stop in real life now! BRING IT ON!!
Keep posting your fitness goals ladies so we can keep track and see how everyone is progressing towards them.
PS. MG - what do you mean by "I quit"? Just for that day right? You're getting back on the horse so to speak? Check in babe, I want to know what's happening with you...
MG - how are you going hun??
Winter - 6.5 mins well done!!!
My goals...hmmm, want to get more resistance training done in the gym but it's hard to work it in with Pump. Plus I seem to spend so much time at the gym i'm loathe to spend more there loL!
Remember FITNESS IS A BATTLE - WELCOME TO THE FRONT LINE...
Well done Winter!:clap::clap::cheer::cheer: So excited for you!!!!!! Keep up the good work!
:cheer::cheer:Winter :dance: Keep up that amazing work!
Just combat on Wedesday this week for me. I walked DS1 to school and back on Monday..that's a good walk. Tomorrow is 'walk to school day' so I may do that too weather permitting.
Have a great weekend everyone...pop back next week :)
Thanks Winter :whip:
Goals? Don't really have any. Maybe I should - it might help!
Well done to CQ & MG for your efforts! :cheer: You guys always motivate me when I read what you're managing to do! :leap:
Ok girls, I'm knackered! It's been a big training week for me so looking forward to w'end
off.
Here was my week:
Mon - Circuit with weights, cardio & boxing
Tues - 10km run on treadmill 61.10min
Wed - Outdoor Circuit with weights, running & lots of pushups & squats + 3.5km hill run with dog
Thurs - 8.5km run with running group + Boxing class in evening
Fri - Outdoor Circuit with boxing, medicine ball exercises and hill runs.
I think I've earned the weekend off! Might do another quick 3.5km run on Sun if I feel up to it.
Hope everyone else is still keeping active and thinking about what their fitness goals are!! :cheer:
Well, DH and DD gave me my mother's day present early - the wii fit plus game. I got so bored with the original wii fit game because you only get limited exercises and the rest unlock after you spend a certain amount of time doing things. With wii fit plus everything is unlocked and more. I've set up a 22 minute yoga workout which is great. I love doing the cycling, great for the butt!
I'm gonna try to go to the gym before or after work, I just don't think in this new job I'll be able to go at lunchtime as easily.
Great present Danni! :cheer:
I did 10 mins on the bike last night, plus some sit ups, push ups and a few arm weights.
I think my back is out though as the sit ups were hurting in the middle of my back and then I got woken up around 5am with back pain and had to take some pain killers
Think I'll skip the sit ups until I can see the physio or chiro...
Going to get into the garden over the weekend, so will be sure to get some major exercise in there! Got Kykuyu (not sure how to spell it!) grass in the backyard which we're slowly pulling out and replacing with garden beds. It can be quite intense exercise!
MG - how's it all going? Hows your pain?
Winter - Nice workout! Have you always been a runner? How did you work up to running? I so wish I could at least jog but I'm so unfit, not to mention my pelvis is still not quite right so don't want to push it yet. But I would say being able to run 5km would be a good goal to have :)
daniellabella - awesome present!
I didn't get a walk in today but did chase DS around the park (Faulkner park for those in Perth). Chased him up and down the steps of the volcano as he kept wanting to go on the slides.
Was naughty and had pizza for dinner, been a tiring couple of days with DD now teething. Hoping to get some exercise in over the weekend.
Hey Eluned, sorry your pelvis is still playing up. You'll be running eventually, I'm going to put 'run 5km' as your goal in the fitness goals thread. I've never, ever been a runner & I wouldn't call myself a runner still. I've only been running really since January and only these longer distances this last month. The one thing that has really helped me is to think about my breathing, get that under control and to run with a group. The group keeps me going because running is a mental game, the physical side of running is much easier than making your head keep your legs moving. I'm also not a very fast runner and if I am starting to get puffed, I drop back a gear, but still running, not walking! Then when I'm ready, I pick the pace up again. And having a goal to where you want to run to is really important for your head too.
PS. I'll come & run with you whenever you're ready!
Eluned - I'm so sorry you're still hurting babe. But do take it easy so you continue to move forward and not backwards. Which state are you in? There is a brilliant website for pelvic instability - google it and it should come up. A friend of mine is on the board for it and gave me some great information recently about pelvic instability and strengthening the core. There is a physiotherapy method called real time ultrasound which is an ultrasound that targets the muscle you have to learn to use. You can see if you are actually engaging it or not instead of guessing. It is used in conjunction with clinical pilates. To strengthen your core properly, you need to work from the inside muscles, out. There is a lady who specialises in pelvic instability and uses real time ultrasound in Essendon - I can get the name if you like.
Awesome present Dan! I am regretting getting rid of my Wii with all the new things out!
Winter, I am in AWE of your running - keep it up!
Nettie - I am sorry to hear about your back. It might be worth getting someone to observe your technique for sit ups and push ups to make sure you're doing them correctly. In all honesty, it is probably the push ups and not the sit ups that hurt.
As for me - I've been doing little bits here and there. I have had a lot of rest time since I had my relapse. D and I have backed right off back and leg work which is disappointing but I know it is a necessity. My arms are getting a massive workout. I am getting disgruntled that my upper body is way out of proportion with my lower body though.
Ive just come back from a weekend away with the dreaded in-laws. I ate too much bad food and drank WAAAAAAY too much. I feel like I've put on a couple of kilo's! BLERG. I did a little workout last night. Got DH to box with me which was just infuriating - he couldn't follow my instructions and so was not a good boxing partner at all! I gave up in the end - I wasn't at all satisfied with my cardio! I then did the resistance stuff D had prescribed for me whilst away... but I forgot to take it with me to where I selected to train so I had to go from memory and forgot a few :( But my arms are sore so that is good!
I also did plenty of swimming. This morning there was a couple of other people doing laps and MIL felt she needed to tell me when I was in the spa that I was kicking ass - overtaking people doing laps (IL's had come to watch DD in the pool). I shrugged her comment off pretending I didn't care... but really I was chuffed and knew I had been overtaking! I am so competative sometimes! The spa really helped relax my back and I've felt brilliant in the respect the last few days. I also did some walking in the water which was odd. It made me realise a few weak areas I will tell physio and D about.
No training for me tonight - I'm having a rest day. Although I should considering I just ate KFC for dinner!
What the the Wii Fit like Danni? Do you use it much?
Hey Eluned, hope your pelvis stabilises soon. It sounds like you are moving around so any movement is great.
Ahhh Winter..The Running Girl :) You are so right about the breathing, it's helped me heaps with Attack and Combat.
MG: Swimming is great. Does is help with your injuries? I did water Mum's when I was pregnant and it was great excersise. I want to box with DH too as I can't get to the Thump classes. DH thinks it's funny , so I think I should push the issue and he can see what I really can do with a pair of gloves on
AFM: I had a kick around with DS1 on the weekend. Had a lovely weekend off, now back into it again with Combat on Wednesday and Attack on Sunday.
Hope everyone else is travelling well.
