How do you get rid of geckos

This is something my dad does best, getting rid of gheckos! My parents have had to replace 2 split system air cons because of them. So certiainly not cheap. Each night my dad goes around the exterior of the house and sprays dettol on them, and around the doors so they can't come in. It seems to be working as he hasn't seen any for quite a few months now.

im wondering the same, i have one amd it wont budge, i try washing it and scrubbing but wont go away.

i'm on the anti-gecko side too - but only the Asian ones. I can cope with the native ones but the Asian ones are sooo noisy and are a pest.

I loved my geckos... they eat mosquitos as well. We used to have around 10 in our house most nights in Brissy, but yes I had to do a poo clean up in the mornings.

I've never noticed their poo outside at all - or maybe I have but thought it was something else. I love them because they eat all the bugs that hang around the back door - we've even got some with two tails LOL. You could try getting some door sealing adhesive tape too because they could get through quite a small gap and the foam will help.

Send them to me. I love chi-chas. They're such helpful little guys, I love watching them munching up all the insects in summer. They're just about the only thing I miss about the tropics.

because this house is so old and dodgie nothing lines up and that made the door not shut right. cant win

There's an article in the Sunday Mail today about the Asian gecko and it has a picture (I'm assuming thats the Asian one) and there's a survey on the Qld Museum site and also info about them too. But the asian ones are the noisy ones so I know I've got them.

As a South Australian, born and bred, this thread is really interesting to me!
I had no idea that they were a problem. Can't imagine them being noisy??? (Maybe we only have the native ones here) and ours are boring brown/grey here, not pretty.

they sure are very noisy at times esp n hot summer nights they dont like the cold but as soon as the heat arrives out they come we had a hot spell last week and out they came

I have them - but I am on the gekkos side! I love them - they eat all the mozzies and bugs...

Get a cat. I'm always shooing our cats away from them cause I like the geckoes around. We don't have any creepy crawlies around and I love their little yip yip yipping..

*snap* Nic - yip yipping is another noise they make! Yep - I have a cat and I rouse on him if he takes a fancy to them too... But I live in the bush so I am used to the wildlife - anyone fancy my red belly black that is taking a fancy to my front fenceline???
