Just putting this down before I forget:
11/15kms walk/jog
27/40kms bike ride
Hi guys. Just a quick one. I am in a shocking mood as I got rejected from a job I was applying for and put on 0.5kg. So very very grumpy right now. About to have a coffee and have counted cals for today. Going to go to the gym a bit later and jump on the bike. Hopefully DS wants to go swimming this afternoon too. Anyway I am off - stomp stomp stomp.............
APPLETREE _ You're a Woman Warrior my friend!!! Look at you go. I'm so impressed with your determination & motivation! Go Girl! Chinese New Year is tomorrow, so today is NYE. Everything is shut down & very quiet - bizarre for bustling Qingdao. There is a Spring Festival that goes for 2 weeks though (which is so odd because it's Winter!), so that's why the girls are on school holidays. They go back on 14 Feb. We are going to Beijing on Friday for a 4 night city-break & to do some market shopping & just to break up the holidays. Alan is on holidays as well, so it was perfect time. & because of Spring Festival the airline released special tickets where you fly First Class for Economy prices! First time ever in anythign other than ecomony! Pity it's only an hour long!
KRYSALYSS _ Oh no, you stomp away, I would feel exactly the same as you. 0.5kg is better than 1kg though, plus it's easier to get off. Go take your frustration out on the bike & swim some laps this afternoon. You'll feel better for it. The job wasn't meant to be, there's a better one right around the corner!
Ugh, I haven't gone for a walk at all this week. Monday and Tuesday were so hot and today is so horribly humid. I don't like the heat, in case you couldn't tell already. Failing the 25km challenge, might postpone mine until next week.
appletree - Well done! Doing an awesome job :)
Krys - hope another job pops up soon for you.
Jayne - Enjoy Beijing! And first class, lucky thing :)
Thanks guys. I feel a bit better now. After a coffee I will feel even better. I don't actually need a job seeing as I am still doing my PhD but it was a really cool temporary job for later in the year. Oh well. It wasn't meant to be. Had a late night last night due to work so don't feel up to cycling today but I am going to anyway. Hopefully I don't fall of the seat LOL.
Pac - I know what you mean about the heat. If I don't do outside stuff in the cool it is impossible. Is there a pool you could go to instead?
Apple - wow you are almost through the challenge already! Great stuff!
Jayne - your holiday sounds amazing! and woo hoo for the seat upgrade!
Traveller - I got a gain this week too. It sucks! But back on the horse. Hope you can find something that you like outside the gym.
Raupe - chocolate - drool!
ZF - hope your partner feels better soon. You could always just give him a bucket.
Hi guys, just a quicky havnt done much this week, had real sore shin muscles after netball last week, not sure if its just stretched or something more serious :( cant jog and tried to do a bit of skipping, but hurts too much so have just done a couple of walks and the abs and fitball.... but lost 1/2kg this week so im happy :) did break my healthy eating and had a couple of choc covered licorice logs this week... but it was yumo ;)
Pac - my family lives in Melb and say its been unbearable.. dont blame you for not wanting to go out in it...
Apple - you are flying through your challenge, well done
everyone else well done and must say everyones exercise is a great motivator...
Challenge update:
13/15kms walk/jog
34/40kms bike ride
Woohoo, am definitely going to make it to the end of the challenge tomorrow, plus i have pilates + zumba tonight as mum is back from france and DF has promised he will be home in time for work.
Onemore- i used to get sore shins when i started exercising again, i think stretching them out really helped, i also kept off them for a bit and just did things i knew wouldn't be too painful. I also switched from running on the grass to running on the road which helped a little, but i don't think that will help you very much!
Krysalyss- that is such a shame about the job!! Glad you are feeling better about it, its never nice to be rejected! What is your Phd in?
PRMG- i feel your pain with the heat, there is no way i would be going out in it either, unless it was to walk along the beach! It is boiling here, no way would i have been able to do the challenge without the air-conditioned gym!
Wow Jayne- first class to Beijing! How exciting!! I only wish.. I have never been in anything other than economy either, and haven't been anywhere exciting in years. I LOVE to travel though, have a big big big trip planned for christmas time this year which i am really really looking forward to!
