Yep! Once a monthmy washing machine has a drum clean function, I run it on 95 degrees with about 1/4 scoop of detergent. If it didn't have that function is probably just do a long hot wash with an empty machine.
I read something recently where someone mentioned cleaning their washing machine. Now, I might be a terrible cleaner, but its never crossed my mind to clean it. Now that I think of it it makes sense, I mean its gotta get dirty getting all the clothes clean right?
Anyway, do you clean yours and if you do, how? I figure its something I should do sometime....

Yep I do it when I remember! Cup of vinegar, splash of eucalyptus oil, and an empty long hot wash!
I do every few months. I use those little packets from the supermarket that are for washing your machine. The same as I do for my dishwasher.
Yep. I wipe out the rubber seals and do a long hot wash with detergent and a cup of vinegar in the rinse part.
Yep as above, but only a couple of times a year. I also take off the softener dispenser (not that I use is, but it's there) in my top loader and wipe out the centre bit/remove hair/socks/misc.
I have done it a few times... cup of vinegar and a scoop of bicarb
I was actually really surprised when I heard that people clean their washing lines, (as in WTF?? LOL) but I figured I'd give it a go, turns out my clothes line gets extremely dirty!
Yep. Really hot wash with vinegar here too, as well as rinsing out the power dispenser thingy.
I've never washed my washing line. I seriously doubt it ever goes long enough without something on it to get dirty!
I cleaned the family one when I was home at xmas. It had never been done before & it was feral.
I do mine every couple of months. I do a hot wash with vinegar.
I do mine weekly but it does get a thrashing LOL
Mainly a wipe out and the filter, I only do the how wash and vinegar once a month![]()
that reminds me to do mine again.
vinegar aye? I normally do bleach and euca oil but will try that.
my repair guy comments on how dirty my machine gets
it does a lot of washing
How much vinegar would you use to clean it? Mine has this past week started to leave marks on our washing as well as black/brown flakes of stuff so think it needs a clean
My DS is a mechanic and his clothes are feral so I clean my washing machine ever 2-3 weeks. It's a front loader, I put a teaspoon of oxy action in the detergent dispenser and use the drum clean function. Afterwards, I do the same thing with vinegar just to make sure it's clean lol.
I do 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of bicarb on a hot wash. Sometimes I leave it to soak overnight but that depends on how gross the filter is. I have to do it when DH is not around as he thinks it is a waste of water.
I also wipe down the clothes line every few months. It is amazing how disgusting it can get.
My front loader tells me to clean it every 40 loads and keeps telling me after every load until I do it. It has it's own clean cycle. It us still a fairly new machine so I have not added anything to it yet.
Would the bi-carb and vinegar be enough to de-scale the machine??
