Best vacuum cleaner?

Another dyson owner here.

We love ours. The house we just moved out of had horrible shag carpet that everything got stuck in the fibres of. The dyson was fantastic for picking up everything. The day we bought it, I'd just finished vacuuming with my old vacuum and couldn't wait to try the dyson and the amount of stuff it got out of my carpet that the other vacuum missed was crazy!

Another Dyson fan. We've got the DC19 (barrel) from about 6 years ago. Love it, it's brilliant. I've got my eye on their new one though and gave DH the thumbs up to buy me a cleaning appliance for Xmas That one is about $950 though so I'm not sure Santa will be quite that generous.

We have had dysons for about 12 years (2 in that time) and I recently got a Miele. I'm so happy with it - we have dogs and hard floors and carpets and got the dog and cat one and it is so much better than my old Dyson was.

ATM I have a Kirby and hate it if it didn't cost me so much I'd throw it out. Thought I was upgrading.

I do have an upright dyson and love love love it.. I really wish the Kirby wasn't expected to last 20 odd years cause I would get a dyson today if it died.

Do you need the animal or allergy models if you have no pets or carpet?

I haven't researched it or anything but I'd say that the stronger suction etc is also fantastic for general dust and not just pet hair Our cats barely shed so animal hair isn't the biggest problem for us either. You can clean couches and cars so don't let the no carpet put you off.

We have a normal dyson (no bells & whistles) & I love that it doesn't leave that dusty smell behind it.

Biggest tip, get all the tools you can with the model you choose. An extra $50 now, can save a couple of $100's later when you realise you do want the dusting wand etc

I'm going to check out Miele and Dyson this arvo I think. We have a Miele front loader washing machine and I love it! But used a friends Dyson and love it too.

I think now with Dyson the allergy bit does not matter, the names really just refer to how many attachments. The Animal pro has the most, even though really some of them are not animal related at all.

I'm a Dyson girl too. I've had two over the past 10 years - a secondhand DC 07, and now a DC 39 allergy. They have improved greatly over the years and I really do find them to be the best - especially for allergy sufferers or people with pets. They are also really easy to manoeuver so better for your back xx

We have an upright dyson, it's about 2yrs old now and I love it. It had to be repaired due to faulty parts, which we sent the vacuum to dyson they fixed it and returned it all free of charge, I would never go back to a cheaper one, or a barrel one. Best bonus is that all the kids love to vacuum for me since getting this one, even the husband loves vacuuming now