Feeling very very pleased with myself today, i tried on some of my work suits this morning (i go back to work 28th of Feb), and they all fit and some are even a bit loose! Woohoo! There was one which used to be so tight i couldn't even get the zip all the way up, and it did up with ease and had a couple of cm's spare! Yay yay yay!! So looking forward to doing some shopping for new work clothes in the coming months :)
Also, i started a blog, feel free to check it out and follow me, the link is in my sig. I realised i am not being honest about food, so am taking a photo of everything that goes into my mouth for the week so i can see it all together at once :)
Krys - The pool is no good for me - I can't really swim :hide: I can swim to save myself, but as far as swimming laps goes, I tend to do a weird stroke/doggy paddle. So pools for me is more cooling off and a bit of fun (provided I can touch the bottom!)
Onemore - Well done on the 1/2 kg!
Appletree - I've been thinking of doing the same thing with regards to a blog and food. I'll be interested to see how it works for you. Yay for the suit fitting!!!! Awesome job :)
It's actually cooler here today so will try and go for a walk this evening, because naturally it's raining now it's cooler!!!!!!!
Hey guys, I have lost 0.9kg this week which is so exciting but so frustrating all at the same time. I am only 100g off what I was the week before Christmas. Grrrr. I just wish I could have broken even - you know?
I did 2km on the elliptical cross trainer today so I'm 3/15km Walking/Jogging Challenge. Pretty pathetic compared to most of you though. Lol
That's great Jayne, but I understand what you mean about wanting to break even. Hope you smash it in next weigh-in!
I did a 3.45km walk, really steamy out there. I was following a girl walking a dog and she kept looking back, so she must have been feeling a bit stalked so I changed route and didn't get the extra km that I normally do. I've eaten sultana bran for breakfast, an English muffin with cream cheese for lunch and had a cruskit for a snack. We're having meatballs for dinner.
I added up the kms I walked for January and covered 44.2km. December I didn't record anything, but November I covered 78.57kms. I walked nearly every day. The weather hasn't helped since then, but I really need to get back into it.
LOL @ you being the stalker!!! Too funny.
Oh my goodness, 78km in November is insane!! Do you use a pedometer? You just clip it on your pants & away you go right? I'm thinking of trying to invest in one of those. I'd like to know how much ground I cover in a day.
We go to Beijing tomorrow so I'm going to try, try, try not to over-indulge there. Cos if I do, I only have 2 days back in Qingdao before weigh-day to try get well passed my weight I was before Christmas.
Oooh I love cruskits. Do you put marg & vegemite on them? OOoh I miss cruskits.
I use runkeeper to track where I walk. I find it to be really easy to use. And blergh to vegemite on cruskits! Blergh to vegemite in general :hide: Have a ball in Beijing!
ZF and i got out for a walk today, i think it was just under 5km. It was quite muggy and threatening to rain but we got back without getting wet.
I got my bike out again this week, ah love the wind against my face as i ride along. I like riding in the mornings but can only go out when DH is on his days off so he can look after DD. I don't think a kids trailer would be any good around here- too hilly- so i have to wait til she is big enough for a baby bike seat. i reckon she will love it though.
We finally went for a bike ride with the wii ride and it's so so so so much fun!!!!!!! DD just kept laughing and sticking her head out from under DH's arm to look back at me, making it a bit awkward for him, but this is definitely going to be a common thing we're going to do.
Oooh listen to you ladies talking bout bike riding. I'm definitely having to get myself a bike in China when the weather warms up.
HOTI _ I had a bike trailer for my 2 girls & it was absolutely awesome! It's not as heavy as you might imagine pulling it along & the kiddies have so much fun in there! I had one where they can sit side-by-side & then when Jess got big enough to ride on her own, Claudia would just sit in the middle of it. Was awesome.
Hi guys!
Personals first:
Apple: I do wildlife behaviour. Its been a long haul. Can't wait to finish!
Pac - I don't do laps either. But when DS and I go it is usually for an hour or so, so I just keep kicking my legs around (the water is only up to my thighs so not deep) and moving my arms and we usually get a kickboard or a noodle. I just figure if I keep my body moving the water resistance is doing something. :) Nice work on the bike riding!
Jayne - have an awesome time in Beijing! It must be cold there at this time of year!
Hot1: sounds like you are very motivated!
Well AFM I am feeling very tired at the moment (Pre-AF) but I did go for a jog/walk this morning so happy with that. Have counted for the day and that usually sets me up well to stick to it. Checked the scales this morning and I think I stay on track till Monday I should have a loss this week.
Have a great day!
Sorry I haven't been around girls!
I have walked a couple of days this week but I don't get a lot of time to do it without the kids... which means taking the pram. It doesn't do my pelvis any good and had a shocking night because of it last night. Ah well, using WW is working a treat though :) Check out my ticker!! I have been a bit bad and not been tracking like I should but I feel much "thinner" ;) already!!
