Suzanne, it's awful having sweet cravings, i can kinda understand that side of things... i'm not a mum or b/feeding so i can't relate to the other side of things sorry!

I have a terrible sweet tooth when it comes to chocolate and it drives me up the wall... i'm on a diet to try and lose 15kilos before i fall pregnant and it's hard at night after dinner, i'm used to eating a chocolate or 2 or 3... but lately i have cut it out completely. if you go cold turkey you will find after about a week of not having it you don't crave it anymore... instead, after dinner, i have a cup of tea and that fills me up and takes the cravings away... try that maybe?? (i know it's not the same!).

I used to eat chocolate EVERY day & come home from work starving and the first thing i would eat was chocolate! Now, i come home, have a diet softdrink (that helps with cravings) and after dinner, a cup of tea and i've lost 4kgs so far...
good luck i know it's not easy ....xxx

    HI Suzanne,

I was the same as you - breastfeeding and just couldn't seem to lose anything!!!

It was stagnant for a long time, but the breastfeeding did start to drop off the kgs.
Before I fell pg I was 56kgs, the day I gave borth I was 98kgs (yes, I know!!! A lot of it was fluid, but still... I ate really well, and even lost weight in my 1st trimester from all of the throwing up from m/s!)
When I left the hospital, I was 73, and then was 71kgs for about 3 months after.
I did find that drinking 2Lt water a day helped me drop a lot, and I ate big bowls of steamed vegetables for lunch - except for potato & pumpkin, you can eat as much vegies as you like!!!
Having the bigger meal at lunch allowed me to serve myself a smaller meal at dinner, because I wasn't as hungry.
I also went to weight watchers when Luke was about 7 months old just to get rid of the rest.
I only got back down to 60kgs (originally I was 56), but I figured 4kgs after having a baby... I could live with that!!

    Good Luck, sweetie xxx

    Love Holly

If you crave something sweet at night time try some of the weight watchers frozen puddings. I've been doing weight watchers since March and have lost 10kilos just by changing the way i eat.

Renstar - I am in a similar position to you - trying to lose weight before I get pregnant, but cold turkey is really hard... My husband works nights so being home alone I find it very difficult not to eat! It's good to hear that it can be done though...I must keep up the fight

    Hi Suzanne,

I think most women can relate to what it is like to suffer from sweet cravings. I found that after having DS the best way for me to get back to me pre-pg weight was to do everything in moderation (including indulging my cravings for junk food). My most important focus was obviously on DS, but I tried to fit in walks around the block when I could and when I had cravings for junk food I just tried to eat them in smaller portions than usual so they weren't too 'bad'.

As hard as it sounds, the best thing to do is just give yourself time and not be too hard on yourself. If you are eating a relitively balanced diet and are doing some light exercise a couple of times a week then eventually you will start to see changes.

    Congratulations on you 5th bub!
