De cluttering also does your mind at the same time.

So i now have 4 bags ready to rubbish and for op shop-garage sale..

    I find this so easy.

ANOTHER TIP- for the next 6 months make it a goal to not bring anymore rubbish or things you dont need into your home.

Wow. You know, I hate clutter, but I have never ever thought to declutter my kitchen drawers. I'm doing it tomorrow if DD lets me

I can't believe I have what we refer to as a "crap cupboard" in our kitchen, how did that even happen?
I'm just going to empty the whole thing into the bin.

    Funny how that happens!

I started to go back through my already packed boxes yesterday to condence it and cull some more. I have some books for the op shop that were a good read first time around but I know I will never read again.

I also cleaned up my scrapbooking paper box and I am amazed that just by organising it all by size and throwing the shabby peices in the recycling I was able to fit it into half of the space used previously.

Great thread, it has motivated me to keep packing and culling (even though it is slightly off topic)

Very cool suggestion! I think I had seen a similar show before, I think I will go for three bags, rubbish, give away/salvos/freecycle and EBAY.

I definitely need to de clutter and clean, we haven't really sorted out stuff since moving and I have done bits and pieces but could do better, pity I am working, hopefully I can get started this afternoon after work and when the roast is in the oven!!

Thanks Didispunk! You have helped me heaps. I started today and have already covered a queen bed with stuff for a garage sale! And that was only the kitchen.....
I read yesterday that you should only keep things that are either loved, beautiful or useful and that has been my motto this morning as I sort and throw!

You know what I found effective to help me declutter - a series on Foxtel called "Hoarders". I couldn't watch a full episode without getting up & throwing stuff out! I knew I was/am in danger of being a hoarder when I was recognising the excuses, especially identifying with the emotional attachment ('I need to keep this because it reminds me of...'). They are really hard bonds to break.

So now I look at things & ask 'have I seen/used this in the last 6 months?'. If I hesitate, say 'no', or if my response is a bit too irrational (and emotional), it has to go.

DH said to me, and I really have to remember this when I declutter, "everything you throw out is making room for the baby". I could have emptied the whole house with that line!!

    Great thread girls.

Today's top of the list is to declutter the office. Might aim to do one room properly a week.

Would love to hear more tips they are great.

Thanks for the ones about the pop out baskets, must say constantly sorting through kids clothes gets very tedious.

New tip, have clear plastic containers for

    Makeup,
    Kids bath toys
    Percriptions
    Cleaning products

They are inexpensive and easy to stack and oragnise you things.

    in Linen Press

You only need 2 extra sheets sets per bed in the house. The others you don't actually need, get rid of them.

Bathroom products such as moiturisers etc.. only keep 6 months, mascara 6 months,
    Perfume etc.. lasts 3 years.

    More to come!
