hey ladies,
it's been quiet in here hey. Well i'm at panic stations. Did a casual BSL check (I had GD last PG) last night after dinner and got a 10!!! :o So I'm pretty much cr@pping myself. Off to the doc this arvo who will probably make me do the 2 hour fasting test I guess. I knew I was high risk... but oh geez. I have enuff dietary restrictions, I don't need any more  sorry I'm just in wallow mode atm. Either way, I need to lose more weight & get fit. I worked out to get a healthy BMI i need to lose about 2-3kg. To get my waistline under 80cm (there's a big challenge) I need to lose about 8.5kg (that's when it was last under 80). This just sux. I can't run cos of my prolapse, I already have HEAPS of dietary restrictions... I need diabetes like a hole in the head.
anyways... BBL, wish me luck :( hope you're all having a better week than me.

Good luck Belfie - I hope it is just a false reading and nothing to worry about
I did my weigh in today and lost another 1.1kg this week so 2.5kg all up - I think the WW is paying dividends as I wasn't losing anything before. Only 12.5 to go now
-
Good job on the loss Nai!! I was thinking of looking into lite'n'easy or something like that; do you do WW online? Or actually go to the meetings and stuff?
Goodluck Belfie, i too hope it was an incorrect reading!!
-
Oh shucks Belfie ... I hope it was a dud test too.
Nai - Congratulations on losing another 1.1kg. WW helped me the first time also. ATM I find it difficult with both kids and a fussy husband to just cook something that we can ALL eat and does not break the point-bank. But WW is great.
I picked up about 200g over the weekend  That is my downfall ... weekends. I do so much during the week that in my mind I believe that I deserve that extra piece of peppermint tart *drool* that choccie DH bought him that he did not eat
Anywhoo ...I don't think 200g is much, I'll just work it off this week. Stil not going to the gym. Have to let my back rest ... it's not really feeling better. Hurts like hell when I get up after bending over for diaper changes and baths. :( Bugger old age
Have a fat-free week everyone!!!
-
Hi everyone
Belfie - Sorry to hear about your blood sugar. I hope that everything goes fine at the dr. Big hugs.
Nai - Nice loss - good job!!
Well feeling a lot better now than the other day. Have stuck to my required calories and good with the exercise. Had futsal tonight and got 6 goals! I was so proud. And I felt like I could just run and run. So yay!
Not expecting a big loss tomorrow as my scale peeks this week seem to say that maybe a plateau or small loss. It is hard to tell though until you step on the scales. But heres hoping.
Will check in tomorrow. See you all then and good luck for weigh-in!

hey guys, thanks heaps for the hugs & well wishes. Well I did fasting BSL this morning - 6.3... still not great :( but lunchtime was looking groovy at 5.8. Went to my doc, turned out they'd never been told I had GD! So anyway ,I've gotta fasting blood test at docs tomorrow am, cross your fingers for me. If it comes back "grey" i've gotta do the 2 hour glucose challenge. I'm feeling SOOOOOooo motivated, i've been very good today (aside from panicking & crying lol) but I'm still determined to lose that weight. Truly I am just so petrified. Often when I go out NOW there's only one thing on the menu i can CURRENTLY eat. Add diabetes to that, oh my, I don't think I'd hardly ever be able to eat out again :crying: :(
On the bright side tho, doc did say that sometimes just being a bit sick can cause an elevated BSL (not that I think I'm sick..? but maybe hopefully). So I'm mostly determined (in my rational brain). Hubby and I both weighed in today so that's a good start. And I went for a good walk. Oh and I'll start tracking in WW again too. It's great hearing about everyone doing well with that, really motivates me.
Oh and ironically I've got my first two "gee you've lost heaps of weight" compliments over the weekend... gotta remember to enjoy those.

