Hi Ashlea :hello: Glad you have joined us in here. Yep, I am at Fenix too. I just renewed my membership the other week. I go to three classes a week, Pump on Monday mornings, Combat on Wednesday mornings and Attack on a Sunday.
I use the creche so the AM sessions suit me best. Let me know if you want to meet up, I would love to meet you.

Well, I did Pump yesterday. I am really starting to get into pump. I even do the push ups on my toes now in all the classes I have to push ups :dance:
I found out that the Combat instructor is sick this week, so I am not sure who or what we will be doing on Wednesday, all I know is I am very afraid :lol: Usually the fill in instructors are either the two girls who really really work you to exhaustion, they are crazy!

I decided to wait till Ds was 9mths beforew really getting back into the swing of working out! So now i am trying to walk everyday and I see a personal trainer once a week! Feels so good to be getting active again!

Hi girls i would love to join this group, i am in need of lots of motivation.
I am very over weight but have been working at changing this in last few months, i have lost almost 7kg but have alot too go.
My wedding is in less than 8 weeks and would love to lose another 10kg by then.
I am doing personal training 3 times a week now as when i was doing it twice i was losing motivation between sessions and looking for all excuses in the world to miss a class.
Currently i am struggling with my diet, i eat alot at night and am trying to avoid this very bad habit.

I've been busy setting up Fat Chic Slim (FB group - you are ALL welcome to join) with my partner in crime MG :D.

Eluned - Winter pulled out of the run last weekend as her DD was sick - but she's off doing a 12km city to surf run (think thats the name of it) this weekend :dance:.

Abb - Best thing I can recommend, is join up with us on the FB group, and also sign up to triple w dot calorie king dot com dot au and track your calories. You've got a tight deadline, but with guts and determination you can do this - safely (I've done it -so I'm speaking from experience). You'll honestly need to do one hour of exercise each and every day and limit those calories too. If you do sign up to calorie king they'll encourage you to eat back the calories, that is the one piece of advice I did not follow. I didn't feel hungry, so why would I eat for the sake of it? Give it a shot, and remember that white dress you'll be wearing in a few weeks time.

Boomba - I was actually thinking of you the other day and considering rattling your chain to get you back. You must have received my telepathic vibes lol! Welcome back!

Heather - great to see you're getting into Pump hun - but tell me Attack is still your fave ;).

And welcome onboard Dragoncookie!!! Great to see you hear (and on FCS)!

I looked at the Calorie King website (after having it recommended to me by Evie) but found it very daunting as I couldn't be sure how to put in the products I was eating. For example, I have bircher style muesli with Paris Creek yoghurt in the morning and I couldn't find either of those on there).

Maybe you can show that to me too Leesa when you visit?

Toni - I felt the same when I first looked at calorie king, but you can add your own things; you just need to work out the calorie content first. I am sure Leesa will show you when she visits! And can I just say... I WANNA COME TOO!!!!!! WAH WAH WAH! :rofl:

How is everyone doing?

I had PT this morning. We tried to replicate last weeks session. But I was grumpy, got there early to take it out on the treadmill, D interrupted and annoyed the hell out of me! Then I lost focus but still did alright... until the seated row when I hurt mu shoulder - insert inappropriate curse words here!!!! I've been icing it throughout the day and it still hurts. It has me bummed big time! I will admit I've shed a few tears over it... I'm sure I'll be fine. Can still use my legs!

MG - I hope your shoulder recovers quickly :hug: And yes, keep working that lower body and let your shoulder rest!

I had a pilates class tonight. You might recall me feeling a bit iffy about the new instructor and the general vibe and tonight I think I had my decision to find a new class made for me. They have changed the time of the class to start 15 minutes earlier which means I won't make it in time as I have to wait for DH to get home from work. Plus, they have put up the fees to $19 a class!! I was paying $16 before. So yeah, I'm going to hunt down a new class that's closer to home as well.

Since I'm going to be doing Zumba as well once a week, I've been wondering if it's going to be more economical to get a gym membership. I pay $10 for Zumba. So add pilates to that and I'm paying $26+ for two classes a week. What's a gym membership worth? If it's around the same price it might be better to do that and then I can go to as many classes as I want!

E I just bought mine for 19.95 per week. I think the join fee was $99 on 12 months (waived so didst pay too much attention) and 65 admin fee.

On month to month it was 22.95 weekly and bit higher for everything else.

probably cheaper in the long run and more options!!!

How is your hip Eluned? I've been thinking about that lately...

