    Loosing cm but not kilos

    HI everyone

Ive never posted here but now im on the loosing weight journey it seemes like the perfect place to ask a question that has been bothering me.

I started 6 weeks ago excercising and cutting out crap and diest coke Ive lost only 2 kilos but 23cm. I still have 29cm to go but was wandering why im still75 kg. will my weight come down even if I loose my other cms. I used to be 60 kg and put on 18kgs over the past 2 years. I really just want to loose 10kilos but I dont seem to budge. I do cardio weight traing and swimming and tennis am I doing enough??

The main thing is cm, if you are losing cm and not kgs then more than likely you are gaining muscle mass (a good thing!) which weighs more than fat, which is why you'd be losing cm (toning your body) but not losing weight. So I'd be extremely happy with that. It could also be because you are doing a lot of muscle building activities, weight training, tennis, swimming.

BTW I think you've done an AMAZING job losing those cm.

it's a great thing to be losing cms as it means you are replacing fat with muscle, and ultimately this means you will keep the weight off a lot better. well done, you should be really proud of yourself!

I gained weight and lost cm's when i started out at the gym which was a little hard until i decided to ditch the scales they are not my friend. hehe

But you would definately be gaining muscle.

I don't own scales. I personally think that having a set at home is worse than useless. They only demoralise. Keep up with the measurements and by noticing how your clothes fit... that is the best indicator. As all the girls have said muscle weighs more than fat. The more muscle you have the more they will "eat up" the fat with their energy needs. keep up the good work! BTW if you really need to weigh yourself ask your doctor if you can do it when you visit... that's what i do... they are more likely to be accurate too.

Thanks heaps guys you are so right about scales being the demoraliser. Im going to put them up high and forget about those evil things. I just want to fit back into my size 12's and then Ill work on fitting comfortably back into my size 10s and 11s. One step at a time I say.

    Thanks for the boost
