Unfortunately DS woke up 5 mins before the alarm was due to go off :doh: and was up for about 40 minutes before DH could get him back to sleep, so I missed my walk.
I've now got a sore throat and feel a bit 'thick' iykwim, so no walk in the morning :(
Yeah, I've been an emotional eater for a long time. Although I am much better than I was. I need to make healthier choices for morning tea. I was having For Me yoghurt for ages which is less than 100 cal but it wasn't filling me. I've been norty lately and having a yoghurt which is almost 200 cal and then a crunch bar which is abut 300 cal. So eating the same amount for morn tea as I would for lunch:redface: I need to eat more filling foods with less calories. I had porridge the other weekend and it was awesome, wasn't hungry until about 2pm! But I don't have time to make it before work and so I usually have toast.
I honestly can't explain my eating pattern at the moment. Sometimes I crave foods, but not usually. I think I often eat out of habit. I am finding myself lately questioning if I AM hungry before eating. Especially at afternoon break at work. In my industry (as in yours), we tend to eat when we can because who knows if and when we'll get another break!
I WILL BEAT THIS EATING ISSUE!

No training today for me. I came home from work early because I'm still sick. I feel horrid. I slept for 3 hours this afternoon. I have PT tomorrow so hopefully I will get a good workout. And I have physio tomorrow for my knees. Hopefully it will help. My back is AWESOME with my new meds! So thrilled! I was so skeptical about the panadol osteo but it is slow release and works so much longer. It is AWESOME! I'm getting sleep... well, I'm still waking but that is my cough and not my back! I've bounced back from my relapse on Sat quicker than ever before. I spoke to an anethetist at work today and he said it is a safe dose that I'm on. That it equates to about the same as 4 doses of normal panadol a day... but I'm still worried. When I get my Vit D tested in 3 months, I will get a liver function test as well to make sure it isn't causing too much trouble for me.
Nettie - sorry you didn't get your walk. Is there any chance you can take DS with you? Look after yourself hon.

I think I might do some sewing tonight... I've been promising to finish DD's quilt for 2 weeks and still not done it!

How much water are you drinking each day hun? I kept drinking water thru out the day, and that would actually help fill me up too. Other snacks I fall back on are almonds (best option for nuts), carrot sticks, a protein drink / shake.
I started looking at food as fuel for my body to keep running. Each time you put naughty food in your mouth imagine the damage it is causing your body with salts, sugars and fats etc - even if its just a few extra calories (kind of like putting diesel in a car that should only use premium unleaded - the car doesn't respond so well to it). Thats why I found counting calories worked for me. I had a number limit and I stuck to it.
I hope you start feeling better before your next training session hun. P.S - you should have been a Dr MG ;-)

Hi again girls (I don't think we've got any guys in here - someone correct me if I'm wrong).
I think actually keeping an eye on my daily steps (>10 000 steps daily) is actually working - my size 18 pants (the one's I had to buy after buying my size 20s and then discovering about a week later were too big) are starting to be too big around the waist :dance: Will have to try the size 16s soon - I bought them when I bought the 18s :p so when I got small enough to need them I'd be ready so they're ready in the cupboard :p (I'd probably have fit them sooner if my eating was a bit better :redface: not quite ready to admit exactly what I'm eating for breakfast mainly - but I am eating breakfast so that's a good thing)

Leesa - SMART AR$E! :rofl: BUT, the reason I'm so smart with it is because it's my job! Between nursing and my personal injuries, I've had to learn a lot! Besides, I'd make a lousy Dr - I prefer to treat the person AND the condition...not just the condition!
I had PT today girls. A tad frustrating because we really only worked upper body. We did do some squats and he tried to get me to do a leg lift thing with that which just didn't work. I was too unstable so we dropped that and stuck to the squats and arm raise combo. Can I just say, by half way through my session, my arms were cooked!!! We did so much stuff with my arms, I was struggling! We ended up doing this exercise where I use the bar that is attached to a frame and you use it to do squats. Anyway, I stood and had to bring it from shoulders to above my head. No problem. Then I had to switch to bringing it behind my head (so working triceps)... and I couldn't do it! It was so bloody hard! I have little upper body strength to start with... add in the weight of this and I was just hopeless! :rofl: I was doing bicep curls at one point and couldn't even LIFT the bloody dumbell! Literally! We were in hysterics! It is a first for me and we both found it very amusing. He kept telling me that his aim was for me to not be able to use my arms tomorrow. Yeah, cheers dude!
Physio this afternoon was weird. I think she is peeved because I've not been going to pilates. I have to go back come July. Which is fine. She thinks my right knee is cartlidge and the left is knee cap. Have to strengthen my VMO, hammy's, quads, glute. Yeah, great, now to convince D! I've messaged him and will see next session.
I've booked an extra session for in a couple of weeks. I've got a couple of days off and so we're going to trial a legs and abs session. If I crumble, I've got a couple of days to recover. If I manage, it brings new things we can include in our sessions. That's my plan any way. And it will give me a couple of weeks for my meds to fully kick in. Not long enough for the glucosmine to kick in which is what my physio wants me to start with, but long enough for the panadine osteo to be fully working and my anti-inflamms to take hold again. I'm excited about that session. I'm desperate to do some lower body work. And physio wants me to do more bike and xtrainer which is good. Hopefully I can manage with that. I need to get on my bike and go riding as well I think.
I have a day hike this weekend. I've done the track before and it's not overly challenging. But there is 150 stairs at the end (I'm doing Point Nepean on the penninsula) which are quiet steep. You don't have to use them because there are other tracks... but I want to. One of the girls I'm going with also trains with D and we want to challenge ourselves. I spoke with D about it today to see if he thinks it will be ok for me to so the stairs. He said to just be careful, make sure it isn't slippery, that I'm warm, and to listen to my body... what am I going to do? Get half way up and go "Geez this hurts" and go back down? I DON'T THINK SO! :rofl: But I'm looking forward to the walk. I'll decide about the stairs when I'm there. I'll carry my brace and take my meds. It's a long weekend so if I hurt on Sunday, I've got another 3 days to recover!

