    * I want to be able to look at photos of myself without cringing.
    * I don't want to be wearing my gutsucking underwear (the ones that come under my breasts!!) in Summer!
    * I want to be fit and healthy. (this one should probably be first )

    Ditto!!!

If I put a lot of effort into down sizing than I won't ttc bub #4. I think transforming myself will be a celebration for the end of my child bearing time.

    1. Because I know I can and I feel and look better for it
    2. Because I don't want to look pregnant unless I am pregnant
    3. Because I'd love to get into size 12 jeans again (it's been 15 years)
    4. Because I want to have more energy and not be so tired at the end of the day
    5. Because I need to increase fitness, strengthen core and eat healthily for when we get pg again
    6. Because I want to be in a weight range, that means if I gain 10-20kg in pregnancy, I won't weigh so much it limits my choices in where/how I can birth
    7. Because according to my wizz-bang scales, I have 42% body fat and that's about 20% too much (I think)
    8. Because I suspect I have sleep apnea too
    9. Because I want to look good naked
    10. Because I'd love to go blow $1000 on fantastic clothes in smaller sizes that make me look divine (assuming I had the $1000 anyway, but that could be a goal)

I also want to learn to lose weight so I keep it off, not lose it for 3 months, then gain it back in 5 weeks. I don't want to diet anymore, I just want to eat right and exercise more. I'd also like to learn not to comfort eat.

    Good topic

I'm not currently trying ... I should, but I'm not. I SHOULD ... but am not

I have about 12-14 kg to loose and HEAPS of work in the gym to get my arse back to what it was before kids. I'm also purely vanity driven. Sure it's going to be good for my health and all that snot ... BUT I actually just want to wear summer dresses and shorts, and strappy tops. I have a beautiful back, but don't feel I can show it off, because I have like six pairs of love handels and that icky back/arm fat under your underarms .. you know what I'm talking about.

I should just get moving and start .. right? Yeah, says the woman who just snogged down a packet of jelly babies *sigh*

Yup. I was only lamenting mine today as I saw myself wearing only my singlet. It'd be nice to hang out in only a BF singlet in public, but not this summer I'm afraid.

    1. I don't want to be described as "you know, the big woman with the short hair".

    2. I don't want to be the fat sister.

    3. I want to look good in my clothes again.

    4. I don't want to be repulsed looking in the mirror anymore.

What gave me the motivation to start though is a school reunion in October .

To help my depression over not having another baby. At least looking fantastic will be something to show off instead of showing of the beautiful baby I was hoping to be showing off instead.
To be able to DTD again without being worried what DH will think of the wobbly bits. I wont even let him massage me anymore as I hate him feeling my saddle bags and back pads.
I also have two wardrobes of gorgeous clothes I could never fit into. It would be lovely to fit into them again.

Oh, I hear you hun!! My 'back fat' and flabby upper arms are my biggest problem. As I said before, my lower body is in pretty average, but acceptable shape (let's just not think about the post-baby belly that is pretty much beyond repair!), it's my upper body that makes me cry every time I see a photo of myself looking like a peanut perched on a giant's shoulders...
And I just undid 15 minutes of push-ups and arm exercises by scarfing down an entire packet of chocolate chips... gah!! It's so hard to get motivated, and to STAY motivated...
I think my key is going to be looking at pretty dresses for the Britney concert and aiming to go strapless by then. If that sequin dress I'm bidding on doesn't motivate me, I honestly don't think anything ever will!!

maby put the dress somewhere where you can see it everyday so that when you look at it you are reminded of why you are losing weight and when those cravings come go and look at the dress and allow yourself to feel what you are going to feel when you are able to fit into that dress

So that I can run around with the kids,
so that I can be a healthy weight,
so that I can look in the mirror and like what I see
so that I can buy clothes that make me feel attractive
so that I can be a good role model for my daughters
so that I can look hot for my school reunion in October

I want to lose weight because the more weight I lose, the easier it will be to get more active and boost my health simply by exercising more and pumping more oxygen through my system. I'm tired of feeling tired all the time. I want to feel strong and capable instead. I want to enjoy and not dread the sensation of moving around in my body.

I want to get my body into the best possible shape so I can heal quickly and without complications when I have surgery in December. From there I want to keep eating a low-fat high-veg diet for as many years as it takes to make sure cancer never ever comes back.

Marydean, your treatment involved the evil prednisone as well, didn't it?

I'm joining this thread tonight because I really want a baby and the IVF isn't helping at the moment. I need to regan a sense of myself, not this blob I have become through meds and depressive eating. We are taking a TTC break until next year and I'm going to use the time to redefine my body so that it can heal and 2010 will be our year.

I'm stopping myself Me and my way of handling stress, me and the little me-devil on my shoulder saying: "Eat that piece of cake, it's going to make you feel SOOOO goooooood" And then kicking the little me-angel in the nads so he can't speak up.

I know the support here is awesome, it really is.

it is true that you can be your own worse enemy and sometimes you are when you are stressed instead of going for that cake go for a walk or run and get the strees out that way
trust me you come back feeling so much better

Well done to all wanting to and are currently trying to lose weight.

I want to lose weight so i feel pretty again. I am happier when i am skinnier. I want to wear short dresses again.

But atm.... i want my soon to be big boobs to have a skinny waist

It has been a tough journey for me... taking forever to shed the 20kgs. Only 5kgs to go. Those damn last 5kgs which i have been carrying around for about 6 months won't budge.

But i am more determined to lose it in time for my boob op on the 16th of October.

I will get rid of you...you hear...gone, finito. I've had enough!

I should just stop making excuses ... I mean sure a ice-cream is nice, but fitting into my summer dresses would be soooooooo much better. AND I have to start before I have 15kg to lose, kwim??

Thank I think I need to meditate about this during the weekend and make a choice and STICK WITH IT