We're heading away for the weekend, so I best go pack etc. I have to head out to get new wheels on the car shortly so better get cracking!
Was good getting out for a walk with HotI, am aiming for 60k's for the month, which could be a stretch with not knowing whats happening with DP but i might take the girls for a walk near his mums monday after we drop him at the hospital, try and fit in some exercise... maybe i can walk the girls from flemington to RMH... wonder how far it is walking.
Hi guys! I had a rest day as DH, DS and I went into the city for DH's birthday. Still ate well though. We had sushi for lunch, a skinny coffee, a nashi pear. And I had a couple of dutch lollies in the afternoon which is a real luxury for me as it is hard to get the ones I really like. We had a vege burger for dinner and I had a small sweet for dessert. So I didn't exercise but should still be ok. Am going to the gym later to do some cycling and have counted for today so should be good. Feeling ok except I have a cold coming I think. DS started coughing last night and is not feeling too good.
Hope you are all good!
Oh cr@p I am not looking forward to tomorrow! Ate like nothing else today, I am stressed out and unhappy so have been eating and eating :( fingers crossed for me!
My work out Saturday was filling and carrying sand bags cos we had flooding in town and workout today was moving pickets and other stuff out of our shed so we can clean up all the mud cos it got flooded on Saturday! I much prefer working exercise than just exercise exercise IYKWIM
However i've probably negated the effects of both by eating dodgy stuff cos i'm preparing for my interview and i hate interviews. oh well!
 appltree. Is everything ok? Or is it "everyday stress"? You can pm me any time! :comfort:
I've been eating cr*p lately, too. Gotta get motivated again! ...Apparently fitting into a wedding dress isn't motivating enough! Somebody help me!
Anyone got any motivational speeches for me?
 appletree
HotI - Good luck with the interview. I suck at interviews!
Raupe - You're almost half way hun and you WILL fit into your dream dress!
Krys - Oh yum....you had me drooling over that post.
Enchanted - hope you had a nice time away.
ZF - Thinking of you today hun
AFM - Pathetic really. I've totally lost it. I need to get back on track in a BIG way. Got on the scales this morning, admittedly in full clothes (usually just get on in my short and singlet PJs) and apparently I've gained 3kgs. Bull ****. But there is the niggle in the back of my mind, that my eating has been all over the place and I've not exercised like I should. So this week is going to be gorgeous beautiful weather and I will be walking. Starting right now! BYE!!!!
ETA - Walk done!
My eating has been crap over the weekend as well. We are still in Beijing - heading home tomrorow to Qingdao. On Saturday night I had an icecream from Cold Stone Creamery for dinner!!! WTF! I think I have lost my mojo again. Why did I do that? lol
Mind you, we are walking soooooooooo much & I really haven't indulged in any other junk food. We are eating really healthy foods at lunch & dinner time so I'm hoping it didn't do too much damage.
xx
Hotl, how did your interview go? Hope your house dries out nice and quick, the flooding is just crazy!
Thanks everyone, I am just really angry with DF as we need to move out by the 28th of Feb and he is being completely unrealistic about where we are going to move too. We live in the most beautiful house, absolutely stunning and he thinks we pay too much rent already, so he only wants to look at cheaper options (I should point out that my salary is approaching double his yet he can't seem to acknowledge this and bases affordability on his own salary by itself) and then he decides that a house is too much work, we have to go smaller, and definately no garden as he can't be bothered looking after it anymore. Oh, and where we live is apparently really cr@p and he hates it so he wants to move completely out of the area so we lose our trusted childcare, dd won't get to see her friends anymore, my gym membership which I have paid 12 months upfront for, not to mention move away from my family, the only ones who ever look after the kids, as well as all of my friends from mothers group that I have made here!
This weekend he went looking at places by himself while I took dd to a party and he put in an application for a ****e box of a unit in an old 'art deco' building 20m away from a railway line but in a suburb near his parents house. I went and had a look from the outside and I am just so upset! This is not how I envisioned raising our children :( yes, it's closer to the city so I spend less time traveling but I am going to be working part time, that's not my biggest priority! But, I decided maybe it would be ok for the short term as I wanted to buy somewhere in the next 9-12 months, but then he said no, this is for a minimum of 2 years because he doesn't want to go to all the effort of moving again so soon!
