DS was coughing and i went upstairs to settle him, only to find he has vomited for the FIRST TIME EVER in his life.... In his bed.
Now hes in my bed, clean and sleeping, he didnt even seem to realise what had happened.. he just asked for a hug...
But now his mattress... stinks.. i removed the excess vomit, sorry to be gross
And cleaned it with some soap and a towel without adding any excess water ... its a foam mattress and i dont want it to mould etc.
What can i do? to get the smell gone?
and to actually remove the vomit form the foam? any ideas. Its raining here so i only hope tomorrow its suddenly super hot so i can put it out on the verandah for the day
Is there something i could spray it with. Should i cover it in bi carb?
Maybe stick it out in the rain? It'll wash it really well.
Then you might have to keep him in your bed til its dry coz I think the rain likes us at the moment
Do you have an undercover area you can dry it?
There is an antibacterial, natural spray near the febreeze in woolies. I think it's called fab air with an orange trigger. it was the only thing that used to get DD's reflux vomit smell out of her rocker! HTH
ah crap! first thing. Go to Kmart & but a mattress protector. They sell single bed ones which are not the PVC backed ones they are a PUL backed one (same as used in MCN) for $20. Maybe even buy 2. Every bed int his house has a cover on the mattress!
As for the mattress now.... I would try hosing the effected area. Place it so the water can drain from foam & then get DH to help wring it out best you can. Maybe try rolling it up with towels/newspaper anything that will help absorb the water & stand on it etc.
try & get as much water out of it as possible. Then yep, cover it & work in Bi carb soda.
Your bed.... Feather doona... sorry no suggestions there, machine wash & then drier maybe? But Aren't those things meant to be cleaned "professionally"?
Further prevention. LOTS OF TOWELS over anything he is sitting laying on & a big bowl/bucket close by!