Leckert...don't think there are any guys. My Mum always taught me "Breakfast is the most importan meal of the day" and I still stand by it. Tell it to my boys now too. Well done on the size dropping!!
Combat this morning, it was great. The instructor gave me a quick one on one to show me the jump kick and I now get it! I just need to practise, practise, practise. Zumba is on Saturday at 11:30am so will give it a go and then Attack on Sunday.
It was the biggest class in Combat this morning that I had seen. Must be this cold Melbourne weather bringing people indoors.

Well I did it....my first Zumba class. It was great fun. Packed though so it made it hard to see the instructor. They had a big release on Thursday night at the gym and apparently they had 90people for the class, they had to split it up!
Today was probably around 60-70 so still too many I think. I had fun, although concentrating a little too hard to get the moves right (and trying not to bump into anyone) so I didn't get the full work out. Can see how you would get a good work out once you can get the moves right. The class was a very strange mix today....lot's of older ladies, some guys with their GF's, 3 people who would have easily been in their 70's I reckon. It's a good sign that Zumba is for everyone.
I will go to Attack in the morning and stick to my Combat and Attack routine and try Zumba again in a couple of weeks, hopefully by then the class size should have settled down or they may have more session times to spread the load.
Zumba reminded me of that latin dancing..can't think of it :doh: It was huge in the 90's I think when they released a song and the video clip was of people latin dancing.

loved my hike. About 15Km all up. Suitably tired right now. Back another time to update.
I promised I'd come back and fill you in - so here I am!
My friends and I headed off about 0830 yesterday morning. By the time we got there I was so stiff and sore in my legs (I drove)! It was a wee difficult to get moving plus it was super cold there. I was wearing a singlet, short sleeve shirt, rugby top, gortex jacket, baseball cap, and gloves and I was STILL cold!!!! I contemplated adding an extra shirt but wanted to keep it in the car in case we got rained on. It rained most of the trip down and the clouds were bad! We headed off and walked the short (about a Km?) to the quarantine station and by that time I was slightly warmer. We spent far too long walking around there (considering there was little information available and next to no buildings were open). But we found out some interesting things along the way and then headed off for the Fort. I estimated it was about 6Km to the Fort... and it probably was from the car park... the second car park. It's about 1.5Km from where we parked to the second car park so we probably walked about 7Km I guess...
I remember the walk from last year as being somewhat easy. This year it was a struggle at times because my legs were so stiff. Last year the weather was gorgeous. This year it was about 9 degrees when we arrived and wouldn't have climbed much higher than that throughout the day. I actually only took my gortex off on a couple of occassions (although I did get sweaty and had to change my shirt when I got back to the car!). One of the girls had trained with D the day before and done a million squats so was struggling to walk anyway (I will kill him when I see him! He knew we were going hiking!) but she really struggled with any steps or inclines. I was ok just slow because of stiffness. And I was getting out of breath easily - damn chest infection! But we took it easy and took a load of photo's along the way. 300 to be precise! I had my SLR and my friend took my pocket camera... so we were both snapping away!
We arrived at the park at 1030. Set off about 1040. We arrived at the tip of the park (Fort Nepean) about 1330. Considering the duration we spent at the wuarantine station and other stops along the way for photo's, I don't think we did too bad for time. We had a brief lunch break at the Fort before looking around down there, taking more photo's, and then me convincing the girls we WERE doing the 150 stairs. If you don't know what I'm talking about... it's 150 stairs down to the beach (except you can't access the beach). It was were the Engine House was during the Fort's occupancy. It is a STEEP gradient but the stairs aren't high, they are fairly shallow. During the operational stages of the Fort, it was the only way down to that area. I wanted to do them last time but my friend piked. This time I wasn't taking no for an answer so poor C had to suck it up and deal with her pain. I have photo's of me doing the climb. Surprisingly it didn't burn as much as I anticipated but I did get puffed and tired. I could have easily done another 150 though!!! Mind you, had the girls not been so CHICKEN, I would have liked to have done them a couple of times! Even dropped my bag and (had I been wearing gym pants instead of my jeans) turned it into a PT routine! BUT, the rain clouds were looming (and had been threatening us all day!) and we wanted to avoid being rained on. Plus we knew it was a long walk back!
We opted to take the road back down as C was really hurting and we figured it would be easier on her legs. We did take a detour via the beach where that PM went missing. We spent ages there until the rain clouds came chasing us again! Then we hightailed it out of there! Despite all the rain on the way and out at sea, we only got a slight drizzle on the way back and that was in the last couple of Km.
In total, I estimated we did about 15Km return. At times I was sore in the hip but held up well. I did cramp on the way home but I figure that was just being in the car. We did a small stretch session before we got in the car to come home. Some guys parked down from us were watching like we were oddballs! We got back to the car and started stripping off our jackets and shirts (down to singlets) and putting on fresh shirts... then started stretching in the car park! :rofl: all that was missing was the pushups and situps! :rofl:
This morning I woke with a sore left glute (as always) and did some major work with my nobbly ball. And stretched. My quads are super tight - more so in my left. I've been massively tired all day and felt the urge to nap this afternoon. But mostly my body has been good! Some minor stiffness in my legs and a slight sore shoulder from my pack (I gather). But after dinner tonight I jumped on my treadmill and did 25 minutes. My heart rate monitor has crapped itself so I have no idea about how many calories I'm burning at the moment... but I'm feeling good back and hip wise. Now to shrink my tummy and really get control of my diet!
Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday and am looking forward to doing Wilson's Prom later in the year!!!