Hi all,
It has been quiet in here. I thought I'd have pages to read to catch up. Have been away for 3 days in Port, funeral was all day yesterday, DH wanted to stay again last night as he was sooo tired but I just wanted to get back to my own bed, (and bathroom) maybe this is TMI but seriously, why would anyone put a bathroom next to a kitchen, when everybody is gathering in this tiny house in the kitchen, how is anybody supposed to be able to actually go when you're paranoid everyone is listening.
Was really worried was going to have put on at least half a kilo, having had other people control my meals and all. Plus Hungry Jacks on t he way up, Blech, that grilled chicken burger of theres which is there only 'healthy' option, is revolting. Anyhow, could have blown me over, jumped on the scales this morning and have lose a kilo. Must have been all that not sleeping burning calories, because other than 5 minutes of step ups on a REALLY dangerous park bench, and carrying a baby around/standing ALL day, I did No Excercise.
Belfie - Hopefully it settles down for you. But, I have rely's who are diabetic and it's not as restrictive as you might think. You will still be able to eat out easily, and a lot of the principles are the same as what you would be doing now anyway trying to lose weight!
Nai - Congrats on another loss. My MIL lost HEAPS of weight on weight watchers so it must work, it's been around for yonks.
Nadine - Yea, 200g is what a glass of water weighs so stay positive.
-
Sas - sorry to hear you were at a funeral  In regards to the diabetes, well my Dad has it and I had it while I was pregnant - so I know what it's like. My issue is that I already can't eat HEAPS of foods, so the combination of the two my current restrictions plus the diabetes is what's a big downer for me. That and the fact I remember the hell it was last year with GD and I don't want to go back there. But fingers crossed my results will be ok.
I hope everyone get's great results today! I've been fasting for 12 hours... might have to go weigh tehehe.
-
Krysalyss, Sas and Blackduckies, I"m going to need your measurements from last week again as I mustn't have saved them when I put them on the spreadsheet and I had already deleted the PM"s thinking that they were all collated on the spreadsheet! I feel so bad for asking you to send them again.
Weight watchers is great - I lost over 20kg on it just before my wedding back in 1999. I am doing it again online, not strictly though where I write it down all the time, but I keep track in my head. I have been going really well - have lost 5kg for the month!!! Which is the goal I set myself so I really hope that I can keep it up till OCtober when SIL gets married LOL.
Belfie, the result at night could have been due to having just eaten, and you may not have washed your hands thoroughly enough kwim? When I had to do my BSL for 2wks iwth my last pg if I didn't have my hands absolutely clean it could alter the result by several points. I really hope you dont have diabetes
-
Awesome job on the loss trill!! I might check out weight watchers i think, i need to kick start my weightloss a little more!!
Gain for me this week, but i was expecting it ggrr
When will you get your results Belfie?
-
I am just doing the WW by myself. I lost 12kg years ago on it so I know the drill. My neighbour is doing the meetings so I just look at all her notes ;) I find that writing everything down is the key for me as it keeps me honest and I don't sneak little treats.
-
I think I have to give WW a go again :( Not the meetings, money is a bit tight, but on my own. Just tracking what I am eating and checking my portions. Not doing great, taking LOADS of stress and then I eat way to much. Also it's cold, so I'm constantly checking the cupbords/fridge for someting to eat and lowering my standards everytime  That 200g glass of water is now three glasses of water.
Sas - about the funeral. And :clap for the one kilo ;)
Belfie - My dad's a diabetic too and I can only imagine how scared and panicked you are. Hopefully your dr is right and it's just a minor hick-up. If not, you'll deal with it then. No point in stressing about someting that might not be.
Trillian - I have not send you through my measurements yet, uhmmmm have no excuse LOL
-
Nadine - why don't you try calorie king first? it is free and you may find it is just as good as WW. I actually find it is better for me. :)
Well I lost 0.9kg. So that is fine. I knew I wouldn't hit the magic 1kg this week because of my sneak peeks. Today I was feeling a bit low (like every tuesday) and headed to McDs for a coffee and a donut. At the last minute I changed to the mini-mint slice and skinny capp. Thank god because I looked up the difference when I got home and was shocked. mini slice - 6.7g of fat and 100 cal. donut - 32g of fat (almost a days worth for me) and 500 cal. OMG!!!!
So anyway crisis averted and feeling better - gotta love caffeine.
Had the best game of futsal last night - 6 goals! So good as the rest of my team is really really good and I always feel a bit like I am letting the team down. But very happy with that. :) Plus felt like I could just run and run. Even wanted to go for a jog afterwards - weird hey?
Trill - no worries. Will do now. :)
-
Really??? I checked it out and it asked me which payment option I want .. can't afford a payment option LOLOLOLOL
-
Try the Aussie one - I use it and it is definitely free. Although there is a software version available to download and I think that costs money.
-
i'm curious about CK too ... is it definitely free?
Well I've done my fasting glucose this morning, results in 2 days. Thanks heaps for all the support it helps. Oh and yes I am totally paranoid about clean clean hands before testing. I wish I wasn't, then I could blame it! I did my own fasting BSL this morning and it's still in the "at risk but not definitely diabetic" range... so we'll see. But I've got my wah wah out of my system and feeling much more... what will be, will be. Sometimes the wait/worry is the worst bit. Once you know what's happening, then you can get on and deal with it. Did my weight this mornign .5 kg lighter but I think that's cos i was fasting lol, dunno if I should send it or not! (Plus I forgot to send last week's, oops!).
krysalyss - that's a great loss! And omg on the difference in calories! I was at Ikea today and managed to go the healthier option - salmon, peas, carrots. But it was foul! Lol at least I tried!
Nadine216 - Re ww, I reckon using a spreadsheet or something would be just as good for me too... I just need to track what I eat. Whether that's using WW or not I guess it's what works for each person. I'm about to start weaning so my points will go down, that's a shame!
-
Ah HA!! Aussie rules ;) Thank you. I'll try them
