Getting rid of car oil on the driveway

right found my book (Fix It by Scott McGregor) with the info in it - has 3 different options

a) kitty litter - I nearly had it right -I think I didn't follow it exactly because it was on the driveway out the front of the house accessible to the street.

try a bag of kitty litter and an old brick. Cover the stain with kitty litter and then grind it into a fine powder with the brick. Let it sit and soak up the oil for a day or two, then sweep it up.

b) commercial driveway or engine degreaser

[If the stain remains,] try a commercial driveway cleaner or even some engine degreaser, but always try these chemicals on a discreet area of your concrete first in case they discolour it.

c) eucalyptus oil

Pour undiluted eucalyptus oil directly onto the stain and let it sit for a while to dissolve the oily marks, before scrubbing the area clean with warm soapy water

(most grease & tyre tracks marks can be removed with driveway cleaning products found in both hardware and motor accessory shops)

hope these help - with the kitty litter I didn't bother to grind it up more and it still worked, it might have been a reason why I needed to re-apply but I also only left it on for a couple of hours too.

I also use sawdust - found this out by accident - just spread it out on the stain and using a stiff broom, broom it in almost like "rubbing" it in.

I recall Dad using good old Dynamo and adding a bit of water and scrubbing with a strong brush (wire or outdoor broom) - massive stains too. Worked a treat!