Well I have been MIA but for a good reason..I have been making a concerted effort to carve out regular exercise time, at least 45 min a day 6 - 7 days a week, some of your comments about exercise reducing the grumpiness factor really resonated and I thought I would give it a go! So its been early in the morning or late in the day during the week and during the daytime on weekends when DH home...a cut to the computer time all round (which is pretty scary because I reckon I would usually spend those hours on the computer doing god knows what!!) I definitely feel much better within myself and am starting to loose cms although nothing much on the scale yet! Which probably has a bit to do with eating choices more than anything else..case in point sticky date pudding last night for dessert!!!!! DH has def noticed the difference each time I get a bit snarky he says do you need to go the gym and work that off hehe!

Heather - I love the sound of Zumba (heck in the early days of breastfeeding DD overnight I found myself nearly buying the DVDs whilst watching the infomercial over and over again!!). Did you burn many calories in the classes? Are you thinking of Lambada?
C-Q - thanks for the tips re the new Pump class (pages ago) I am still settling into picking the right weights for the right muscle group. My instructor is great with instruction about appropriate load but I am not very quick at changing weights between songs! I have found the shoulder track really disjointed with the push ups, weight changeovers throughout the song- anyone else find this?
Well the gym doesnt open til 900 today so until then I best get the washing and dishes in order. Might try to get to 1030 RPM class although I imagine it will be packed! Sorry for anyone I have missed. Happy holiday to all!

Chryalis - I don't bother buying the powder protein so much anymore, just in the health food aisle of most supermarkets there is usually a variety to choose from. I usually prefer 'Protein Revival' which is really filling, or drink the Musashi Protein Drinks. They come in those tetra packs. FYI the Musashi ones are a bit more sugary in taste. Enjoy RPM - its a brilliant ride eh?
Muscle and fat weigh exactly the same, its just that muscle takes up less space than fat - hence the reason you've seen the reduction in cm's and not overall kgs. So keep doing what you are doing (minus the sticky date lol) and you will see that number reduce in no time :-)
I actually went out into the 'gym' (still lacking name lol) and did RPM last night. It was so great to not have to focus on anyone else but myself. It was an awesome ride :-)
Fantastic MG, that sounds like the best day. Wilson's Prom when you go there is just beautiful. You can hike to 'squeaky beach' named as when you walk on it the sand squeaks. I grea up down that way and had school camps and the odd summer holiday to Wilson's Prom.
chrysalis...Yes! Lambada..now I remember. A bit like that. It will burn calories once I get the hang of it. I think I will just throw one in every now and again and stick to Attack and Combat.
I did Attack yesterday and really enjoyed it. Zumba is good fun, Attack is more of a 'just do it' kinda of thing, not sure if that makes sense??
leesa: When I do RPM I tend to get lost in the ride (listening to what I am supposed to be doing as well), it's great to be able to swich off on the bike and just go for it :)
