If he is in bed alone, he always manages to somehow turn the doona upside down, and back to front. I have to have it the right way up, so I'll move it around until I'm happy, even if it wakes him
Wow, I'm not the only one!! I don't know how they manage to do that!

In summer, when there are two of us in there - I change the bed twice a week - if there are the white sheets on and the cat has decided the bed is where she wants to sleep (like she doesn't have enough beds in this place to sleep - as well as a multitude of chairs!) then every couple of days (she's black)
We have the cat issue here too! Our cat is also black and sheds like crazy. I can't believe how many sleeping spots she has claimed: DS's cot, snugglebed, our bed, the spare bed, the couch, not to mention...she has her own bed! I've thrown out so many pillows because she's covered them in fur beyond the powers of washing and the lint brush. We are constantly washing linen in this house because of the black fur - it is everywhere

Huh! I never used to make my bed - as a kid, my parents weren't the type to care, and as a teen, my bed was a loft up under the ceiling so it was near impossible to make!

When I moved out, and in with DH, I started, as he is obsessive about it, won't leave the house. So now I always do! I never thought about it really, but I do straighten the doona out, and arrange the pillows and cushions, in the morning. Whoever thinks of it first does it.

On the weekneds, I leave everything off to air while the bedding is changed. DH always puts on the new sheets etc., which is a bit of a game, tends to be 30 minute job, with the cat having a ball in the midst of it all lol!

I aim to make them everyday... I agree, it feels "right" to have them done.... it can affect the state of mind. I'm not too hard on myself when it doesn't get done... but I can't remember ever thinking "Gee i wish I didn't make those bed today... what a waste" making them always comes with a feel good factor. Even if 3yo DS jumps all over his. I know that if someone pops over I won't be embarrassed. Plus I find that making them usually turns up dirty and lost items of clothing... that missing sock for example... so it does serve a practical purpose I guess.

    I'm not a bed-maker.

Although I do straighten everything up before I hop into bed at night! is that weird?!
Yes! I don't know why I insist on doing it before bed but can't be bothered in the morning!

DP used to make it every morning (he's last out) but he stopped as my pregnancy advanced and my multiple pillows (esp massive body pillow) started to take over the bed. He doesn't like handling what he calls my 'arse pillows' ie I used them between my legs!

I'm so pedantic I even make the bed when we go away and stay in hotels...
LOL - Yep I am this crazy too - I reckon that if the bed is made I tend to keep the place tidy. We make the bed every day too, when DS has his morning nap I shower, make the beds etc. My DH mocks me as ages ago he was helping me and I said "pull it tight" referring to the quilt cover so it was nice and smooth and now our catch-cry when making the bed is "Pull it tight" LMAO

I love the day we change the sheets - there is nothing better than climbing into a freshly made bed with fresh smelling linen, if I was rich and had a daily cleaner I would get the bed changed every day hahahahahahahaha

I make DD's bed everyday... and again after she has her nap.
As for our bed I do make it most days but every now and then I don't bother with it... Like today, DH isn't here, expecting no visitors so I just shut the door so I didn't have to see in there at all!

You know it wasn't until reading this that I realised I hardly ever make the bed anymore!

I used to make my bed fastidiously each day, but since moving in with DH 5 years ago... well.. lets say a lot of my compulsive cleaning habits and rituals have eased heheh

I do straighten the bed before I get in at night tho, because I'm a fidgeter and our doona ends up twisted and lumpy and I can't sleep if it's not straight hahaha.

I know this is an old thread, but...

I always used to make the bed every day. I used to just use a doona without a flat sheet, so it was very quick and easy to do. But when DH & I moved in together, he insisted that the bed should be aired each day and preferably exposed to sunlight. So, now we fold the flat sheet and doona down to the foot of the bed each morning. It took a lot of getting used to for me as I like a made bed.

We only make the bed if we are expecting a visitor who is likely to go into that room (otherwise the door is kept shut, so they're not going to see it).
