The Shannon Lush method is to use a cheapo shampoo and tread on it a lot in a bath. If you hang it in a U shape then it is less likely to clump.

Oooh, thanks every one!
I would have thought that washing it in the machine would ruin the feathers in it....But it makes it easier that I can wash it at home!! Hopefully it will fit in the machine....if not then I will do it in the bath.