Gym memberships vary greatly hon. I've paid as little as $20 a week and as much as $60. Most gyms will have a peak and a non-peak fee as well with non-peak being cheaper. Most will have a joining fee but there are often deals around and some will waiver it if you do a trial period first - don't forget to ask about trial periods!

What kind of pilates are you currently doing? Is it reformer or mat based? Gyms usually only offer mat based - very few offer reformer pilates. I'm sure you are aware the two are very different. Most physio's recommend reformer pilates for rehab and hip/back injuries.

But I do agree that a gym membership would be more economical than paying for the two classes! I say go for it!

It's come to the point where I won't even go shopping for clothes as it is so difficult to find something that fits and looks ok :crying: even worse is that I am still wearing some of my maternity clothes :redface:

Time to move forward and actively do something about my weight.

Jump right on in Rose! The more the merrier! Have a read through some of the old posts and you'll find loads of inspiration! The best thing about this thread is that we all come from differing backgrounds with differing levels of fitness and capabilities! We're not all elite athletes but most of us HAVE become addicted to exercise and "The Cause"!

Thanks for that gym info dragoncookie and MG. I'm going to check out a couple of local gyms to see what they offer. Should I be looking out for anything?

MG, my hips are feeling quite good! My only niggle now is my pubic bone. It still hurts to roll over / get out of bed. I aggravated it at pilates last night too. We did side lying leg lifts which I could not really manage more than 2-3. I actually thought I wasn't going to be able to get up again. But once I did and moved on to next exercise, it all felt fine again. Nothing else aggravates my pubic bone, just rolling over and side lying leg lifts/clamshells.

I've been going to a dedicated pilots studio. I started there a few years ago on the reformers to help me overcome a lower back injury. Once I was good with that, I went onto the mat classes. With this new instructor I feel it's not authentic pilates anymore compared to the classes I was doing before having DD. Very disappointed in the direction the studio has gone. Hopefully I can find a good one soon.

Eluned: I got into my gym when they opened, so I got a great deal, only pay $550 a year and it is guaranteed for 3yrs. I also pay yearly. I think if you approach a gym ask them their fees and bargain with them perhaps? Ask them if they have a cheaper rate if you pay upfront and yearly. As you are doing the more expensive classes such as Pilates and Zumba, a gym membership that runs these classes would work out cheaper in the long run.
It's not great to hear about the Pilates studio, hope you find a better one soon. Enjoy Zumba!

Dragoncookie: I was at Combat this morning, and someone walked in who appeared to be getting a tour..was that you? :D Yep, I am on the look out now :lol: If you would like to come to a class with me, let me know. There are lots of different fitness levels in Combat and lots of low options while you are finding your feet.

Leesa: I will never give Attack up, I love it too much ;)

Combat was tough this morning, in a good way :dance: We actually had a combat instructor, he had shadowed our normal instructor a couple of times, he really worked us hard. Didn't seem to have a recovery anywhere in the middle even though he said there was :lol: He mixed it up with Combat 43 and 44 and said at the start he had picked all the hard moves out of them. I believe him!!

Eluned - I'm glad to hear your hip is doing so well! I'm sorry it still aggrevates at night though. For things to look for in the gym; maybe a creche if you want to be able to go during the day. The middle of the day is usually a low-peak period and therefore cheaper. If they have a creche open at the same time, it might be beneficial for you. Also you want access to QUALIFIED instructors at least every 6 weeks for a new program. Somewhere friendly. To be honest, I went to where I am based on both price and my PT. I like my PT so kept going there (although when we met he was working at two other venues as well and now has his own business - so I'm not restricted to this venue). The staff there are friendly and supportive. There are a couple of people whom make an effort to come and talk to me even when they're not working (a lot of them also train there) and there is one who also works at the local supermarket and always makes an effort to talk to DD and I there. It's the people that make a place ;)

Yeah it might have been me! Had no time this morning as I double booked and had to get to work but I saw everyone in combat - it looks like fun!
I am currently negotiating a work form home day, maybe i can make it wednesdsays and come to combat with you. I am a little intimidated about starting at a gym where the vast majority of people already look slim, fit and healthy. Im a poombah with poor eating habits and minimal CV fitness! Am going to change that though. Trying to decide if the $95 fee to participate officially in the 12week transformation challenge is worth it... the potential $5k at the end sure is!

I am about to head over there now, trying to decide whether to go by my own pace on a tready or whether to do Jam as i am too late for combat!
