I managed to find a bag of about 20 microfibre clothes for $5 from a local $2 shop. I think they were so cheap because they were 2nd's so they were all microfibre but different sizes and some of them weren't square. I use a new one each time I want to wipe a bench or anything and then just chuck them in the wash. They are brilliant

Oooh I lurve my Vileda! (in fact when i saw the thread title I thought I'd have to come in & post how much I love them, how sad is that )

If they've only been in use a little while there's a couple of things you can do; you can zap them in the microwave for a minute or so to steam them & kill a few germs that way. Or if they are a bit manky (my kids leave them bundled in a wet heap so they get a bit whiffy, YK?) I soak them in the sink in vinegar & they come up good again.
Once they've been kicking around for a bit i chuck them in the washing machine with other towels / cleaning rags & then use them for the bathroom & general cleaning. They are actually good for quite a few washes, they're really tough.

ETA - I could never go back to using chux; I tried once & they just don't feel substantial enough & I ended up going through them so quickly. And then they tear & get holes & stuff, and you can't wash & re-use them - eurgh.

I just buy the material ones and throw them in the wash. Nothing too exciting or expensive here lol

I get the el cheapo microfibre ones from foodland, and soak them in napisan prior to washing, I change them probably 1-3 times a week, depending on how much they're used and whether they get rinsed out properly by persons other than myself.

When I was using the Velida ones I would microwave them every night. Every couple of days I would soak the in some boiling water with bleach or pinoclean. Like you I was ony using them to wipe benches & spills. Now I'm using Some I made out of flannelette material & just throw them in the wash when they've been used (I have heaps so that I wouldn't run out)

Mine arent that expensive... i think they are coles brand, but they are yellow cloths (i think they are microfibre ones) that i just put in the washing machine when they need a wash. But i do also use the chux rolls youre talking about, 100 sheets for $5 from reject shop. The yellow one is for using around the sink and kitchen bench and i use the blue chux ones for everything else. From wiping the kids hands and faces to spills and cleaning the house and they just go straight in the bin after use.