I just can't get him to see sense here, I feel like he just wants the bare minimum from everything, but I am after the full version. We just seem to be on such different paths in life, and have such different expectations that I am seriously considering wether now might be the time we should decide to split and each go in the direction that would make us happy? Am I being a bit over dramatic though?? Is it really that bad? I just feel like these are fundamental differences, we aren't just arguing over a house or a unit, it's his whole approach to life that I don't want to be a part of. I also can't stand how selfish and immature he is being, this isn't where I wanted to be at this point in my life.
Oh appletree, hun!!!! What a crossroads you are at. I don't think you are overreacting, you are at total opposite ends of the scale on this one. I wish I had some advice for you, all I can hope is that something works out really soon for you
Jayne - Sounds like you've eaten really well, plus with walking everywhere, I wouldn't worry about the icecream. Hope you indulge in the memory of it!
I'm under my cal count for the day, so had half a packet of microwave popcorn as a treat. Yeah....another freaking treat :wall:
Ok guys, who is up for a race?
5k walk- try to beat my time of 47:52m, if you are pushing a pram you can have an 8 minute headstart
10k bike ride- try to beat my time of 17:03m, watch out though because I gave that one everything I had!
Multiple chances allowed! I'll be trying to beat my times this week too :)
Yah I've lost 1.5kgs in the last few weeks.
Did the equivalent of 2 hours of exercise yesterday, incl 15 min walk each way to the gym, some cardio and then an hour long Zumba class. I felt great!
Hi guys! Am happy as I lost 700g this week. I was hoping for a bit more but overall I am happy, especially as hopefully I have gained a bit of muscle and have AF.
Apple - so sorry to hear about what is happening. I hope it all gets figured out for the best
I am definitely going to try and beat your 10km cycling time. Will have to wait to Thursday probably but you are on!
Hope everyone who has gone off track a bit finds their mojo again.
:( Oh appletree... We were in a similar situation a while ago (minus having to raise kids there). We're saving to buy, too. Our rent went up twice in a year and now the price is beyond a joke.
Originally we had planned (3 years ago *rolls eyes*) to move back in with his parents, so we could save enough money for the deposit in one year. But then his parents split and are still going through the divorce (and still living in the same house!!) so we could't bare the thought of living in this poisonous environment. So we moved into this unit, which we absolutely LOVE! It is close to a river that goes down to the beach (where I walk everyday ;)) in a beautiful, quiet suburb. But like I said, the rent went up twice in a year, so we honestly thought about moving somewhere cheaper :(. It is ridiculous how much we spent on rent for a unit! So we argued. And argued. There were tears (mostly mine ). But in the end we decided that we want to live somewhere where we felt comfortable and 'at home'. You can't put a price on that. Yes, it is going to take longer to save for the house, but at least we are not unhappy whilst living 'in limbo'. Because what if something delays reaching our goal (pregnancy, losing job, needing a new car)? I sure don't wanna be stuck in a unit I hate! So to cut a long story short: we compromised! I got to keep my beautiful unit, but we wrote up a tight (!) budget, so we could still successfully save. As DF likes to say: As tight as a frogs butthole! (apparently it's watertight...) So yeah, some days are really hard (money wise), but all that is forgotten when I sit in my beautiful garden and walk along the beautiful river. If we manage to stick to the budget, we will reach our goal in July and can start looking for a house! :D
So babe, I really do hope you can sort it out! Maybe explain to him that this isn't just about the house, but about the home you have there (sorry if I sound like the guy from "The Castle"). You need to be somewhere where you can feel save (especially when you are raising a family). Plus you don't want to have to uproot your kids twice in a few years (the move to the unit and then the move to the new house). That means finding a new daycare/school twice and finding new friends twice and finding a new gym twice etc ... (you get the drift).
I really hope you can sort it out soon. :comfort:
Hey ladies i'm so sorry i haven't been around, we have a fair bit happening here and it's just all been a little crazy.
I NEED to get back into it though as OMG stayed at MIL's and boy did we eat some crap.. (stupid stress :wall:) so back home and back into it.
Am hoping HotI and i can get back into walking this week if she's free and might try putting my iPhone to good use and listening to some music on the bike for a bit late at night.
Will weigh myself tomorrow morning and confirm the damage :(
Oh no ZF! Not you too! :shakehead: I hope things look up for you, too.
I think what we all need is a nice squishy group hug!!
:grouphug:
Pmsl, ZF! I think your old people exercise DVD is playing at the gym on the tvs channel! I have the funniest image of you sitting in a chair following along!! Hahahahahahahaha
Ok, who can beat my 5k bike ride time of 7:24m?? I hope you can as I was checking my emails and posting this while doing it! Lol
Or, beat my 3k walk of 31:04, 5 minute headstart if you are pushing a pram!
