I always find deciding what I will allow myself to eat and drink and when I will do it helps - if I think about it beforehand. Usually, I stay away from nibblies completely if we are there for a meal. Usually the nibblies are served as everyone is arriving so they aren't that hard to avoid because I just spend time catching up with people and I always start with water to drink. Once I am not thirsty or feeling like something to drink then I can have something different.

I struggle with my weight too and I find if I decide beforehand what I will do and how I will manage it then I am far more successful at sticking to a diet. I also know that if I am going to a few different things (like BBQs) if I don't have something one night, there is usually a chance to have it later.

Remember food choices are about one choice at a time. You can't make blanket decisions and expect it to work - you have to make a choice about each food and ask yourself if it is worth it.

Having said that, if you are strict and stick to your plan, let your hair down on Christmas day.

Pointers to be aware of though is that sugar and salt are addictive and if you have gotten yourself out of the habit of having them, if you start eating lots, you may find it hard to stop and may find it harder to get back into not having them all the time again. Limit sugar especially and choose fruit as an alternative to dessert if available.

Sounds like you have done a great job and you have a lot to be proud of. Good luck with everything over Christmas and have a great time with your family!
