A friend has one but she said that the washing part was good but she didn't really like the dryer. I think that was the case. I know she likes one bit but not the other. If you want I can find out but will take a few days as they are in Cambodia for about 6 months.
I have an upright which I really like and DD has a front loader which she likes.
I think you will be pushing to get a good double under $1000.00. If you have ducted heating I would just set up a clothes horse over a duct. I put the clothes on a horse in front of the heater to nearly dry and then put them through the dryer to finish off. I had the washing out today but it didn't fully dry so it need to go on the clothes horse to finish drying.
That's one thing I don't like about winter, the clothes not drying.

Yeh i heard combos arent that good as well. But Im soo sick of the clothes not only being uncleaned and very very wet but also not drying during winter.
Damnz I checked the prices out at they aint at all LOL but i dont think we have room for 2 machines.

know any good washing machines under $500. I think i prefer to top loader after my crappy front loader!

Theres just so many options out there its doing my head in.
I totally wrecked my washing machine now because I was trying to take the filter out and now it doesnt even wash the 3 clothes and the laundry room got flooded!!!!!

I bought it in May 2002 though if that is any help? Will let you know later, I have to move it so will see what is written on the washer.
It is a 7 kg I think, and 6kg dryer, although I can fit my doonah cover, my fitted sheet and the pillow cases in there and they dry perfectly well.
eta: ooh you poor chicken!! Well, My washer I think was about $700-$800 and the dryer was about $400 I think form memory.
Oh yeah, the dryer was the one in the series that had push buttons on it - the smaller ones didnt. the washer and the dryer are both electronic, the first size in the range that had the buttons and not dials if that helps.

I've got an LG combo, 7kg/4kg. It's ok. Love it as a washer.. and it dries ok, but I'm not impressed that it uses so much water to dry and seems to take longer to dry than my mum's 'normal' drier. We only got a combo coz we're renting and it's just easier re space.
I try not to use the dryer much anyway... which was another reason we went combo, coz I just don't use it that much. But I have found it very handy in wet weather like we've just had. Never ending drizzle! LOL. So my routine became sorting out my loads into what I can wash & just hang up inside, and what I can wash/dry (mostly socks & undies & the odd towel or something). And I must admit I love it doing washing & drying all at once. I get it to do it overnight too so a load is washed & dried by morning!
I think mine was only about $1300 5 years ago? I'd say prices would have come down now, and the technology improved in that time too. There wasn't a great deal of choice when I got mine either, so I don't know how it compares to newer ones or other brands.
If you plan on doing a lot of drying tho, it can be a pain that it's a combo, coz it takes up the machine. Like... if you want to be drying at the same time as putting another load of washing on, you just can't .. obviously But for emergency drying it's very handy to have.

Im just wondering. I might be cheaper to get a washing machine and a dryer seperately. Are we allowed to stack the two machines on top of each other???
We wont be having any clean clothes for a few weeks thats for sure LOL I tried handwashing my towels and man i was soo tired afterwards.
