How to get burnt rice from the bottom of pots?

I have burned rice and our good pot seems to be ruined. The bottom is all black where the burnt rice has stuck to it.

Anyone know how to get it off? DH wants to just get new pots, but there has to be an easier way.

I feel really guilty - I've done it to 3 pots in the past 3 months - I've been cooking rice for years and NEVER done that before.

Soak the pants off it - overnight at least. Then ditch the water, and cover the base with a 50-50 bicarb and borax mix. Let that sit for 10 minutes, then scour it like the blazes. Should get you through!

I was going to say - put it in the sink to soak, then nag your husband about it.... let me know if that works because it never has for me

Put a little bit of water in the bottom (at least enough to cover the burnt bit) and add a BIG couple of squirts of ammonia. Put it in a couple of plastic bags and and tie them up to keep the odour in. Leave it for at least 24 hours (I put mine outside) then it should be all lifted or need a gentle scrub to get the stubborn bits off.

I completely swear by this and I do the same with my oven trays. I put them in a rubbish bag and leave them and they come out looking brand new!!

Give it a go it works.