Not a big walk but a walk all the same today, just me and my girls.
Today it was therapeutic, i put runkeeper on my phone, had P!NK playing and i pushed myself, i prob could have done more but mentally i'm so damn tired and DD2 was in my bed last night.
I did it in just under 30min and i THINK it normally takes us about 45 ??? (HotI is that right)
Then i took the girls to the library and for the very first time DD1 asked to join the other kids, didn't run away and was happy singing and dancing..
So tonight we are having chicken rissoles and salad and plenty of water for me today, skin feels like cr@p
Just got on the scales (after lunch and breakfast :wall:) and am back up to 96.9 :wall:
I have a huge container of salad in my fridge, that I made up on the weekend, with at least 8 different ingredients in it, with no dressing. This is what I grab a bowl of when I feel peckish, it is also what I have with my protein for each meal.
I also have some of those diet type shake powders in the cupboard for when I know I should eat something but the thought of actually eating food makes me want to throw up. When I get home from the gym I grab one of those, throw in some extra protein powder and make it with milk instead of water, it helps to get some food back into me but nothing heavy that will make me feel ill.
Sopdet, how do you keep your salad fresh? I can't seem to even keep my lettuce by itself last for more than a few days so am constantly at the shops buying stuff!
ZF- great time with your walk, how far did you go?
Raupe- thanks so much for your advice! Can i get you to come and fight my battle for me? Sounds like you have it all down pat now and you can just do a repeat of your arguments for my DF! LOL. Your place sounds amazing! You are so so lucky! I wish we could find somewhere as nice sounding as that! Thankfully, DF called the real estate and told them that he wasn't interested anymore, i think it took his mum telling him how awful it was to convince him though! I have applied for another unit which i haven't even seen yet, but it has an indoor swimming pool, spa, gym and tennis courts, as well as being about 20 mins from work for me and still very close to his parents house, so fingers crossed we get it! I am not actually seeing it till tomorrow morning, but am crossing everything that we get it based on photos. Also, i am off to look at a nice house now that is in our local area so if the other one doesn't pan out then we have a back up!
Krysallys- well done on the 700g loss! That is so good, and very motivating for me to see others losing weight :)
Even though i had a slight gain this week, i am still pretty happy because i scored the best dress in witchery yesterday for when i go back to work! So excited and so please with myself for it not only fitting, but looking really good on :) I think i might wear it to the inspection tomorrow morning so the agent thinks i am hot and gives me the place, at a discount of course! LOL.
If I've not made it up into a salad, then I have everything in tupperware fridgesmart containers. When I go shopping I try to get mine from the markets, where I ask when the things were picked, how they were grown etc, I try to go for organic as much as possible.
I only make up enough salad for about 3 or 4 days, make sure the things that go yukky in the salads (like bean sprouts and tomatoes) are kept separately and I add them when I put the salad into the bowl.
At the moment the salad has:
Portabello mushrooms, slided
Zucchini, sliced
Cucumber, sliced
Carrots, diced
Lettuce, torn not cut as it doesn't go brown if it is torn
Celery, sliced/diced 2cm long
Snow peas, whole
and on the side, tomato and bean sprouts.
Will be interesting to see the menu on the 12wbt.
Nice salad sopdet.. yummmm
Our was walk was 2.9k's i am going to keep track of all the walks this month and see if we can get ourselves a nice BIG total, while DP is off and i am driving into town nearly every day to get his paper i am thinking i might just use that time and go for a 30min walk :)
HotI are you up for a little more walking if i can sneak away? do our long walk once or twice a week and then maybe sneak in some smaller ones :)
I am really really looking forward to getting back into it, today honestly felt GREAT.. now if only i could do it kid free.. imagine the time i could cut off then.
Hello:hello: Do you mind if I join you?
I need to get back in shape ASAP because the longer I leave it the harder it's going to be
I've joined a gym so now I need to make it a habit again. I did abs today but not for as long as I wanted and about 20 mins on the cross-trainer. Cross-trainer and legs tomorrow.
I need to change my eating habits too. As Sopdet pointed out in another thread I need to eat more earlier in the day. At the moment I have coffee for breakfast and nothing else until mid-morning so I need to start eating breakfast. I also need to stop eating the boy's left-overs.
I haven't dared to measure myself....
Welcome Onyx!!!
I'm back in the game girls - I knocked over 3km on the Elliptical this morning!
BBL my parents are Skyping me!
